An integrated e-learning services management system providing HD videoconferencing and CAA services
PublicationIn this paper we present a novel e-learning services management system, designed to provide highly modifiable platform for various e-learning tools, able to fulfill its function in any network connectivity conditions (including no connectivity scenario). The system can scale from very simple setup (adequate for servicing a single exercise) to a large, distributed solution fit to support an enterprise. Strictly modular architecture...

Pretreatment of Lignocellulosic Materials as Substrates for Fermentation Processes
PublicationLignocellulosic biomass is an abundant and renewable resource that potentially contains large amounts of energy. It is an interesting alternative for fossil fuels, allowing the production of biofuels and other organic compounds. In this paper, a review devoted to the processing of lignocellulosic materials as substrates for fermentation processes is presented. The review focuses on physical, chemical, physicochemical, enzymatic,...

Evaluation by means of magneto-acoustic emission and Barkhausen effect of time and space distribution of magnetic flux density in ferromagnetic plate magnetized by a C-core
PublicationPokazano wyniki badań emisji magnetoakustycznej (EMA) i efektu Barkhausena (HEB) dla dwóch płyt stalowych o różnych wymiarach. Wyniki te są porównane z wynikami modelowania zjawiska EMA z wykorzystaniem metody elementów skończonych z uwzględniem efektu prądów wirowych. Uzyskano zadawalające dopasowanie modelu, który odtwarzał poszerzenie maksimum EMA oraz przesunięcie fazowe i zmianę amplitudy HEB.

Space-mapping-based design flow of miniaturized broadband matching transformer with perforated metallization
PublicationA fast design procedure of unconventional passive components has been presented and experimentally validated on the basis of a wideband microstrip four-section matching transformer (50:6 OHm). A classic impedance matching circuit has been miniaturized by means of compact microstrip resonant cells (CMRCs) leading to a considerable length reduction (34%) together with minor degradation in its performance. The spacemapping-based design...

The effect of surfactants mixtures composition on wetting of different solid materials
PublicationThe wetting properties of surfactants mixtures were investigated. Three types of compounds were used: nonionic gemini α, α'-[2,4,7,9-tetramethyl-5-decyne-4,7-diyl]bis[ω-hydroxyl-olioxyethylene] (S-10), anionic sodium dodecyl sulphates (SDS) and cationic dodecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (DTAB). The materials used in wetting experiments were steel and methyl polymethacrylate. These materials differ...

Design and Optimization of Metamaterial-based Highly-isolated MIMO Antenna with High Gain and Beam Tilting Ability for 5G Millimeter Wave Applications
PublicationThis paper presents a wideband multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with high gain and isolation, as well as beam tilting capability, for 5G millimeter wave (MMW) applications. A single bow-tie antenna fed by a substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) is proposed to cover the 28 GHz band (26.5–29.5 GHz) with a maximum gain of 6.35 dB. To enhance the gain, H-shaped metamaterial (MM)-based components are incorporated into the...

Shielded HMSIW-Based Self-Triplexing Antenna With High Isolation for WiFi/WLAN/ISM Band
PublicationThis article presents a novel design of a miniaturized self-triplexing antenna (STA) based on the shielded half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (S-HMSIW) for WiFi/WLAN/ISM-band applications. The S-HMSIW is constructed by assembling one row of vias and an open slot at the open-ended side of the conventional HMSIW. This configuration increases the quality factor and minimizes unwanted radiation loss, which allows for achieving...

Advances in Architectures, Big Data, and Machine Learning Techniques for Complex Internet of Things Systems
PublicationTe feld of Big Data is rapidly developing with a lot of ongoing research, which will likely continue to expand in the future. A crucial part of this is Knowledge Discovery from Data (KDD), also known as the Knowledge Discovery Process (KDP). Tis process is a very complex procedure, and for that reason it is essential to divide it into several steps (Figure 1). Some authors use fve steps to describe this procedure, whereas others...
