Production of essential oils from in vitro cultures of Caryopteris species and comparison of their concentrations with in vivo plants
PublicationThe chemical composition of hydrodistilled essential oils obtained from aerial parts and roots of selected Caryopteris (‘bluebeard’) species (C. incana, C. mongolica, Caryopteris 9 clandonensis), as well as the newly established in vitro shoot and adventitious root cultures of the above plants, was analyzed by gas chromatography– mass spectrometry. Essential oil content and composition differed significantly depending on the type...

In Vitro Studies on Nanoporous, Nanotubular and Nanosponge-Like Titania Coatings, with the Use of Adipose-Derived Stem Cells
PublicationIn vitro biological research on a group of amorphous titania coatings of different nanoarchitectures (nanoporous, nanotubular, and nanosponge-like) produced on the surface of Ti6Al4V alloy samples have been carried out, aimed at assessing their ability to interact with adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADSCs) and affect their activity. The attention has been drawn to the influence of surface coating architecture and its physicochemical...

Fast Calibration-Free Single-Anchor Indoor Localization Based on Limited Number of ESPAR Antenna Radiation Patterns
Publication— In this article, we investigate how the calibrationfree single-anchor indoor localization algorithm developed for base stations equipped with electronically steerable parasitic array radiator (ESPAR) antennas can further be improved. By reducing the total number of ESPAR antenna radiation patterns used in localization process, one can significantly reduce the time needed for an object localization. Performed localization measurements...

Weak localization competes with the quantum oscillations in a natural electronic superlattice: The case of Na1.5(PO2)4(WO3)20
PublicationWe report an investigation of the combined structural and electronic properties of the bronze Na1.5(PO2)4(WO3)20. Its low-dimensional structure and possible large reconstruction of the Fermi surface due to charge density wave instability make this bulk material a natural superlattice with a reduced number of carriers and Fermi energy. Signatures of multilayered two-dimensional (2D) electron weak localization are consequently reported,...

Effect of boundary, shear rate and grain crushing on shear localization in granular materials within micro-polar hypoplasticity
PublicationW artykule przedstawiono wpływ 3 efektów na zachowanie się materiałów granulowanych: warunku brzegowego, prędkości ścinania oraz miażdżenia ziaren. Obliczenia wykonano przy pomocy mikropolarnego prawa hipoplastycznego rozszerzonego o efekt prędkości ścinania i miażdżenia ziaren w oparciu o teorię mechaniki zniszczenia. Szczególna uwagę zwrócono na rozkład lokalizacji odkształceń stycznych.

Modelling of shear localization during granular flow within non-local hypoplasticity using material point method
PublicationArtykuł omawia wyniki numeryczne dotyczące powstawania lokalizacji odkształceń stycznych w materiałach granulowanych Obliczenia wykonano dla ściskania dwuosiowego i przypływu silosowego stosując hipoplastyczny model konstytutywny rozszerzony o długość charakterystyczną w ramach nielokalnej teorii. Zastosowano podejście punktów materialnych w celu uniknięcia nadmiernej deformacji elementów skończonych.

FE investigations of dynamic shear localization in granular bodies within non-local hypoplasticity using ALE formulation

The Impact of Organizational Culture on Bicycle Commuting Frequency: The Research Based on Example of Three IT companies
PublicationThis chapter describes a study on work-related factors affecting employees’ decision on bicycle commuting. Employees’ transport choices are related to organizational culture. This chapter refers to E. Schein’s definition of organizational culture model. The study was made in order to determine the impact of specific levels of organizational culture on the transport behavior of employees. It is based on a survey performed in three...

Bioreactor shoot cultures of Rhododendron tomentosum (Ledum palustre) for a large-scale production of bioactive volatile compounds
PublicationRhododendron tomentosum Harmaja (Ledum palustre), a peat bog plant from Ericaceae family, has been used in traditional medicine as the anti-arthritis agent. Although modern researches confirm its anti-inflammatory properties, it remains threatened by habitat degradation and possibilities to collect this endangered species from its natural environment for further biological activity studies are limited. Therefore, R. tomentosum...

An LC-MS/MS Method for a Comprehensive Determination of Metabolites of BTEX Anaerobic Degradation in Bacterial Cultures and Groundwater
PublicationBTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and the different xylene isomers), known for carcinogenic and neurotoxic effects, are common environmental contaminants. The first step for the development of the bioremediation technologies is the detection of intense microbial degradation in contaminated waters in the quest for the most active bacterial strains. This requires the multispecies analysis for BTEX metabolites which are considered...

Lokalizacja obiektu ferromagnetycznego metodą magnetometryczną na równiku = Localization of ferromagnetic objects via magnetometric method near equator
PublicationIstnieje wiele metod wykrywania ukrytych w ziemi obiektów. Metody te można podzielić na pasywne i aktywne. Do metod pasywnych należy metoda magnetometryczna. Obiekt ferromagnetyczny zaburza w swoim otoczeniu równomierność pola magnetycznego. Korzystając z metody magnetometrycznej można to zburzenie zmierzyć i wykryć obiekt. W pracy przedstawiono nową metodę lokalizacji obiektów ferromagnetycznych metodą magnetometryczną znajdujących...
