Natural fish oil improves the differentiation and maturation of oligodendrocyte precursor cells to oligodendrocytes in vitro after interaction with the blood–brain barrier
PublikacjaThe blood–brain barrier (BBB) tightly controls the microenvironment of the central nervous system (CNS) to allow neurons to function properly. Additionally, emerging studies point to the beneficial effect of natural oils affecting a wide variety of physiological and pathological processes in the human body. In this study, using an in vitro model of the BBB, we tested the influence of natural fish oil mixture (FOM) vs. borage oil...

Keratinocyte-derived small extracellular vesicles supply antigens for CD1a-resticted T cells and promote their type 2 bias in the context of filaggrin insufficiency
PublikacjaIntroduction: Exosome-enriched small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) are nanosized organelles known to participate in long distance communication between cells, including in the skin. Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease for which filaggrin (FLG) gene mutations are the strongest genetic risk factor. Filaggrin insufficiency affects multiple cellular function, but it is unclear if sEV-mediated cellular communication...

Immunological response of sheep to injections of plasmids encoding Toxoplasma gondii SAG1 and ROP1 genes
PublikacjaInfection with the intracellular protozoan parasite Toxo¬plasma gondii (T. gondii) causes health problems to both humans and livestock and has a large economic impact worldwide. The immune response in sheep following infection with T. gondii was evaluated using six different combinations of plasmid DNA, recombinant antigen and adjuvant. Sheep were generally vaccinated twice by intramuscular injection with plasmid DNA containing...

Novel Nystatin A1 derivatives exhibiting low host cell toxicity and antifungal activity in an in vitro model of oral candidosis
PublikacjaOpportunistic oral infections caused by Candida albicans are frequent problems in immunocompromised patients. Management of such infections is limited due to the low number of antifungal drugs available, their relatively high toxicity and the emergence of antifungal resistance. Given these issues, our investigations have focused on novel derivatives of the antifungal antibiotic Nystatin A1, generated by modifications at the amino...

GRA2 and ROP1 recombinant antigens as potential markers for detection of Toxoplasma gondii-specific immunoglobulin G in humans with acute toxoplasmosis.
PublikacjaArtykuł przedstawia oszacowanie przydatności w serodiagnostyce toksoplazmozy dwóch rekombinatowych białek antygenowych GRA2 i ROP1 Toxoplasma gondii.

Toxoplasma gondii recombinant antigens as tools for serodiagnosis of human toxoplasmosis: current status of studies
PublikacjaToxoplasma gondii is a parasitic protozoan which is the cause of toxoplasmosis. Although human toxoplasmosis in healthy adults is usually asymptomatic, serious disease can occur in the case of congenital infections and immunocompromised individuals. Furthermore, despite the exact recognition of its etiology, it still presents a diagnostic problem. Diagnosis of toxoplasmosis is mainly based on the results of serological tests detecting...

The immune responses of sheep after DNA immunization with Toxoplasma gondii MAG1 antigen - with and without co-expression of ovine interleukin 6
PublikacjaW niniejszej pracy porównano odpowiedź immunologiczną owiec, którym podano domięśniowo plazmid DNA zawierający gen kodujący białko macierzy cyst tkankowych (MAG1) Toxoplasma gondii - pojedynczo bądź z DNA plazmidu kodującego owczą interleukinę 6 (IL-6). Dzięki wykorzystaniu plazmidu zawierającego gen mag1 odnotowano podwyższony poziom przeciwciał IgG1 oraz IgG2 w surowicach szczepionych zwierząt.

A new MIC1-MAG1 recombinant chimeric antigen can be used instead of the Toxoplasma lysate antigen in the serodiagnosis of human toxoplasmosis
PublikacjaW niniejszej publikacji po raz pierwszy przedstawiono otrzymanie i oszacowanie przydatności diagnostycznej nowego chimerycznego antygenu MIC1-MAG1 Toxoplasma gondii do rozpoznawania toksoplazmozy u ludzi. Antygen chimeryczny MIC1-MAG1 został otrzymany jako białko fuzyjne zawierające dwie domeny oligohistydynowe na N- i C-końcu z użyciem systemu ekspresyjnego Escherichia coli. Po oczyszczeniu z wykorzystaniem metody chromatografii...
