Analysis of Modal Parameters Using a Statistical Approach for Condition Monitoring of the Wind Turbine Blade
PublikacjaThe primary objective of the presented paper is the numerical and experimental investigation related to developing a useful diagnostic method, which can be used for determining the site and size of damage in laminated shells of wind turbine blades. The described detection technique is based on the analysis of low frequencies bending vibrations mode shapes of rotor blades. The authors used the commonly applied statistics methods...

OBTAINING FLUID FLOW PATTERN FOR TURBINE STAGE WITH NEURAL MODEL.
PublikacjaIn the paper possibility of applying neural model to obtaining patterns of proper operation for fluid flow in turbine stage for fluid-flow diagnostics is discussed. Main differences between Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solvers and neural model is given, also limitations and advantages of both are considered. Time of calculations of both methods was given, also possibilities of shortening that time with preserving the accuracy...

Explanation of Reduction of Pressure Forces in Turbine Chamber Seals
PublikacjaThe paper describes a chamber seal reducing the aerodynamic forces created in shroud seals. Asymmetrical pressure distribution (due to rotor-stator eccentricity) in the blade tip clearance leads to the creation of pressure forces acting on the blade shroud. By increasing the volume above the shroud, the pressure distribution becomes more uniform on the whole shroud circumference and the effect of rotor eccentricity is reduced....

A Computational Analysis of the Aerodynamic and Aeromechanical Behavior of a Thermo-Well for Steam Temperature Measurement in a Steam Turbine
PublikacjaThe goal of the paper is twofold: firstly, it presents computational fluid dynamics analysis for finding maximum unsteady flow forces (and their frequencies) acting on a thermo-well for measuring steam temperature in a steam turbine control stage and secondly, it presents computational solid dynamics analysis of possibility of entry into resonance of the thermowell structure. There have been analyzed two cases of flow with changing...

Application of Rapid Prototyping technology in the manufacturing of turbine blade with small diameter holes
PublikacjaThe article presents the possibilities of using Rapid Prototyping (RP) technology in the manufacturing of turbine blades with small diameter holes. The object under investigation was gas turbine blade with small diameter cooling holes and holes for generating longitudinal vortices. A turbine blade model was produced by means of Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) technology and subsequently validated in terms of detection and accuracy...

Experimental ORC micro-power plant for CHP application Part B: Radial and Multi-stage axial turbines
PublikacjaThe co-generative micro-power plant with the HFE7100 applied as a working medium was designed and built for experimental investigations. Special attention is paid to a micro-turbine which was built and tested in two variants: a radial turbine and an axial turbine. A concept of a radial turbine with 2 centripetal and 2 centrifugal stages is shown. This prototype was equipped with an aerostatic gas bearing and, alternatively, with...

Improving Savonius rotor performance by shaping its blade edges
PublikacjaThe article presents the results of the numerical analysis of the flow inside the Savonius rotor. Particular at-tention has been paid to the vicinity of the blade gap in order to recognise the mechanisms controlling the flow in this area. The conclusions resulting from the analysis made the basis for an attempt to improve Savonius turbine performance via shaping rotor blade edges. The paper presents selected characteristic flow...
