Wettability of shale rock as an indicator of fracturing fluid composition
PublikacjaShales have become one of the main unconventional gas resources in the world. However, physicochemical properties of rocks are still at the center of research. There have been conducted major researches in wettability of shales by fluids and advances in understanding and control of shale rock wettability. Also influence of interfacial phenomena on a production capacity of reservoirs have been made. The aim of this study is to find...

Wettability of Horizontal Stainless Steel Tube by Nanofluid Droplets
PublikacjaThe goal of the present work was the experimental determination of the contact angle of three nanofluids, i.e. water-Al2O3, water-Cu and water-TiO2 on horizontal stainless steel tube of 1.6 mm OD. Of particular interest was the effect of nanoparticle concentration (0.01%, 0.1%, and 1% by weight) on droplet contact angle.

Leaf wettability and plant surface water storage for common wetland species of the Biebrza peatlands (northeast Poland)
PublikacjaWetlands play a crucial role in buffering the effects of climate change. At the same time, they are one of the most endangered ecosystems on the globe. The knowledge of the water cycle and energy exchange is crucial for the practical preservation and exploiting their capabilities. Leaf wettability is an important parameter characterising the plant's ability to retain water on its surface, and is linked to the ecosystems' hydrological...

Tailoring properties of reduced graphene oxide by oxygen plasma treatment
PublikacjaWe report an easily controllable, eco-friendly method for tailoring the properties of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) by means of oxygen plasma. The effect of oxygen plasma treatment time (1, 5 and 10 minutes) on the surface properties of rGO was evaluated. Physicochemical characterization using microscopic, spectroscopic and thermal techniques was performed. The results revealed that different oxygen-containing groups (e.g. carboxyl,...

In Vitro Studies on Nanoporous, Nanotubular and Nanosponge-Like Titania Coatings, with the Use of Adipose-Derived Stem Cells
PublikacjaIn vitro biological research on a group of amorphous titania coatings of different nanoarchitectures (nanoporous, nanotubular, and nanosponge-like) produced on the surface of Ti6Al4V alloy samples have been carried out, aimed at assessing their ability to interact with adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADSCs) and affect their activity. The attention has been drawn to the influence of surface coating architecture and its physicochemical...
