  • Possibility to use engine compression ignition engines in floating power plants marine

    Publikacja

    - Rok 2012

Compression-ignition engines used in ship technology as main propulsion engines are large units reaching even to 50-60 MW. The engines can be used in power industry for electricity generation in a simple or combined steam turbine system in combined heat and power plants. The leading engine in such an arrangement is an internal-combustion piston engine. The main propulsion engines are used in large piston internal-combustion engines...

  • Performance and Emission Modelling and Simulation of Marine Diesel Engines using Publicly Available Engine Data

    Publikacja

To analyse the behaviour of marine diesel engines in unsteady states for different purposes, for example to determine the fuel consumption or emissions level, to adjust the control strategy, to manage the maintenance, etc., a goal-based mathematical model that can be easily implemented for simulation is necessary. Such a model usually requires a wide range of operating data, measured on a test stand. This is a time-consuming process...

  • Sounding rocket vibration mechanical filter and amplifier

Measuring accelerations and vibrations of a sounding rocket provides both information for engineers on the launcher vehicle performance as well as environment description for future payload designers. Typically, information on the level of vibration and eigenfrequencies are required to properly design a payload. This paper presents a design of a novel mechanical filter and amplifier for mechanical vibrations. Its key feature is...

  • A device for measuring heat flux on a rocket skin surface

    Publikacja

    - Rok 2021

A novel method for measuring heat flux on a surface is presented. It is an extensive upgrade of currently known heat flux sensors used mostly in civil engineering. As the thermal environment of launchers, especially sounding rocket can have an enormous negative effect on payload, careful considerations have to be taken in the process of preparing insulation. Usually, thermal data provided by the launch vehicle manufacturer is limited...

  • Inverse heat transfer problem solution of sounding rocket using moving window optimization

    Publikacja

An Inverse Heat Transfer Problem is solved for a sounding rocket module given its geometry and measured temperature profile. The solution is obtained via moving window optimization, a technique for solving inverse dynamics. An analysis is performed to modify the method to avoid oscillatory behavior of the resulting heat flux profile. The method parameters are tuned in relation to characteristic phases of the flight. Results are...

  • Lessons learned during SRAD hybrid motor development

Student Researched and Developed (SRAD) hybrid rocket motor H-15 with total impulse of 15 $kNs$ was built. First version of the engine has average thrust of 3 $kN$, the second, improved one is prepared with an aim to have average thrust of 5 $kN$. Engine development was started from scratch and went through phases of: definition of design assumptions and constraints, numerical modelling to predict engine performance, CAD and CAM...

  • Decision control of the combustion engines operation.

    Publikacja

    - Rok 2004

W artykule przedstawiono propozycję decyzyjnego sterowania procesem eksploatacji silników spalinowych z zastosowaniem modelu tego procesu w formie decyzyjnego (sterowanego) procesu semimarkowskiego. Przedstawiono silnik spalinowy jako obiekt sterowania.Zwrócono uwagę na potrzebę jednoczesnego sterowania procesem zmian stanów technicznych i eksploatacyjnych silników. Zasygnalizowano także znaczenie diagnostyki technicznej w tego...
