Influence of the internal electrolyte composition on amperometric sulphur dioxide sensor properties
PublicationIn this work amperometric sulphur dioxide sensor with a liquid electrolyte, a mercury sulphate reference electrode and solid polymer electrolyte (Nafion) covered with gold as a working electrode will be presented. The main goal of this research is to determine the influence of internal electrolyte composition on the sensor properties. Sensor filled with 1M and 5M sulphuric acid has been investigated.

Proposal of New Starch-Blends Composition Quickly Degradable in Marine Environment
PublicationThe aim of this paper was to obtain a quickly degradable in seawater polymer blend as an alternative proposal for classical polymer packaging. For preliminary studies: poly(lactic acid) (PLA), starch, calcium carbonate (CaCO3), gelatin and glycerol were chosen. PLA was pointed out due to its biodegradability and comparable properties to polyethylene or polypropylene. Whereas starch was chosen as abundant, renewable and cheap polymer...

Effect of conventional cooking on changes in the contents of basic composition and glucosinolates in kale
PublicationBrassica vegetables have been strongly recommended as part of human diet because of its high content of bioactive sulphur compounds, eg glucosinolates. The nutrient and health promoting compounds in kale are significantly affected by traditional cooking. The study investigated changes in the levels of dry mass, ash, fat, total protein, dietary fibre as well as total and individual glucosinolates in the kale due to the traditional...

Distinction of citrus fruits based on their volatile composition using the electronic nose
PublicationThe aim of the study was to analyze the volatile fraction of the citrus fruit using an electronic nose device integrated with ultrafast gas chromatography. The subjects were Citrus aurantifolia, Fortunella margarita Swingle and Citrus × floridana. The chromatographic data obtained were analyzed by means of chemometric methods: PCA and SQC. On the basis of the charts obtained, it is possible to distinguish the fruits tested on the...

Controlling the size and morphology of precipitated calcite particles by the selection of solvent composition
PublicationCalcium carbonate particles were obtained in the reaction of calcium hydroxide with carbon dioxide at 65°C. Initial Ca(OH)2 suspensions were prepared in pure water and aqueous solutions of ethylene glycol or glycerol of the concentration range up to 20% (vol.). The course of reaction was monitored by conductivity measurements. Precipitated solids were analyzed by FTIR, XRD, SEM and the particles size distribution was determined...

Compatibilization of polymeric composition filled with ground tire rubber – short review
PublicationWaste rubber is recognized as valuable materials resource and searching for new recycling methods is the main activity of many research institutions and companies. At the turn of the last years only few scientific papers about foamed polymer compositions filled with ground tire rubber were published. In paper review about progress in compatibilization and foaming of polymeric compositions filled with ground tire rubber.

Preparation, composition and properties of fish silage produced with post-coagulation sludge
PublicationPost-coagulation sludge was added to fish fydrolyzates (silage). Silage was prepared using whole sprats. Technology of the process has been modified and sulphuric acid was replaced with phosphoric acid. The objective was to evaleuate the quality of produced silage during storage, particulary the changes of peroxide value and amount of free acids in silage fat.
