Numerical Analysis of Impact of Energy Buoy Anchoring Configurations on its Motion and Efficiency

Abstrakt

This paper presents a numerical analysis of the impact of energy buoy mooring configurations on its movement on the wave and effectiveness. The method used to analyse the buoy movement modelling in six degrees of freedom was described in a paper presented at the Conference 2011. Simulations of the buoy movement in regular wave and power calculations were conducted for several configurations of anchoring systems and position of gravity centre, as well as water depth. All variants of the anchoring systems were calculated for wire ropes located symmetrical relative to the plane of symmetry of the buoy. They differed only in the number and location of the anchors at the bottom of sea, and also in the anchor ropes tension value. The results of simulation showed a significant impact especially of the anchoring system on the buoy motion on wave, and thus the efficiency of its operation. The extreme values of energy derived in the same sea conditions differed even tenfold.
