We study semi-regular arrays of Au nanoparticles (NP) obtained via UV laser irradiation of thin Au films on glass substrate. The NP structures are prepared from films of a thickness up to 60 nm produced by discharge sputtering or pulsed laser deposition, and annealed by nanosecond laser pulses at 266 or 308 nm, respectively, at fluencies in the range of 60-410 mJ/cm2. For the rare- and close-packed NP structures, consistent description...
Functionalization of indium-tin-oxide electrodes by laser-nanostructured gold thin films for biosensing applications
of a relatively large area formed by pulsed laser nanostructuring of thin gold films arereported and discussed. The SEM inspection of modified electrodes reveals the presence of the nearlyspherical and disc-shaped particles of dimensions in the range of 40–120 nm. The NP-array geometry canbe controlled by selection of the laser processing conditions. It is shown that particle size and packingdensity of the array are important factors...
Raman investigation of the patina layers on Hungarian copper ingots from a fifteenth century shipwreck
We report results of the patina study of underwater archeological finding ofmedieval copper objects performed by means of the Raman and complementary spectroscopic techniques. The objects were found submerged in the sea as cargo part of the ship which sunk in the Gulf of Gdańsk in 1408. The excavated collection consists of 230 oval ingots of the size and mass up to about 60 cm and 18 kg (total of 2 tons), respectively. In the Raman...
