The influence of rotor-stator axial gap on the aerodynamic forces generatedin the shroud clearance of a turbine stage. Part I: Pressure field

The influence of rotor-stator axial gap on the aerodynamic forces generatedin the shroud clearance of a turbine stage. Part II: Forces and moments

Comparative analysis of the theoretical models of ideal propulsor, ideal fluid brake, ideal screw propeller and ideal axial wind turbine
PublikacjaThe article presents a detailed discussion of four different fluid dynamics devices. These devices are presented with all relevant mathematical formulae regarding the forces, the power and the efficiency. It is demonstrated that application of the Betz theorem to axial wind turbines is not correct and it underestimates the maximujm achievable efficiency. This conclusion is supported by numerical calculations.

Experimental ORC micro-power plant for CHP application Part B: Radial and Multi-stage axial turbines
PublikacjaThe co-generative micro-power plant with the HFE7100 applied as a working medium was designed and built for experimental investigations. Special attention is paid to a micro-turbine which was built and tested in two variants: a radial turbine and an axial turbine. A concept of a radial turbine with 2 centripetal and 2 centrifugal stages is shown. This prototype was equipped with an aerostatic gas bearing and, alternatively, with...

OPTIMIZATION OF THE LAST STAGE OF GAS-STEAM TURBINE USING A HYBRID METHOD
PublikacjaThis paper relates to the CFD calculation of a new turbine type which is in the phase of theoretical analysis, because the working fluid is a mixture of steam and gas generated in wet combustion chamber. At first, this article concentrates on a possibility of streamlining the flow efficiency of a last stage of axial turbine working on gas-steam mixture using a hybrid of the particle swarm optimization algorithm with the Nelder-Mead...

The use of plate springs for preloading of a system of tapered roller bearings of a wind turbine gearbox
PublikacjaThe use of preloaded tapered roller bearings in wind turbine drive systems allows a transfer of load in the case of high variations of axial forces. The examined bearing system, a modification of a current design, consists of a pair of different sized bearings. Previous study showed the high sensitivity of tapered roller bearings on the existing radial interference. Dimensional tolerances used in the original design do not allow...

A multistage turbine for a micro power plant
PublikacjaThis paper presents results of a design analysis of a multi-stage turbine for the cogeneration micro-power plant working in accordance with Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC). The heat power of the plant is assumed equal to 20 kW and the corresponding available electric output is estimated to be of about 3 kW. Different variants of the radial and axial-flow turbines have been considered, while the detailed results of the calculations...

Revalorisation of the Szewalski’s concept of the law of varying the last-stage blade retraction in a gas-steam turbine
PublikacjaThe article presents the implementations of the free vortex law to the blade of the last stage of a gas-steam turbine. First, a thermodynamic analysis was carried out, determining the parameters at the inlet, then the number of stages of the high and low-pressure part of the turbine was constructed, together with the kinematics and velocity vectors for subsequent stages of the axial turbine. The last step of article was to take...
