  • New Approach to Noncasual Identification of Nonstationary Stochastic FIR Systems Subject to Both Smooth and Abrupt Parameter Changes

In this technical note, we consider the problem of finite-interval parameter smoothing for a class of nonstationary linear stochastic systems subject to both smooth and abrupt parameter changes. The proposed parallel estimation scheme combines the estimates yielded by several exponentially weighted basis function algorithms. The resulting smoother automatically adjusts its smoothing bandwidth to the type and rate of nonstationarity...

  • Ice Load Characteristics on Floating Photovoltaic Platform

    Publikacja

Nowadays, based upon human needs and preferring perpetual types of energy, photovoltaic system (PV) is a suitable alternative and more frequently used in northern countries, which are recently more attracted by solar power. The new floating type of the structure is installed in the water bodies instead of land. One of the main elements in floating photovoltaic structures is the forces imposed on the panels. In the northern regions,...

  • Self-optimizing generalized adaptive notch filters - comparison of three optimization strategies

    Publikacja

The paper provides comparison of three different approaches to on-line tuning of generalized adaptive notch filters (GANFs) the algorithms used for identification/tracking of quasi-periodically varying dynamic systems. Tuning is needed to adjust adaptation gains, which control tracking performance of ANF algorithms, to the unknown and/or time time-varying rate of system nonstationarity. Two out ofthree compared approaches are classical...

    - ANNUAL REVIEWS IN CONTROL - Rok 2015

Classical applications of control engineering and information and communication technology (ICT) in production and logistics are often done in a rigid, centralized and hierarchical way. These inflexible approaches are typically not able to cope with the complexities of the manufacturing environment, such as the instabilities, uncertainties and abrupt changes caused by internal and external disturbances, or a large number and variety...

    - APPLIED PHYSICS LETTERS - Rok 2021

We report on the depinning of nearly commensurate charge-density waves in 1T-TaS2 thin films at room temperature. A combination of the differential current–voltage measurements with the low-frequency noise spectroscopy provides unambiguous means for detecting the depinning threshold field in quasi-2D materials. The depinning process in 1T-TaS2 is not accompanied by an observable abrupt increase in electric current—in striking contrast...

  • Windowing of the Discrete Green's Function for Accurate FDTD Computations

    Publikacja

    - Rok 2013

The paper presents systematic evaluation of the applicability of parametric and nonparametric window functions for truncation of the discrete Green's function (DGF). This function is directly derived from the FDTD update equations, thus the FDTD method and its integral discrete formulation can be perfectly coupled using DGF. Unfortunately, the DGF computations require processor time, hence DGF has to be truncated with appropriate...

  • Using Long-Short term Memory networks with Genetic Algorithm to predict engine condition

    Publikacja

    - Gazi University Journal of Science - Rok 2022

Predictive maintenance (PdM) is a type of approach for maintenance processes, allowing maintenance actions to be managed depending on the machine's current condition. Maintenance is therefore carried out before failures occur. The approach doesn’t only help avoid abrupt failures but also helps lower maintenance cost and provides possibilities to manufacturers to manage maintenance budgets in a more efficient way. A new deep neural...

In Poland, in 2020, the mass of dangerous goods (loads) transported by rail was 26 151.06 thousand tone. This translated into the performance of 8 899 691.89 thousand tone - km of transport performance. In 2020, these figures accounted for 11.72% of the weight of goods transported by rail. The situation is similar in other countries around the world. With such a large volume of transport of dangerous...

  • A Robust Random Forest Model for Classifying the Severity of Partial Discharges in Dielectrics

    Publikacja

    - Rok 2024

Partial Discharges (PDs) are a common source of degradation in electrical assets. It is essential that the extent of the deterioration level of insulating medium is correctly identified, to optimize maintenance schedules and prevent abrupt power outages. Temporal PD signals received from damaged insulation, collected through the IEC-60270 method is the gold standard for PD detection. Temporal signals may be transformed to the frequency...

  • A MEASUREMENT SYSTEM FOR MONITORING CARDIOVASCULAR EVENTS IN SYNCOPE PATIENTS

    Publikacja

Syncope phenomena is an abrupt and transient loss of consciousness leading to interruption of awareness of one’s surroundings and falls with risk of injury. Syncope is often followed by complete and usually rapid spontaneous recovery. It is said that half of all individuals experience syncopal event at least once during their life. The condition can occur at any age and happens in people with and without other medical problems....

  • Fast Algorithms for Identification of Time-Varying Systems with Both Smooth and Discontinuous Parameter Changes

    Publikacja

The problem of noncausal identification of a time-varying linear system subject to both smooth and occasional jump-type changes is considered and solved using the preestimation technique combined with the basis function approach to modeling the variability of system parameters. The proposed estimation algorithms yield very good parameter tracking results and are computationally attractive.
