Modeling of capillary fluid flow in concrete using a DEM-CFD approach
PublicationSformułowano połączone podejście do modelowania dwufazowego przepływu wody napędzanego hydraulicznie i kapilarnie w nienasyconym betonie. Proces przepływu analizowano numerycznie w mezoskali w warunkach dwuwymiarowych (2D), łącząc metodę elementów dyskretnych (DEM) z obliczeniową dynamiką płynów (CFD) w warunkach izotermicznych. Przeprowadzono w pełni sprzężone hydromechaniczne testy symulacyjne na małych próbkach betonu o uproszczonej...

Meso‐scale analyses of size effect in brittle materials using DEM
PublicationThe paper describes numerical meso-scale results of a size effect on strength, brittleness and fracture in brittle materials like concrete. The discrete element method (DEM) was used to simulate the size effect during quasi-static splitting tension with the experimental-based meso-structure. The two-dimensional (2D) calculations were carried out on concrete cylindrical specimens with two diameters wherein two different failure...

Investigations of micro-structure evolution in granular shear zones using DEM.

Investigation of Transmit and Receive Characteristics of Laboratory Model for the Parametric Echosounder
PublicationInvestigation and operation of devices based on nonlinear interaction of high-intensity waves have been carried out for several decades. However, it is still a new tool to study the properties of the water environment and especially the upper layers of the seabed. This paper describes the results of tests of the new device that is intended to be applied for sounding underwater areas. The device has been designed and built in collaboration with...

CONDITIONING FACTORS OF INDUSTRY-UNIVERSITY COOPERATION FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF ENTERPRISES
PublicationThe cooperation between enterprises and universities varies in terms of character and intensity. Bearing in mind the potential represented by both parties, its low intensity is still noticed, and consequently, the lack or incomplete use of opportunities resulting from this cooperation. Current factors of industry-university cooperation were identified from the perspective of companies from biotechnology and pharmaceutical...
