An Approximation of the Zero Error Capacity by a Greedy Algorithm
PublikacjaWe present a greedy algorithm that determines a lower bound on the zero error capacity. The algorithm has many new advantages, e.g., it does not store a whole product graph in a computer memory and it uses the so-called distributions in all dimensions to get a better approximation of the zero error capacity. We also show an additional application of our algorithm.

Improved magnitude estimation of complex numbers using alpha max and beta min algorithm
PublikacjaThe paper presents an improved algorithm for calculating the magnitude of complex numbers. This problem, which is a special case of square rooting, occurs for example, in FFT processors and complex FIR filters. The proposed method of magnitude calculation makes use of the modified alpha max and beta min algorithm. The improved version of the algorithm allows to control the maximum magnitude approximation error by using an adequate...

Sensitivity analysis of critical loads of I-columns
PublikacjaThe first order variation of critical buckling load of thin-walled columns with bisymmetric open cross-section due to some variations of the design variables such as: cross-section dimensions, or material characteristics is derived. The influence of the residual welding stresses is taken into account. In the numerical examples dealing with I-column the functions describing the effect of the variation of the dimensions of the flange...

FPGA realization of an improved alpha max plus beta min algorithm
PublikacjaThe generalized improved version of the alpha max plus beta min square-rooting algorithm and its realization in the Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) are presented. The algorithm computes the square root to calculate the approximate magnitude of a complex sample. It is especially useful for pipelined calculations in the DSP. In case of four approximation regions it is possible to reduce the peak error form 3.95% to 0.33%. This...

Global Surrogate Modeling by Neural Network-Based Model Uncertainty
PublikacjaThis work proposes a novel adaptive global surrogate modeling algorithm which uses two neural networks, one for prediction and the other for the model uncertainty. Specifically, the algorithm proceeds in cycles and adaptively enhances the neural network-based surrogate model by selecting the next sampling points guided by an auxiliary neural network approximation of the spatial error. The proposed algorithm is tested numerically...

FIR Filter Design Using Distributed Maximal Flatness Method
PublikacjaIn the paper a novel method for filter design based on the distributed maximal flatness method is presented. The proposed approach is based on the method used to design the most common FIR fractional delay filter - the maximally flat filter. The MF filter demonstrates excellent performance but only in a relatively narrow frequency range around zero frequency but its magnitude response is no greater than one. This ,,passiveness”...

Neural Approximators for Variable-Order Fractional Calculus Operators (VO-FC)
PublikacjaThe paper presents research on the approximation of variable-order fractional operators by recurrent neural networks. The research focuses on two basic variable-order fractional operators, i.e., integrator and differentiator. The study includes variations of the order of each fractional operator. The recurrent neural network architecture based on GRU (Gated Recurrent Unit) cells functioned as a neural approximation for selected...

Improved model of isothermal and incompressible fluid flow in pipelines versus the Darcy–Weisbach equation and the issue of friction factor
PublikacjaIn this article, we consider the modelling of stationary incompressible and isothermal one-dimensional fluid flow through a long pipeline. The approximation of the average pressure in the developed model by the arithmetic mean of inlet and outlet pressures leads to the known empirical Darcy–Weisbach equation. Most importantly, we also present another improved approach that is more accurate because the average pressure is estimated...

Resistant to correlated noise and outliers discrete identification of continuous non-linear non-stationary dynamic objects
PublikacjaIn this article, specific methods of parameter estimation were used to identify the coefficients of continuous models represented by linear and nonlinear differential equations. The necessary discrete-time approximation of the base model is achieved by appropriately tuned FIR linear integral filters. The resulting discrete descriptions, which retain the original continuous parameterization, can then be identified using the classical...

Dynamical description of quantum computing: generic nonlocality of quantumnoise
PublikacjaWe develop a dynamical non-Markovian description of quantum computing in the weak-coupling limit, in the lowest-order approximation. We show that the long-range memory of the quantum reservoir (such as the 1/t4 one exhibited by electromagnetic vacuum) produces a strong interrelation between the structure of noise and the quantum algorithm, implying nonlocal attacks of noise. This shows that the implicit assumption of quantum error...

Application of discrete wavelet transform in seismic nonlinear analysis of soil–structure interaction problems
PublikacjaSimulation of soil-structure interaction (SSI) effects is a time-consuming and costly process. However, ignoring the influence of SSI on structural response may lead to inaccurate results, especially in the case of seismic nonlinear analysis. In this paper, wavelet transform methodology has been utilized for investigation of the seismic response of soil-structure systems. For this purpose, different storey outrigger braced buildings...

A Compact Basis for Reliable Fast Frequency Sweep via the Reduced-Basis Method
PublikacjaA reliable reduced-order model (ROM) for fast frequency sweep in time-harmonic Maxwell’s equations by means of the reduced-basis method is detailed. Taking frequency as a parameter, the electromagnetic field in microwave circuits does not arbitrarily vary as frequency changes, but evolves on a very low-dimensional manifold. Approximating this low-dimensional manifold by a low dimension subspace, namely, reduced-basis space, gives...

Spectrum Sensing Based on Hybrid Spectrum Handoff in Cognitive Radio Networks
PublikacjaThe rapid advancement of wireless communication combined with insufficient spectrum exploitation opens the door for the expansion of novel wireless services. Cognitive radio network (CRN) technology makes it possible to periodically access the open spectrum bands, which in turn improves the effectiveness of CRNs. Spectrum sensing (SS), which allows unauthorized users to locate open spectrum bands, plays a fundamental part in CRNs....

Evaluation of Body Surface Area Formulae Based on 3D Body Scans
PublikacjaHuman body surface area (BSA) is an established parameter for the calculation of chemotherapy drugs dosage, treatment of chronic hepatitis B, treatment of burns or for establishing a dosing regimen for antimicrobials. Although being a critical parameter, usage of modern 3D scanners, which would measure the exact BSA value, is often impossible in time-sensitive operations or for patients unable to withstand the scanning process....

Polish Adaptation of the Pregnancy-Related Anxiety Questionnaire—Revised 2 for All Pregnant Women
PublikacjaPregnancy-related anxiety (PrA) is a specific type of anxiety characteristic of the perinatal period. PrA can affect pregnancy and birth. However, no validated tool exists to measure PrA in Polish obstetric practice. The aim of this study was to translate the Pregnancy-Related Anxiety Questionnaire—Revised 2 (PRAQ-R2) into Polish and to evaluate its reliability and factorial and construct validity. This study was conducted in Poland...

Discrete identification of continuous non-linear and non-stationary dynamical systems that is insensitive to noise correlation and measurement outliers
PublikacjaThe paper uses specific parameter estimation methods to identify the coefficients of continuous-time models represented by linear and non-linear ordinary differential equations. The necessary approximation of such systems in discrete time in the form of utility models is achieved by the use of properly tuned `integrating filters' of the FIR type. The resulting discrete-time descriptions retain the original continuous parameterization...

Wykorzystując nieklasyczny rachunek operatorów można wyznaczyć wzór na odpowiedź wymiennika ciepła, w którym występuje m.in. całka funkcji jednej zmiennej. Do obliczenia wartości całki dla ustalonych parametrów zastosowano wzory Newtona - Cotesa. Podano również oszacowanie błędu przybliżonego obliczania wartości...
