Emissions and toxic units of solvent, monomer and additive residues released to gaseous phase from latex balloons
PublicationThis study describes the VOCs emissions from commercially available latex balloons. Nine compounds are determined to be emitted from 13 types of balloons of different colors and imprints in 30 and 60°C. The average values of total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) emitted from studied samples ranged from 0.054 up to 7.18 μg∙g-1 and from 0.27 up to 36.13 μg∙g-1 for 30oC and 60oC, respectively. The dataset is treated with principal...

MODELLING OF TOXIC COMPOUNDS EMISSION IN MARINE DIESEL ENGINE DURING TRANSIENT STATES AT VARIABLE PRESSURE OF FUEL INJECTION
PublicationTransient states are an important part of the spectrum of engine loads, especially the traction engines. In the case of marine diesel engines, transient states are of particular importance in reducing the analysis of motion units for special areas and maneuvering in port, the participation of transient states in the load spectrum significantly increases, also, the emission of toxic compounds from this period increases proportionally....

STRUCTURE AND ALGORITHMS OF A DIAGNOSTIC DEVICE IN A WHEELED TRACTOR
PublicationDiagnostic device monitors the tractor’s technical condition and identifies the location of damaged components during operation. The diagnostic device detects and identifies the following types of defects: functional defects (uf) which affect performance, exhaust defects (ue) which increase toxic emissions and fuel consumption, defects that jeopardize driving safety (us), defects that affect engine performance (ud). The key component...

Cyanobacterial occurence in the Kociewskie lakes (2004)
Open Research DataThis dataset includes information about the cyanobacterial occurrence in 3 lakes in the region Kociewie (northern Poland), in 2004. Presented data concern basic physicochemical and biological parameters of sampled waters (temperature, pH, Chl a), the occurence of potentially toxic cyanobacterial species, and the type and concentration of toxins (microcystin)...

Diagnostic system of wheeled tractors detecting four defect's categories
PublicationIn a classical approach to damage diagnosis, the technical condition of an analyzed machine is identified based on the measured symptoms, such as performance, thermal state or vibration parameters. In wheeled tractor the fundamental importance has monitoring and diagnostics during exploitation concerning technical inspection and fault element localizations. The main functions of a diagnostic system are: monitoring tractor components...

Monitoring Lead Concentration in the Surrounding Environmental Components of a Lead Battery Company: Plants, Air and Effluents—Case Study, Kenya
PublicationLead (Pb) pollution from smelters and lead–acid battery has become a serious problem worldwide owing to its toxic nature as a heavy metal. Stricter regulations and monitoring strategies have been formulated, legislated and implemented in various parts of the world on heavy metal usage. Developed countries such as the USA and in Europe largely operate within the set standards, however, developing countries such as Kenya, Nigeria...

Effective assessment of biopolymer-based multifunctional sorbents for the remediation of environmentally hazardous contaminants from aqueous solutions
PublicationPersistent contaminants in wastewater effluent pose a significant threat to aquatic life and are one of the most significant environmental concerns of our time. Although there are a variety of traditional methods available in wastewater treatment, including adsorption, coagulation, flocculation, ion exchange, membrane filtration, co-precipitation and solvent extraction, none of these have been found to be significantly cost-effective...

Phytoplankton in the Gulf of Gdańsk– microscope photos archive
Open Research DataHarmful blooms of cyanobacteria an dinoflagellates are recorded every year in various areas of the Baltic Sea. The data set contains photos of potentially toxic phytoplankton species found in the Gulf of Gdańsk and Puck Bay. These photos show potentialy toxic cyanobacteria and dinoflagellates observed in the surface water samples collected between 2010-2020....

The surface of the sensor used in the analysis of odorous substances
Open Research DataHuman industrial activity usually leads to smaller or larger interference with the ecosystem, contributing to changes affecting the quality of life. An example may be the emission of gaseous substances, not necessarily toxic, but due to their intense smell, they can cause discomfort to people exposed to their inhalation. The problem is so important...

A set of data constituting the basis for the publication entitled "Mitochondria dysfunction is one of the causes of diclofenac toxicity in the green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii"
Open Research DataNon-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as diclofenac (DCF), form a significant group of environmental contaminants. When the toxic effects of DCF on plants are analyzed, authors often focus on photosynthesis, whilemitochondrial respiration is usually overlooked. Therefore, an in vivo investigation of plant mitochondria functioning under...
