Determination of authenticity of brand perfume using electronic nose prototypes
PublicationThe paper presents practical application of an electronic nose technique for fast and efficient discrimination between authentic and fake perfume samples. Two self-built electronic nose prototypes equipped with a set of semiconductor sensors were employed for that purpose. Additionally 10 volunteers took part in sensory analysis. The following perfumes and their fake counterparts were analysed: Dior – Fahrenheit, Eisenberg – J’ose,...

The potential of LC–MS technique in direct analysis of perfume content
PublicationPerfumes are products that consist of a wide range of natural and synthetic compounds. Due to complex composition, the determination of their ingredients is a difficult task. Most of the perfume components are either volatile or semi-volatile; however, most of the attention has been paid to volatile ones, and thus, gas chromatography or electronic noses are generally used. Nevertheless, in this study, liquid chromatography coupled...

High resolution liquid chromatography and time of flight mass spectrometry in perfume analysis
PublicationPerfumes consist of a wide range of natural and synthetic compounds that belongs to different chemical classes. Most of these compounds are generally determined by GC. However, in this study RP-HPLC-Q-TOF-MS and HILIC-Q-TOF-MS technique was applied for the determination of ingredients of original perfumes and their imitations. Antioxidants and compounds specific to fragrances of animal \origin were found in original...

A la recherche d’une coherence perdue – Possible Arguments for the Non-application of EU Law in Member States
PublicationThe European Union (EU) is an international organization which has a broad scope of competences that have been transferred to it by its Member States in the founding Treaties. The object of the article is to identify arguments raised, or that potentially might be raised, by national Constitutional Courts (and in the future possibly by other actors as well) to exclude in certain instances the application of EU law or EU jurisprudence...

TiO2-zeta potential
Open Research DataData contain results from the measurements of zeta potential of TiO2 versus pH. Data are saved as original files and in the format of Excel file. measurements were perfomed in Zetasizer Nano ZS with using Multi-Purpose Titrator MPT-2.

Valence and ionic lowest-lying electronic states of small esters studied by high resolution vacuum ultraviolet photoabsorption, photoelectron spectroscopy and ab initio calculations
PublicationEsters are an important class of oxygenated volatile organic compounds used in food flavorings, perfumes and other cosmetic products. They are present in fruits and pheromones and are emitted to the atmosphere naturally. Esters are also formed in the atmosphere as a product of the oxidation of ethers. Some of them form poly-molecule chains and are used in plastics. Phosphoesters form DNA backbone, while nitroesters are known for...

The XAS spectra of O-K edges, M-L edges and Ce-M edges in Ce0.9M0.1O2
Open Research DataThe dataset consists of XAS spectra of O-K edges, M-L edges of Ce0.9M0.1O2 (where M=Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu) synthesised by reverse microemulsion method. XAS spectra were collected at PIRX beamline in SOLARIS National Synchrotron Radiation Centre. Measurements were perfomed under ultra high vacuum in total electron yield (TEY) mode.

Convergence to equilibrium under a random Hamiltonian
PublicationWe analyze equilibration times of subsystems of a larger system under a random total Hamiltonian, in which the basis of the Hamiltonian is drawn from the Haar measure. We obtain that the time of equilibration is of the order of the inverse of the arithmetic average of the Bohr frequencies. To compute the average over a random basis, we compute the inverse of a matrix of overlaps of operators which permute four systems. We first...

Application of COSMO-RS-DARE as a Tool for Testing Consistency of Solubility Data: Case of Coumarin in Neat Alcohols
PublicationCoumarin is a naturally occurring lactone-type benzopyrone with various applications in the pharmaceutical, food, perfume, and cosmetics industries. This hydrophobic compound is poorly soluble in water but dissolves well in protic organic solvents such as alcohols. Despite the extensive use of coumarin, there are only a few reports documenting its solubility in organic solvents, and some reported data are incongruent, which...

A novel analytical approach in the assessment of unprocessed Kaffir lime peel and pulp as potential raw materials for cosmetic applications
PublicationVolatile fraction of fruits is a rich source of bioactive and aroma compounds, which can be used in the cosmetics industry after meeting relevant criteria. This is particularly evident in citrus fruits, especially in Citrus hystrix, in which the headspace consists mainly of terpenes. Due to the insufficient sensitivity of analytical methods, essential oils are used in investigations in contrast to fresh fruits. Therefore, a novel...
