  • Approach to evaluation of time to the critical degradation of ship pipelines

    Publikacja

In the article an approach to the problem of estimating time to the critical degradation of ship pipelines is considered. Such an assessment would consist of six stages. The fundamental idea is to include to the estimation of time to failure of pipelines such elements like: materials that the pipelines are made, destructive physical phenomena taking place in them and applied means of protection. The result of that evaluation should...

  • THE PROBLEM OF THE CALCULATION OF THE FREQUENCY OF DIAGNOSTIC EXAMINATIONS BASED ON DEVICE’S PROPER OPERATION TIME

    Publikacja

The paper presents the proposal to apply the normal distribution to solve the problem of the frequency of diagnostic tests. Particular emphasis is placed on simplicity of the method. This method may be useful for the average user technical system. The method reduces the number of assumptions to a minimum. The results do not raise of serious doubts but they require verification of course.

  • Multidimensional Monitoring System of State Machines

    Publikacja

    - Rok 2017

Technical systems are more complex every day as their electronics and mechanics. Technical advances tend to be autonomous in its performance and perform an auto-diagnosis that allows determining an abnormality existence in a component or subsystem and deciding if the system has to be stopped or not.

  • MEASUREMENT OF NOISE IN SUPERCAPACITORS

A developed method and measurement setup for measurement of noise generated in a supercapacitor is presented. The requirements for noise data recording are considered and correlated with working modes of supercapacitors. An example of results of low-frequency noise measurements in commercially available supercapacitors are presented. The ability of flicker noise measurements suggests that they can be used to assess quality of tested supercapacitors.

  • Low-cost data-driven modelling of microwave components using domain confinement and PCA-based dimensionality reduction

Fast data-driven surrogate models can be employed as replacements of computationally demanding full-wave electromagnetic simulations to facilitate the microwave design procedures. Unfortunately, practical application of surrogate modelling is often hindered by the curse of dimensionality and/or considerable nonlinearity of the component characteristics. This paper proposes a simple yet reliable approach to cost-efficient modelling...

  • Uncertainty in emotion recognition

Purpose–The purpose of this paper is to explore uncertainty inherent in emotion recognition technologiesand the consequences resulting from that phenomenon.Design/methodology/approach–The paper is a general overview of the concept; however, it is basedon a meta-analysis of multiple experimental and observational studies performed over the past couple of years.Findings–The mainfinding of the paper might be summarized as follows:...

  • Assessment of Fuel Cells’ State of Health by Low-Frequency Noise Measurements

We proposed applying low-frequency (flicker) noise in proton-exchange membrane fuel cells under selected loads to assess their state of health. The measurement set-up comprised a precise data acquisition board and was able to record the DC voltage and its random component at the output. The set-up estimated the voltage noise power spectral density at frequencies up to a few hundred mHz. We observed the evolution of the electrical...

  • Quality Analysis of Audio-Video Transmission in an OFDM-Based Communication System

    Publikacja

    - Rok 2022

Application of a reliable audio-video communication system, brings many advantages. With the spoken word we can exchange ideas, provide descriptive information, as well as aid to another person. With the availability of visual information one can monitor the surrounding, working environment, etc. As the amount of available bandwidth continues to shrink, researchers focus on novel types of transmission. Currently, orthogonal frequency...
