Automated Detection of Sleep Apnea and Hypopnea Events Based on Robust Airflow Envelope Tracking in the Presence of Breathing Artifacts. - [IEEE JOURNAL OF BIOMEDICAL AND HEALTH INFORMATICS]
PublikacjaThe paper presents a new approach to detection of apnea/hypopnea events, in the presence of artifacts and breathing irregularities, from a single channel airflow record. The proposed algorithm, based on a robust envelope detector , identifies segments of signal affected by a high amplitude mo d- ulation corresponding to apnea/hypopnea events. It is show n that a robust airflow envelope - free of breathing artifacts - improves effectiveness...

Measuring Pulse Rate with a Webcam
PublikacjaIn this paper a simple method of measuring the pulse rate is presented. Elaborated algorithm allows for efficient pulse rate registration directly from face images captured from a webcam. The desired signal is obtained by proper channel selection and principal component analysis. To determine the accuracy of the method an ECG signal is collected together with a video recordings. The effectiveness of the algorithm is considered...

Real-Time Facial Features Detection from Low Resolution Thermal Images with Deep Classification Models
PublikacjaDeep networks have already shown a spectacular success for object classification and detection for various applications from everyday use cases to advanced medical problems. The main advantage of the classification models over the detection models is less time and effort needed for dataset preparation, because classification networks do not require bounding box annotations, but labels at the image level only. Yet, after passing...

The Evaluation of Use of Colors in Graphical User-Interfaces in Healthcare
PublikacjaIn this paper, color difference/contrast measures are investigated in reference to results of experiments with the participation of average, color-normal observers and with individuals with deuteranopia. Additionally, a new method for the automatic analysis of color contrast is proposed, which supports designers of graphical user- interfaces in healthcare. The method was verified using the GUI phantom of a vital signs monitor (the...

Active and Dynamic Graphical Code for Object Identification in Healthcare
PublikacjaA new approach for item marking using two dimensional discrete graphics markers. Proposed solution allow o change the code rapidly, upon request and in the case of thermal markers make the code invisible for unauthorized observers. Connecting the proposed codes with wearable multmedial platform such as eGlasses can create new possibilities in human-environment interaction.

A Special Section on Intelligent User Interfaces in Healthcare (IUIH)
PublikacjaA concept of interface has evolved from the first appearance in the form of a command line interface to the established use of direct manipulation or WIMP (windows, icons, menus and pointing) interfaces in nearly all applications. Intelligent user interfaces (IUI) form a subfield of Human-Computer Interaction research. Optimal human-computer interactions are defined as ones where users are able to perform complex tasks more quickly...

Color Processing for Color-Blind Individuals Using Smart Glasses
PublikacjaIn this paper we investigated image processing methods for color-blind individuals. In particular we experimentally verified color naming procedure, generation of maps with color perception differences for average observers and for dichromats, and two color transformation methods. In experiments 7 mobile devices were used: 3 smart glasses and 4 smartphones. User studies were performed with 38 average observers and 9 dichromats....

Visual Attention Distribution Based Assessment of User's Skill in Electronic Medical Record Navigation
PublikacjaCurrently, the most precise way of reflecting the skills level is an expert’s subjective assessment. In this paper we investigate the possibility of the use of eye tracking data for scalar quantitative and objective assessment of medical staff competency in EMR system navigation. According to the experiment conducted by Yarbus the observation process of particular features is associated with thinking. Moreover, eye tracking is...

Feasibility Study for Food Intake Tasks Recognition Based on Smart Glasses
PublikacjaIn this exploratory study 13 adult test subjects have performed different food intake tasks while wearing a three axis accelerometer mounted at a temple of glasses. Two different algorithms for task recognition have been applied and compared. The retrospective data processing leads to better task recognition results when the frequency range of 50 Hz to 100 Hz is analysed within accelerometer signal recordings. A straightforward...

Monitoring of a bathing person
W artykule pokazano metodę pomiaru, dokonano analizy czułości, zaprezentowano prototyp układu pomiarowego i wyniki wstępnych pomiarów.
