An investigation on the chemistry of the R2P=P ligand: reactions of a phosphanylphosphinidene complex of tungsten(VI) with electrophilic reagents
PublicationThe nucleophilic properties of the title compound [(2,6-i-Pr2C6H3N)2(Cl)W(η2-t-Bu2PvP)]Li·3DME (1) were investigated in reactions with selected electrophilic reagents such as MeI, M(CO)5THF (M = Cr, Mo, W), AlCl3, and GaCl3. Methylation of 1 by MeI yields phosphanylphosphido complexes [(2,6-i-Pr2C6H3N)2W(X)(1,2-η-t-Bu2PvP–CH3)] (X = Cl, I) (2-Cl/2-I) with the formation of a new P–C bond. Moreover, 1 reacts with electrophilic compounds...

Analytical chemistry in technical approaches: immobilization of biosorbent waste containing heavy metals in cemented materials
PublicationAn ecologically safe and economically justified method of stabilization of the used biosorbents was developed. Sorbent contaminated with heavy metals has been successfully solidified/stabilized using a hydraulic binder. The test results indicated that up to 1% of the biosorbent residue used could be added without compromising the compressive strength of the mortar. The compressive strength of the modified mortars did not change...

Assessing Metal Distribution in Diverse Incineration Ashes: Implications for Sustainable Waste Management in Case of Different Incineration Facilities
PublicationIncineration contributes about 10% of metals emission in Europe and leaching of metals from reuse or landfilling of incineration products remains a global concern. Thus, evaluating metal distribution in incineration residues is critical. The present study highlights the distribution of selected metals, Zn, Mn, Ni, Co, Fe, Cr, Al, Cu, and Pb, in incineration ashes in relation to incinerator capacities/sizes. Al was most distributed...

Mechanical Properties, Microstructure and Surface Quality of Polypropylene Green Composites as a Function of Sunflower Husk Waste Filler Particle Size and Content
PublicationAgricultural waste is a still untapped source of materials that can, in case of proper utilization, significantly improve the sustainability of polymers and their composites. In this work, polymer composites based on isotactic polypropylene were produced incorporating ground sunflower husk in the amount of 10 wt% and 20 wt%. The work’s main objective is to evaluate how preliminary fractioning of this agricultural waste filler affects...

Frontier education for a sustainable future - speculative design in architecture as a transdisciplinary experiment
PublicationIn this article, the authors propose the term frontier education referring to the well-established notion of frontier research - one, that through opening unexpected transdisciplinary perspectives, may offer new insights and create a fertile ground for new discoveries and ground-breaking concepts. In answer to the question of how to get rid of normative thinking and extend architectural experimentations, a speculative design architectural...

Sustainable Use of the Catenary by Trolleybuses with Auxiliary Power Sources on the Example of Gdynia
PublicationThe current developments in onboard power source technology, in particular, traction batteries, open up new potential in trolleybus transport and also make it possible to introduce electric buses. Thus far, trolleybus transport has required the presence of overhead lines (OHL). Introducing trolleybuses with onboard batteries makes it possible to grow the zero-emissions transport network in places with limited power supply capabilities...
