Selection of cutting and washing fluids as a method of waste minimization
PublicationW artykule przedstawiono wyniki testów korozyjności dla cieczy obróbkowych wykorzystywanych do produkcji przekładni skrzyni biegów. Testy prowadzono zgodnie z normami: DIN 51360-2 (Ford-test) oraz PN-92/M-55789. Badaniom poddano trzy ciecze obróbkowe oraz trzy ciecze chłodzące. Wraz ze spadkiem stężenia użytej cieczy, obserwowano większe ogniska korozji.

Transesterification of postfrying oils and utilization of the glycerol phase

Liquid-solid interaction during formation of nanocomposite systems

Morphology and the physical and thermal properties of thermoplastic polyurethane reinforced with thermally reduced graphene oxide
PublicationIn this study, thermally reduced graphene oxide (TRG)-containing polyurethane nanocomposites were obtained by the extrusion method. The content of TRG incorporated into polyurethane elastomer systems equaled 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 wt%. The morphology, static and dynamic mechanical properties, and thermal stability of the modified materials were investigated. The application of TRG resulted in a visible increase in material stiffness...

Emulsifi ers from renewable materials: an eco-friendly synthesis and properties
PublicationThe focus of this study was the preparation of novel bio based polyglycerol emulsifiers characterized by a one pot synthesis, thus by modified properties with respect to interfacial activity and effectiveness as emulsion stabilizers. The final products of the esterification process, carried out in the presence of carboxylates were used directly as emulsifiers (without purification or fractionation). Polyglycerol emulsifiers obtained...

Graphene hydrogels with embedded metal nanopatricles as efficient catalysts in 4-nitrophenol reduction and methylene blue decolorization
PublicationSynthesis and characterization of the graphene hydrogels with three different metallic nanoparticles, that is Au, Ag and Cu, respectively is presented. Synthesized in a one-pot approach graphene hydrogels with embedded metallic nanoparticles were tested as heterogeneous catalysts in a model reaction of 4-nitrophenol reduction. The highest activity was obtained for graphene hydrogel with Cu NPs and additional reaction of methylene...

Visible light-enhanced degradation of phenol in the presence of modified TiO2
PublicationOpracowano metody otrzymywania katalizatora na bazie tlenku tytanu (IV) aktywowanego światłem widzialnym do fotokatalitycznego utleniania zanieczyszczeń. Tlenek tytanu (IV) modyfikowano wybranymi organicznymi i nieorganicznymi domieszkami. Aktywność fotokatalityczną otrzymanych próbek katalizatorów zbadano w reakcji degradacji fenolu (co= 0,21 mmol/dm3) w roztworze wodnym, w obecności światła widzialnego (l>400). Wybrane katalizatory...

Optimizing CO2 Purification in a Negative CO2 Emission Power Plant
PublicationIn the pursuit of mitigating CO2 emissions, this study investigates the optimisation of CO2 purification within a Negative CO2 Emission Power Plant using a spray ejector condenser (SEC) coupled with a separator. The approach involves direct-contact condensation of vapour, primarily composed of an inert gas (CO2), facilitated by a subcooled liquid spray. A comprehensive analysis is presented, employing a numerical model to simulate...

Zr‐Based Metal‐Organic Framework UiO‐66/Ultem® 1000 Membranes for Effective CO2/H2 Separation
PublicationMixed-matrix membranes (MMMs) using UiO-66 nanofillers as dispersing inorganic phase and polyetherimide (PEI) as continuous polymeric matrix were synthesized. Different UiO-66 loadings of 10, 20, and 30 wt % were applied. The morphology and UiO-66 dispersion over the prepared MMMs were examined. Gas separation measurements were performed for H2/CO2 gas mixture to evaluate the influence of UiO-66 on the separation yield of resulting...

Potential applications of by-products from the coffee industry in polymer technology – Current state and perspectives
PublicationCoffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world, and its popularity is continuously growing, which can be expressed by almost doubling production over the last three decades. Cultivation, processing, roasting, and brewing coffee are known for many years. These processes generate significant amounts of by-products since coffee bean stands for around 50% of the coffee cherry. Therefore, considering the current pro-ecological...

More than just a beer—the potential applications of by-products from beer manufacturing in polymer technology
PublicationBeer is the most popular alcoholic beverage in the world, and its popularity is continuously growing. Currently, global beer production is estimated at around 2 billion hectoliters. Nevertheless, the increasing production capacity implicates the rising issue of generated by-products—brewers’ spent grain, spent hops, spent yeast, and wastewater. They are generated in massive amounts, so having in mind the current pro-ecological...
