Preparation of DNA films for studies under vacuum conditions. The influence of cations in buffer solutions
PublikacjaBadania zostały przeprowadzone w celu określenia optymalnych warunków wymaganych do przygotowania jednolitych filmów superskręconego plazmidowego DNA do wykorzystania w doświadczeniach napromieniowania w warunkach wysokiej próżni. Badania pokazują, że znaczne szkody w DNA powstają w wyniku odpompowywania filmów DNA z roztworów zawierających jedynie czysta wodę.

Valence and ionic lowest-lying electronic states of small esters studied by high resolution vacuum ultraviolet photoabsorption, photoelectron spectroscopy and ab initio calculations
PublikacjaEsters are an important class of oxygenated volatile organic compounds used in food flavorings, perfumes and other cosmetic products. They are present in fruits and pheromones and are emitted to the atmosphere naturally. Esters are also formed in the atmosphere as a product of the oxidation of ethers. Some of them form poly-molecule chains and are used in plastics. Phosphoesters form DNA backbone, while nitroesters are known for...

Detecting Apples in the Wild: Potential for Harvest Quantity Estimation
PublikacjaKnowing the exact number of fruits and trees helps farmers to make better decisions in their orchard production management. The current practice of crop estimation practice often involves manual counting of fruits (before harvesting), which is an extremely time-consuming and costly process. Additionally, this is not practicable for large orchards. Thanks to the changes that have taken place in recent years in the field of image...
