On analytical solution of stationary two dimensional boundary problem of natural convection
PublicationApproximate analytical solution of two dimensional problem for sta- tionary Navier-Stokes, continuity and Fourier-Kirchho equations describ- ing free convective heat transfer from isothermal surface of half innite vertical plate is presented. The problem formulation is based on the typ- ical for natural convection assumptions: the uid noncompressibility and Boussinesq approximation. We also assume that orthogonal to the plate component...

Some Problems of Heat and Power Distributed Generation Control = Wybrane zagadnienia sterowania automatycznego rozproszonego wytwarzania energii elektrycznej i ciepła
PublicationRozproszone wytwarzanie energii elektrycznej wnosi pewne problemy z punktu widzenia współpracy z zewnętrznym systemem elektroenergetycznym. Wynikają one z koniecznością zapewnienia należytej jakości energii elektrycznej (częstotliwości i napięcia). Są one tym większe im większą moc ma tego rodzaju źródło energii elektrycznej oraz im jest większa zmienność jego mocy. Z tego powodu największe trudności regulacyjne sprawiają farmy...

Karaś P., Kochanowicz K., Pitek M., Domański P., Obuchowski I., Tomiczek B., Liberek K.: Evolution towards simplicity in bacterial small heat shock protein system// eLife -, (2023), s.1-21
PublicationEvolution can tinker with multi-protein machines and replace them with simpler single-protein systems performing equivalent functions in an equally efficient manner. It is unclear how, on a molecular level, such simplification can arise. With ancestral reconstruction and biochemical analysis, we have traced the evolution of bacterial small heat shock proteins (sHsp), which help to refold proteins from aggregates using either...

Thermodynamic Cycles of Air Microturbine Power Plants Working on Biomass Fuels
PublicationThe gas turbine engine is modified to work as an air turbine set which consists, in the simplest arrangement, of a compressor, a heat exchanger and a turbine. Air is a working medium for both: the compressor and the turbine. This kind of air turbine set can be applied in power plants working on biomass fuels. In this solution we can burn fuels of varying parameters in the external combustion chamber without any harmful effects...

Novel Analytic-Numerical Model of Free Convection: with Leading Edge Considered
PublicationA novel solution of the free convection boundary problem is represented in analytical form for velocity and temperature for an isothermal vertical plate, as an example. These fields are built as a Taylor Series in the x coordinate with coefficients as functions of the vertical coordinate (y). We restrict ourselves by cubic approximation for both functions. The basic Navier-Stokes and Fourier-Kirchhoff equations and boundary conditions...

Thermal and Hydrodynamic Phenomena in the Stagnation Zone — Impact of the Inlet Turbulence Characteristics on the Numerical Analyses
PublicationOne of the methods of heat transfer enhancement is utilization of the turbulent impinging jets, which were recently applied, for example, in the heat exchangers. Their positive impact on the heat transfer performance was proven, but many questions related to the origin of this impact are still unanswered. In general, the wall-jet interaction and the near-wall turbulence are supposed to be its main reason, but their accurate numerical...

Both balancing and infrared experimental investigations were performed in air (Pr = 0.71) to estimate the impact of channel width s and wall-to-ambient temperature difference (tw - t∞) on natural convective heat transfer, the formation of air flow patterns and the rate of flow pattern formation. The study was...
