Dynamics of a simplified HPT model in relation to 24h TSH profiles
PublicationWe propose a simplified mathematical model of the hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroid (HPT) axis in an endocrine system. The considered model is a modification of the model proposed by Mukhopadhyay and Bhattacharyya in [10]. Our system of delay differential equations reconstructs the HPT axis in relation to 24h profiles of human in physiological conditions. Homeostatic control of the thyroid-pituitary axis is considered by using...

Thermal energy storage using stearic acid as PCM material
PublicationThis work presents an experimental study of thermal energy storage by use of PCM. The aim of the study was to establish the influence of different inlet temperature of heat transfer fluid (HTF) and different Reynolds number of HTF on intensity of charging process. The PCM used in this study was stearic acid and water was used as HTF. A copper helical coil mounted in cylindrical container served as a heat transfer surface.

Tomasz Wąsowicz dr hab.
PeopleTomasz Wąsowicz's research was first related to high-resolution atomic spectroscopy and focused on measurements and analysis of the transition probabilities of the forbidden lines, the hyperfine and isotopic structure of spectral lines of heavy elements, Stark effect in the helium atom. Tomasz Wąsowicz currently studies physicochemical processes occurring during interactions of various forms of radiation with atoms and molecules...

The hydrodynamic pressure field of the ship Zodiak, measurements and calculations
PublicationThe article presents the results of measurements of the slowly changing hydrodynamic pressure field HPF generated by the movement of the ship, Zodiak, in the Bay of Gdansk. The measurement results have been obtained in the framework of the program of the work in Siramis, under the auspices of the European Defence Administration of the EU, by the research team of the Naval Academy in Gdynia. The measurement results were compared with...

Hydrodynamic Pressure Field of a Ship on Shallow Water
PublicationResults of calculations of the hydrodynamic pressure field around the ship were obtained by application of the boundary element method. Hydrodynamic field was calculated for a Polish Navy’s tugboat and transport ship using a program called SHiPP and compared with measurements of the field taken on river near Swinoujscie for two identical tugs H-4 and H-10. Next, a series of HPF calculations was carried out on planes situated at...

A fractionally delaying complex Hilbert transform filter
PublicationPrzedstawiono nowy, dyskretno-czasowy, ułamkowo-opóźniający (FD od ang. fractional delayor), zespolony filtr Hilberta (HTF od ang. Hilbert transform filter) nazwany FDHTF.

Thermal Energy Storage with PCMs in Shell-and-Tube Units: A Review
PublicationThe paper presents a survey of the experimental and numerical studies of shell-and-tube systems in which phase change material (PCM) is used. Due to the multitude of design solutions for shell-and-tube systems, the emphasis is placed on double-tube (DT), triplex-tube (TT), and multitube (MT) units. Additionally, only single-pass systems are considered. Particular attention is paid to the method of heat transfer intensification....

Pursuing Listeners’ Perceptual Response in Audio-Visual Interactions - Headphones vs Loudspeakers: A Case Study
PublicationThis study investigates listeners’ perceptual responses in audio-visual interactions concerning binaural spatial audio. Audio stimuli are coupled with or without visual cues to the listeners. The subjective test participants are tasked to indicate the direction of the incoming sound while listening to the audio stimulus via loudspeakers or headphones with the head-related transfer function (HRTF) plugin. First, the methodology...

Eksternalizacja w binauralnej ambisonicznej auralizacji źródeł kierunkowych
PublicationW artykule przedstawiono najważniejsze składniki procesu skutecznego renderowania trójwymiarowego obrazu dźwiękowego za pomocą słuchawek. W tym celu badany jest stopień oddziaływania poszczególnych czynników wpływających na eksternalizację dźwięku: śledzenie położenia głowy (ang. head tracking), indywidualne funkcje przenoszenia głowy (HRTF – Head Related Transfer Function, odnoszące się do matematycznej funkcji propagacji dźwięku...

SoundShape - Headphone Transfer Function database
Open Research DataThis publication introduces the SoundShape database, which contains closed-ear headphone transfer functions (HpTF) for fifteen headphone models. Several models included in this database are also found in other well-known databases, such as Virtuoso and Binaural Decoders. However, for some models found in the literature, HpTF filters were unavailable,...

Reverberation divergence in VR applications
PublicationThe aim of this project was to investigate the correlation between virtual reality (VR) imagery and ambisonic sound. With the increasing popularity of VR applications, understanding how sound is perceived in virtual environments is crucial for enhancing the immersiveness of the experience. By examining the relationship between visual scenes and sound scenes, this research attempts to explore how the interaction between vision and...

Stworzenie stereofonicznej ścieżki dźwiękowej do filmu symulującej dźwięk wielokanałowy
PublicationCelem referatu pracy jest przedstawienie procesu tworzenia stereofonicznej ścieżki dźwiękowej do filmu, symulującej dźwięk wielokanałowy w odsłuchu słuchawkowym. Opracowana symulacja dźwięku wielokanałowego wykorzystuje filtrację HRTF (ang. Head-Related-Transfer-Function). W celu umożliwienia jednoczesnego odsłuchu kilku partii instrumentalnych składających się na ścieżkę dźwiękową stworzona została aplikacja wraz z graficznym...

Water retention curves of sandy soils obtained from direct measurements, particle size distribution, and infiltration experiments
PublicationAccurate information about soil water retention curves (SWRCs) of sands is essential for evaluating groundwater recharge and vulnerability to contamination in many shallow sandy aquifers which are widespread on post glacial areas in Northern Europe and North America. Pedotransfer functions (PTFs) allow to estimate SWRC from basic physical characteristics of soils, such as textural composition. However, in the case of clean sands...
