Magnetic superhydrophobic melamine sponges for crude oil removal from water
PublicationThis paper proposes the preparation of a new sorbent material based on melamine sponges (MS) with superhydrophobic, superoleophilic, and magnetic properties. This study involved impregnating the surface of commercially available MS with eco-friendly deep eutectic solvents (DES) and Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The DES selection was based on the screening of 105 eutectic mixtures using COSMO-RS modeling. Other parameters affecting the efficiency...

Magnetic instrumentation and other applications of magnets in NOTES
PublicationModern surgery is developing towards a minimally invasive approach. To minimize the trauma the number of ports is either limited as in single incision laparoscopic procedures or ports are introduced through natural orifices as in nat- ural orifice translumenal endoscopic surgery (NOTES). To provide surgeons with appropriate instrumentation novel technologies are employed involving magnets. This article summarizes the theoretical...

Spectroscopic and magnetic studies of highly dispersible superparamagnetic silica coated magnetite nanoparticles
PublicationSuperparamagnetic behavior in aqueously well dispersible magnetite core-shell Fe3O4@SiO2 nanoparticles is presented. The magnetic properties of core-shell nanoparticles were measured with use of the DC, AC magnetometry and EPR spectroscopy. Particles were characterized by HR-TEM and Raman spectroscopy, showing a crystalline magnetic core of 11.5 ± 0.12 nm and an amorphous silica shell of 22 ± 1.5 nm in thickness. The DC, AC magnetic...

Marcin Perzanowski dr inż.
PeopleHello, I work in the Department of Magnatic Materials and Nanostructures in the Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences in Kraków, Poland. My current research is focused on: (1) exchange bias in multilayers and nanostructures, (2) supermagnetic effects in low-dimensional materials, (3) perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in thin films and nanostructures. Collaborations, comments, and suggestions are welcomed! If...
