Selective Protection for All-Optical Physical Impairment Constrained Routing
PublikacjaW przypadku sieci optycznych, zauważalna jest obecnie tendencja dążenia do transmisji całowicie optycznej (tz. bez konwersji O/E/O w węzłach tranzytowych). Jednakże w niedalekiej przyszłości, z uwagi na techniczne ograniczenia, niemożliwa będzie obsługa całości ruchu wyłącznie w dziedzinie optycznej. Operatorzy będą więc zainteresowani oferowaniem rozwiązań przejściowych implikujących przełączanie w dziedzinie optycznej jedynie...

Joint optimization of anycast and unicast flows in survivable optical networks
PublikacjaZnane z literatury dotychczasowe prace związane z ochroną ruchu przed awarią elementów sieci dotyczą transmisji typu unicast (jeden-do-jednego). Niniejszy artykuł jest pierwszym prezentującym rozwiązanie jednoczesnej ochrony transmisji anycast (jeden-do-jednego-z-wielu) oraz transmisji unicast. Proponowane podejście wykorzystuje model ochrony ścieżki (ang. path protection). Zagadnienie zostało sformułowane w postaci odpowiedniego...

Liveness measurements using optical flow for biometric person authentication

Studies on optical transmittance of boron-doped nanocrystalline diamond films
PublikacjaThickness is one of the most important parameters in many applications using thin layers. This article describes thickness determination of a boron-doped nanocrystalline diamond (NCD) grown on fused silica glass. A spectroscopic measurement system has been used. A high refractive index (2.3 at 550nm) was achieved for NCD films. The thickness of NCD samples has been determined from the transmission spectrum.

Influence of sensor design and optical properties of tissue on the photoplethysmographic signal
PublikacjaPhotopletysmography and an associated technique called pulse oximetry are still explored due to the expectations that they give a lot of information about the state of the patient and, also, due to the fact that they are non invasive. Knowledge about the impact of various parameters on the measured signal leads to a faster and a more reliable way of analyzing measurement results and finding the dependencies between the involved...

Nondestructive Optical Sensing of Flavonols and Chlorophyll in White Head Cabbage ( Brassica oleracea L. var. capitata subvar. alba ) Grown under Different Nitrogen Regimens
PublikacjaA multiparametric optical sensor was used to nondestructively estimate phytochemical compounds in white cabbage leaves directly in the field. An experimental site of 1980 white cabbages (Brassica oleracea L. var. capitata subvar. alba), under different nitrogen (N) treatments, was mapped by measuring leaf transmittance and chlorophyll fluorescence screening in one leaf/cabbage head. The provided indices of flavonols (FLAV) and...

In this work the most sensitive ones, namely long-period gratings working at (DTP-LPG) and micro-cavity in-line Mach-Zehnder interferometers (µIMZI) are discussed for application in bacteria sensing. We describe their working principles and RI sensitivity when operating in water...

The equations for interactions of polarization modes in optical fibres including the kerr effect
PublikacjaWe have derived coupled nonlinear Schro¨ dinger equations (CNLSE) for arbitrary polarized light propagation in a single-mode fibre employing electromagnetic field complete description. We used a basis of transverse eigenmodes with appropriate projecting; hence, the nonlinear constants depend on the waveguide geometry. Accounting for a weak nonlinearity, which is connected to the Kerr effect, we have given explicit expressions for...
