  • Autonomous, Ground Based, Self-Organizing Radiolocation Systems - AEGIR

    Publikacja

This article describes the construction and operation of autonomous ground-based radiolocation system that was developed as a technology demonstrator at the Technical University of Gdansk. Preliminary results and conclusions will be presented as well as analysis of its effectiveness. There will be also described the basic blocks of the system.

  • Ground-based, Hyperbolic Radiolocation System with Spread Spectrum Signal - AEGIR

The most popular radiolocation systems in the world (at present), is the American GPS (Global Positioning System). It is managed by the Department of Defense and there is always the possibility of the occasional inaccuracies or deliberate introduction of errors that prevent its use by the special services or armies of other countries than the U.S.A. This situation has spawned the need to develop an autonomous, ground-based radiolocation...

  • Path Loss Modelling for Location Service Applications

The aim of this paper is the path loss modeling for the radiolocation services in radiocommunication networks, particularly in cellular networks. The main results of the measurements obtained in the physical layer of the UMTS are introduced. A new method for the utilization of the multipath propagation phenomenon to improve the estimation of the distance between the mobile station (MS) and the base station (BS) is outlined. This...

  • Silent Sonar with matched filtration

Radars with continuous wave frequency (CW FM sonars) are used in radiolocation as 'silent sonars'. They determine the distance to target by measuring the difference between the frequency of the sounding signal and echo signal. The article presents the principle of operation and parameters of silent CW FM sonars. Target distance determined by these sonars is based on the signal at the output of the matched filter. The Doppler effect...

  • Radio Link Measurement Methodology for Location Service Applications

The aim of this paper is the methodology of measurements executed in a radio link for the realization of radiolocation services in radiocommunication networks, particularly in cellular networks. The main results of the measurements obtained in the physical layer of the universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) are introduced. A new method for the utilization of the multipath propagation phenomenon to improve the estimation...

  • Sonar Pulse Detection Using Chirp Rate Estimation and CFAR Algorithms

    Publikacja

This paper presents a new approach to sonar pulse detection. The method uses chirp rate estimators and algorithms for the adaptive threshold, commonly used in radiolocation. The proposed approach allows detection of pulses of unknown parameters, which may be used in passive hydrolocation or jamming detection in underwater communication. Such an analysis is possible thanks to a new kind of imaging, which presents signal energy in...

  • Asynchronous WAM with Irregular Pulse Repetition

Radiolocation systems for aviation based on Multi-Lateration (MLAT) typically use a set of synchronised ground sensors to receive radio signals broadcast by onboard transmitters. In most cases, the sensor synchronisation in Wide Area Multi-Lateration Systems (WAM) is provided by Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers. However, in the case of synchronisation failure, there is still a possibility to estimate the coordinates...

  • Comparative Analysis of Two Polish Hyperbolic Systems AEGIR and JEMIOLUSZKA

Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is seen by terrorists or hostile countries as a high value target. Volpe Center report contains the following statement: “During the course of its development for military use and more recent extension to many civilian uses, vulnerabilities of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) – in the United States the Global Positioning System (GPS) – have become apparent. The vulnerabilities...

  • Hyperbolic Asynchronous Method of a Radio Navigation Technique

Humans have always wanted to determine position in an unknown environment. At the beginning methods were simple. They were based on the observation of characteristic points, in the case of shipping additional observations of the coastline. Then came navigation based on astronomical methods (astronavigation). At the beginning of the XX-century a new way of determining the current location was developed. It has used radiowave signals....

  • ASYNCHRONICZNE METODY RADIOLOKALIZACYJNE

    Publikacja

    - Rok 2018

W pracy przedstawiono wybrane problemy lokalizowania obiektów w asynchronicznych sieciach radiowych. W pierwszej kolejności zostały zdefiniowane kryteria jakościowe do oceny efektywności pracy opracowanych metod oraz przedstawiono model symulacyjny, który został użyty do badań. W kolejnych trzech rozdziałach szczegółowo opisano trzy oryginalne asynchroniczne metody radiolokalizacyjne w różnych wariantach. Przeprowadzono analizę...

  • Low Cost Method for Location Service in the WCDMA System

A new and low cost method for a location service (LCS) in the Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) system is outlined. This method, which is called TDOA + RTT, enables calculation of the geographical position of a mobile station (MS) without knowledge of relative time differences (RTDs) between base stations (BSs). The TDOA+RTT method is based on the measurement of round trip times (RTTs) between the MS and the serving...
