Management of Textual Data at Conceptual Level
PublicationThe article presents the approach to the management of a large repository of documents at conceptual level. We describe our approach to representing Wikipedia articles using their categories. The representation has been used to construct groups of similar articles. Proposed approach has been implemented in prototype system that allows to organize articles that are search results for a given query. Constructed clusters allow to...

Active management of equipment cooling in hoteling data centers
PublicationHoteling data centers are designated for housing computing and storage units of many, usually small customers, as opposed to traditional data centers supporting own computing and storage resources of a bigger company. One of the services to be provided to consumer’s equipment is cooling. Cooling in data centers is prevalently achieved by circulating air in computer room. Efficient cooling requires delivering cold air from central...

MAPSERVER – INFORMATION FLOW MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE FOR THE BORDER GUARD DISTRIBUTED DATA EXCHANGE SYSTEM
PublicationIn this paper the architecture of the software designed for management of position and identification data of floating and flying objects in Maritime areas controlled by Polish Border Guard is presented. The software was designed for managing information stored in a distributed system with two variants of the software, one for a mobile device installed on a vessel, an airplane or a car and second for a central server. The details...

Data Partitioning and Task Management in the Clustered Server Layer of the Volunteer-based Computation System
PublicationWhile the typical volunteer-based distributed computing system focus on the computing performance, the Comcute system was designed especially to keep alive in the emergency situations. This means that designers had to take into account not only performance, but the safety of calculations as well. Quadruple-layered architecture was proposed to separate the untrusted components from the core of the system. The main layer (W) consists...

Dynamic Data Management Among Multiple Databases for Optimization of Parallel Computations in Heterogeneous HPC Systems
PublicationRapid development of diverse computer architectures and hardware accelerators caused that designing parallel systems faces new problems resulting from their heterogeneity. Our implementation of a parallel system called KernelHive allows to efficiently run applications in a heterogeneous environment consisting of multiple collections of nodes with different types of computing devices. The execution engine of the system is open for...

Comprehensive Comparison of a Few Variants of Cluster Analysis as Data Mining Tool in Supporting Environmental Management
PublicationA few variants of hierarchical cluster analysis (CA) as tool of assessment of multidimensional similarity in environmental dataset are compared. The dataset consisted of analytical results of determination of metals (Na, K, Ca, Sc, Fe, Co, Zn, As, Br, Rb, Mo, Sb, Cs, Ba, La, Ce, Sm, Hf and Th) in ambient air dried and kept alive, by the means of hydroponics, moss baskets collected in 12 locations on the area of Tricity (Poland)....
