TINKTEP: A fully self-consistent, mutually polarizable QM/MM approach based on the AMOEBA force field
PublicationWe present a novel quantum mechanical/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) approach in which a quantum subsystem is coupled to a classical subsystem described by the AMOEBA polarizable force field. Our approach permits mutual polarization between the QM and MM subsystems, effected through multipolar electrostatics. Self-consistency is achieved for both the QM and MM subsystems through a total energy minimization scheme. We provide an expression...

Investigation of changes in the type B PLC effect of Al-Mg-Cu type alloy for various strain rates

Influence of retrogression and reaging on microstructure, mechanical properties and susceptibility to stress corrosion cracking of an Al-Zn-Mg alloy.
Efekty te przypisano zmianiom wielkości i rozkładu wydzieleń.

Influence of retrogression and reaging (RRA) heat treatment on microstructure, mechanical and chemical behaviour of an Al-Zn-Mg alloy
PublicationBadano metodą stałego wolnego rozciągania w wodzie morskiej wpływ czasu i temperatury nawrotu oraz powtórnego starzenia na czas do zniszczenia, energię zniszczenia, przewężenie i odkształcenie. Stwierdzono ogólnie niewielki wpływ, przy czym wzrostowi odporności na korozję naprężeniową towarzyszył spadek właściwości mechanicznych. Obserwowane zmiany właściwości przypisano zmianom struktury dyslokacyjnej i mikrostruktury.

Zmęczeniowe badania porównawcze złączy spawanych stopów aluminium Al-Mg5083 oraz Al-Zn-Mg 7010
PublicationBadaniom zmęczeniowym poddano stopy aluminium do przeróbki plastycznej Al-Mg5083 w stanie T6-przesyconym, a następnie sztucznie starzonym oraz stop Al-Zn-Mg 7010 w stanie H321 umocnionym zgniotem i stabilizowanym. Doczołowe złącza spawane wykonano metodami MIG i TIG. Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników badań opracowano zbiorcze wykresy niskocyklowej wytrzymałości zmęczeniowej. Wykazano, że stop Al-Mg 5083 ma wyższą niskocyklową wytrzymałość...

Investigations on mixture preparation for two phase adiabatic pressure drop of R134a flowing in 5 mm diameter channel
PublicationThe article presents detailed two-phase adiabatic pressure drops data for refrigerant R134a. Study cases have been set for a mass flux varying from 200 to 400 kg/m2 s, at the saturation temperature of 19.4 ◦C. Obtained experimental data was compared with the available correlations from the literature for the frictional pressure drop during adiabatic flow. Influence of mixture preparation on pressure drop was investigated, for...

Effect of composition on the thermal properties and structure of M-Al-Si-O-N glasses, M = Na, Mg, Ca
PublicationThe primary objective of this study is to explore the relationship between the composition, structure, and thermal characteristics of M-Al-Si-O-N glasses, with M representing sodium (Na), magnesium (Mg), or calcium (Ca). The glasses were prepared by melting in a quartz crucible at 1650 °C and AlN precursor (powder) was utilized as a nitrogen source. The measured thermal properties studied were glass transition temperature (Tg),...

Effects of FSW Tool Plunge Depth on Properties of an Al-Mg-Si Alloy T-Joint: Thermomechanical Modeling and Experimental Evaluation
PublicationOne of the main challenging issues in friction stir welding (FSW) of stiffened structures is maximizing skin and flange mixing. Among the various parameters in FSW that can affect the quality of mixing between skin and flange is tool plunge depth (TPD). In this research, the effects of TPD during FSW of an Al-Mg-Si alloy T-joint are investigated. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method can help understand TPD effects on FSW...

Surface EMG-based signal acquisition for decoding hand movements
Open Research DataBiosignal processing plays a crucial role in modern hand prosthetics. The challenge is to restore functionality of a lost limb based on the signals acquired from the surface of the stump. The number of sensors (emg channels) used for signal acquisition influence the quality of a prosthetic hand. Modern algorithms (including neural networks) can significantly...

PublicationThis letter presents a high-isolation dual-band multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna based on the ground plane modification and optimized metamaterials (MMs) for 5G millimeter-wave applications. The antenna is a monopole providing a dual-band response at 5G 28/38 bands with a small physical size (4.8 × 2.9 × 0.762 mm3, excluding the feeding line). The MIMO consists of two symmetric radiating elements arranged adjacently...

IMPULSE NOISE ASSOCIATED WITH FIRING HANDHELD MILITARY WEAPONS
PublicationSports, hunting and military shooting grounds are well known sources of noise that can be disruptive both for people present at those facilities, as well as for people and animals that live nearby. What is more, shooters are also subjected to very painful and dangerous impulse noise. The paper discusses the issues related to the noise immission during firing of small firearms of military type that are typical for Poland. The experiments...
