Elimination of impulsive disturbances from archive audio files – comparison of three noise pulse detection schemes
PublicationThe problem of elimination of impulsive disturbances (such as clicks, pops, ticks, crackles, and record scratches) from archive audio recordings is considered and solved using autoregressive modeling. Three classical noise pulse detection schemes are examined and compared: the approach based on open-loop multi-step-ahead signal prediction, the approach based on decision-feedback signal prediction, and the double threshold approach,...

Sonar Pulse Detection Using Chirp Rate Estimation and CFAR Algorithms
PublicationThis paper presents a new approach to sonar pulse detection. The method uses chirp rate estimators and algorithms for the adaptive threshold, commonly used in radiolocation. The proposed approach allows detection of pulses of unknown parameters, which may be used in passive hydrolocation or jamming detection in underwater communication. Such an analysis is possible thanks to a new kind of imaging, which presents signal energy in...

Silence/noise detection for speech and music signals
PublicationThis paper introduces a novel off-line algorithm for silence/noise detection in noisy signals. The main concept of the proposed algorithm is to provide noise patterns for further signals processing i.e. noise reduction for speech enhancement. The algorithm is based on frequency domain characteristics of signals. The examples of different types of noisy signals are presented.

Two-stage method of impulsive noise detection for audio signals
PublicationPrzedstawiono nowa dwuetapową metodę detekcji zakłóceń impulsowych opartą na analizie funkcji gęstości rozkładu prawdopodobieństwa zakłóconego sygnału. Opisano algorytm określania poziomu wyzwalania detektora progowego.

Higher-order spectra for harmonics detection in nonlinear systems at presence of Gaussian noise.
PublicationPrzedstawiono metodę wykrywania harmonicznych w ukladach nieliniowych za pomocą funkcji bispektrum. Przebadano skuteczność proponowanej metody w porównaniu z metodą wykorzystującą gęstość widmową mocy. Badania przeprowadzono dla sygnałów będących sumą sygnału harmonicznego i realizacji szumu białego.

Detection, classification and localization of acoustic events in the presence of background noise for acoustic surveillance of hazardous situations
PublicationEvaluation of sound event detection, classification and localization of hazardous acoustic events in the presence of background noise of different types and changing intensities is presented. The methods for discerning between the events being in focus and the acoustic background are introduced. The classifier, based on a Support Vector Machine algorithm, is described. The set of features and samples used for the training of the...

Evaluation of sound event detection, classification and localization in the presence of background noise for acoustic surveillance of hazardous situations
PublicationAn evaluation of the sound event detection, classification and localization of hazardous acoustic events in the presence of background noise of different types and changing intensities is presented. The methods for separating foreground events from the acoustic background are introduced. The classifier, based on a Support Vector Machine algorithm, is described. The set of features and samples used for the training of the classifier...

Theoretical and experimental investigation of low-noise optoelectronic system configurations for low-coherent optical signal detection
PublicationW artykule przedstawiono wyniki teoretycznej i eksperymentalnej analizy konfiguracji niskokoherencyjnego układu detekcji sygnałów optycznych. Zaprezentowano zaprojektowany układ detekcji optycznych sygnałów niskokoherencyjnych, który pozwala na pracę w konfiguracji zrównoważonej i niezrównoważonej, co umożliwia porównanie parametrów obu konfiguracji.

Ultra-Wideband Vivaldi Antenna with an Integrated Noise-Rejecting Parasitic Notch Filter for Online Partial Discharge Detection
PublicationPower transformers and gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) play crucial roles in electrical power grids. However, they may suffer from degradation of insulation material due to wear and tear, leading to their imminent failure. Partial discharges (PDs) are an initial sign of insulation materials degradation which emit signals spanning various physical domains, including electromagnetic. PDs are temporally narrow, high-frequency, stochastic...
