Adding Interpretability to Neural Knowledge DNA
PublicationThis paper proposes a novel approach that adds the interpretability to Neural Knowledge DNA (NK-DNA) via generating a decision tree. The NK-DNA is a promising knowledge representation approach for acquiring, storing, sharing, and reusing knowledge among machines and computing systems. We introduce the decision tree-based generative method for knowledge extraction and representation to make the NK-DNA more explainable. We examine...

When Neural Networks Meet Decisional DNA: A Promising New Perspective for Knowledge Representation and Sharing
PublicationABSTRACT In this article, we introduce a novel concept combining neural network technology and Decisional DNA for knowledge representation and sharing. Instead of using traditional machine learning and knowledge discovery methods, this approach explores the way of knowledge extraction through deep learning processes based on a domain’s past decisional events captured by Decisional DNA. We compare our approach with kNN (k-nearest...

Real-time PCR approach in dermatophyte detection and Trichophyton rubrum identification
PublicationDermatophytes are keratinophilic molds that infect human hair, nails and skin. Diagnosis of dermatophytosis is based on morphological, serological and biochemical features. However, identification is difficult and laborious due to similarities between microorganisms. Thus, there is considerable interest to develop mycological diagnostic procedures based on molecular biology methods. In this study, fast, two-step DNA extraction...

D-loop sequences retrieved from Canis lupus familiaris mitochondrial genome
Open Research DataCanine mitochondrial genome is built of 16727 bp. Non-coding control region (mtCR), called also D-loop, begins with 15458 nucleotide and ends with 16727 nucleotide. The length of this fragment is 1270 bp (Kim et al., 1998). D-loop region is responsible for replication and transcription of mitochondrial DNA. Mutations that occur within it may cause irregularity...

PCR-ELISA: inexpensive alternative to quantitative PCR
PublicationPCR-ELISA (polymerase chain reaction-enzyme linked immunosorbent assay), a combination of PCR and ELISA methods, has been used since late 1980s. The technique is based on specially labelled DNA fragments which are captured by specific DNA sequences and detected by antibodies. The whole procedure of PCR-ELISA is divided into three steps: DNA extraction, PCR reaction and detection by ELISA. The method has been found as very specific...

Decisional DNA (DDNA) Based Machine Monitoring and Total Productive Maintenance in Industry 4.0 Framework
PublicationThe entire manufacturing spectrum is transforming with the advent of Industry 4.0. The features of Set of Experience Knowledge Structure (SOEKS) and Decisional DNA (DDNA) were utilized for developing Virtual Engineering Objects (VEO), Virtual Engineering Process (VEP) and Virtual Engineering Factory (VEF), which in turn facilitate the creation of smart factories. In this study, DDNA based Machine Monitoring for Total Maintenance...

IKE1-IKE3 (C-1305 derivatives) inhibitory effect of the Yeast Topoisomerase II relaxation activity
Open Research DataInhibition of Yeast Topoisomerase II were analyzed according to relaxation assay kit from Inspiralis. Briefly, 250 ng of supercoiled pBR322 DNA, 1 mM ATP, 1-200 μM of analyzed compound were mixed with reaction buffer (1 mM Tris-HCl (pH 7.9), 10 mM KCl, 0.5 mM MgCl 2, 0.2 % (v/v) glycerol). The reaction was initiated by the addition of an enzyme, allowed...

The use of a one-step PCR method for the identification of Microsporum canis and Trichophyton mentagrophytes infection of pets
PublicationIntroduction: Dermatophytes are a closely related group of keratinophilic fungi. They encompass important etiological agents of superficial fungal infections. These fungi are able to invade keratinized tissues of humans and animals, causing dermatophytosis (ringworm) of hair, nails or skin. The aim: Traditional diagnostics of ringworm is based on morphological identification of cultured fungi and is time-consuming. Materials and methods:...

Hazard Control in Industrial Environments: A Knowledge-Vision-Based Approach
PublicationThis paper proposes the integration of image processing techniques (such as image segmentation, feature extraction and selection) and a knowledge representation approach in a framework for the development of an automatic system able to identify, in real time, unsafe activities in industrial environments. In this framework, the visual information (feature extraction) acquired from video-camera images and other context based gathered...

Decisional DNA Based Conceptual Framework for Smart Manufacturing
PublicationThis paper presents the conceptual framework for systematic knowledge representation, storage and reuse of manufacturing information in a production scenario. This knowledge structure is designed for three levels in a manufacturing set up viz. first at the engineering objects level, second at process and finally at factory level. Virtual engineering object (VEO) deals with knowledge at the individual object/component/machine level...

Multi-Technique Investigation of Grave Robes from 17th and 18th Century Crypts Using Combined Spectroscopic, Spectrometric Techniques, and New-Generation Sequencing
PublicationThe textile fragments of the funeral clothes found in the 17th and 18th century crypts were subjected to spectroscopic, spectrometric, and microbial investigation. The next-generation sequencing enabled DNA identification of microorganisms at the genus and in five cases to the species level. The soft hydrofluoric acid extraction method was optimized to isolate different classes of dyes from samples that had direct contact with...
