Hybrid battery based on arylated carbon nanotubes and laccase
PublicationSingle-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) were covalently modified with anthracene and anthraquinone and used for the construction of cathodes for biocatalytic reduction of dioxygen. The nanotubes with aromatic groups casted onto the electrode increased the working surface of the electrode and enabled efficient direct electron transfer (DET) between the enzyme and the electrode. The aryl groups enter the hydrophobic pocket of the...

Application of industrial waste as a carbon source for biosurfactants production
PublicationBiosurfactants are natural surfactants produced by variety of microorganisms. They are very prospective product due to good biodegradability, low toxicity, good physicochemical properties and high efficiency in many applications. Moreover, they are efficient in wide range of pH, temperatures and salinity. However, the production of biosurfactants is very expensive due to high purification cost. This cost can be minimized by application...

Carbon dioxide sequestration during shale gas recovery
PublicationThis paper presents literature on theoretical and practical aspects of gas production from shale using carbon dioxide fracturing. Development of technical and environmental aspects of carbon dioxide fracturing technologies is also considered. Patents applicable to carbon dioxide fracturing are reviewed. There were also conducted researches to evaluate possibility of carbon dioxide sequestration in shale gas reservoirs.

VOLTAMMETRIC DETERMINATION OF DEOXYRIBONUCLEIC ACID PRESENCE ON A CARBON ELECTRODE
PublicationThis paper presents a voltammetry as a useful method to analyse DNA from different species. This electrochemical method is well know and used in different analyses. The influence of an area of working electrode and the capacity component, is shown at equals and the measurement. In voltammetry DNA measurement the capacity component is very important and must be taken into consideration. All mathematical analyses were verify at laboratory.

Hybrid biobattery based on arylated carbon nanotubes and laccase
PublicationJednościenne nanorurki węglowe modyfikowano resztami antracenu i antrachinonu Otrzymany materiał posłużył do modyfikacji elektrody węglowej w celu jej zastosowania do redukcji tlenu w bioogniwie paliwowym.

Structure and thermoelectric properties of bismuth telluride—Carbon composites
PublicationCarbon nanotubes and amorphous carbon have been introduced into a bismuth telluride matrix (0.15 and 0.30 wt.% ratio) to investigate the influence of the carbon on the composite’s thermoelectric properties. Composites with well-dispersed additives have been obtained by sonication and ball-milling methodology. Carbon nanotubes and an amorphous carbon addition led to a decrease in electric conductivity from 1120 S/cm to 77 S/cm....

WEAR OF Si OR B DOPED AMORPHOUS CARBON COATINGS
PublicationThe paper describes a complex wear research on DLC (amorphous carbon) moped with boron (B) and silicone (Si). The tests were carried out in two different sliping systems: flat–on–flat (ring contact, unidirectional sliding) and ball–on–flat (reciprocating sliding). Water and medical saline solutions were used as lubricants. A comparative analysis of the results revealed differences in the initiation and progress of wear and the...

Development of Microstructured Carbon Coatings by Substrate-Catalytic CVD
PublicationCarbon nanostructured films were synthesized by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on H18 stainless steel (AISI 440C) sheets with an H2/CH4/N2 gas mixture at various substrate temperatures. During the synthesis, the iron and chromium oxide layer was formed between the steel and carbonaceous layer. The carbon films exhibited wall-like and spherical morphologies and structures, as characterized by scanning electron microscopy and Raman...

Vibrational Quenching of Optically Pumped Carbon Dimer Anions
PublicationCareful control of quantum states is a gateway to research in many areas of science such as quantum information, quantum-controlled chemistry, and astrophysical processes. Precise optical control of molecular ions remains a challenge due to the scarcity of suitable level schemes, and direct laser cooling has not yet been achieved for either positive or negative molecular ions. Using a cryogenic wire trap, we show how the internal...

The labor market in industrial cluster analysis
PublicationThe paper offers a description of methodologies used in industrial cluster analysis in conjunction with the labor market analysis. The author explores many tools utilized in cluster identi-fication: quantitative methods (LQ, shift-share), qualitative methods (MSQA) and mixed tools (cluster analysis in conjunction with discriminant analysis, spider diagram, GEM model, ne-twork analysis). Each tool is described in terms of its connection...

Formation of carbon monoxide by radiative association: a quantum dynamical study
PublicationRate coefficients for the formation of carbon monoxide (CO) by radiative association of carbon and oxygen atoms are computed using quantum dynamical simulations. At temperatures above 10 K CO radiative association is dominated by C(3P) and O(3P) approaching on the A1Π potential energy curve. The rate coefficient is estimated as k=A(T/300 K)αexp−β/T with A= 1.39 × 10−18 cm3 s−1, α=−0.016 and β= 92.2 for temperatures between 6 and...
