Electromagnetic Problems Requiring High-Precision Computations
PublikacjaAn overview of the applications of multiple-precision arithmetic in CEM was presented in this paper for the first time. Although double-precision floating-point arithmetic is sufficient for most scientific computations, there is an expanding body of electromagnetic problems requiring multiple-precision arithmetic. Software libraries facilitating these computations were described, and investigations requiring multiple-precision...

Tuning a Hybrid GPU-CPU V-Cycle Multilevel Preconditioner for Solving Large Real and Complex Systems of FEM Equations
PublikacjaThis letter presents techniques for tuning an accelerated preconditioned conjugate gradient solver with a multilevel preconditioner. The solver is optimized for a fast solution of sparse systems of equations arising in computational electromagnetics in a finite element method using higher-order elements. The goal of the tuning is to increase the throughput while at the same time reducing the memory requirements in order to allow...

Low-Cost Surrogate Models for Microwave Filters
PublikacjaA novel low-cost kriging-based multivariable parametric macromodeling technique for microwave filters is presented. Kriging is used to model both the residues and poles of a microwave filter's reflection coefficient, and the zeros of the transmission coefficient. The proposed residue-pole-zero (RPZ) technique is demonstrated to efficiently model a high dimensional (8D) microwave filter with pseudoelliptic characteristics.

The Use of USV to Develop Navigational and Bathymetric Charts of Yacht Ports on the Example of National Sailing Centre in Gdańsk
PublikacjaApart from extensive infrastructure protection, modern yacht ports should primarily provide vessels with navigational safety associated with their maneuvering on the approach fairway, as well as mooring in the port aquatory. For this reason, yachts entering the harbor should have up-to-date, accurate, and reliable charts of the port and its surroundings. This article presents hydrographic surveys conducted in the National Sailing...

A Goal-Oriented Error Estimator for Reduced Basis Method Modeling of Microwave Devices
PublikacjaThis letter proposes a novel a-posteriori error estimator suitable for the reduced order modeling of microwave circuits. Unlike the existing error estimators based on impedance function residuals, the new one exploits the residual error associated with the computation of the scattering matrix. The estimator can be effectively used in the Reduced Basis Method (RBM) to automatically generate reduced-order models. The results of numerical...

Design considerations for compact microstrip resonant cells dedicated to efficient branch-line miniaturization
PublikacjaA conventional compact microstrip resonant cell (CMRC)has been thoroughly investigated to enhance its slow-wave properties and subsequently ensure an efficient miniaturization of a microstrip circuit. The geometry of a classic CMRC has been improved in terms of slowwave effect in two progressive steps: (i) a single-element topology has been replaced with a double-element one and (ii) a high-impedance section has been refined by...

Zero-pole approach to computer aided design of in-line siw filters with transmission zeros
PublikacjaThis paper presents a design of a new type of in-line pseudo-elliptic filters implemented in substrate integrated waveguide(SIW) technology. To realize transmission zeros in in-line topology,frequency-dependent couplings were used. Such dispersive couplingswere implemented as shorted stubs. The design process startswith the generation of a suitable starting point. To this end, anapproximation of SIW as a rectangular waveguide is...

Global Complex Roots and Poles Finding Algorithm Based on Phase Analysis for Propagation and Radiation Problems
PublikacjaA flexible and effective algorithm for complex roots and poles finding is presented. A wide class of analytic functions can be analyzed, and any arbitrarily shaped search region can be considered. The method is very simple and intuitive. It is based on sampling a function at the nodes of a regular mesh, and on the analysis of the function phase. As a result, a set of candidate regions is created and then the roots/poles are verified...

Step on It Bringing Fullwave Finite-Element Microwave Filter Design up to Speed
PublikacjaThere are many steps in the design of a microwave filter: mathematically describing the filter characteristics, representing the circuit as a network of lumped elements or as a coupling matrix, implementing the distributed elements, finding the initial dimensions of the physical structure, and carrying out numerical tuning using electromagnetic (EM) simulators. The whole process is painstaking and time-consuming, and it requires...

Simple 60 GHz Switched Beam Antenna for 5G Millimeter-Wave Applications
PublikacjaA new 60 GHz band single-input switched beam antenna is proposed for the fifth-generation (5G) millimeter-wave network applications. The presented design is capable of electronically switching the main beam in two different directions via a proposed microstrip-line-to-slotline single-pole dual-throw (SPDT) switch based on commercially available p-i-n diodes. The antenna is fabricated in a low-cost printed circuit board process...

RSS-Based DoA Estimation for ESPAR Antennas Using Support Vector Machine
PublikacjaIn this letter, it is shown how direction-of-arrival (DoA) estimation for electronically steerable parasitic array radiator (ESPAR) antennas, which are designed to be integrated within wireless sensor network nodes, can be improved by applying support vector classification approach to received signal strength (RSS) values recorded at an antenna's output port. The proposed method relies on ESPAR antenna's radiation patterns measured...

A compact seven-section rat-race hybrid coupler incorporating pbg cells
PublikacjaA conventional rat-race coupler has been doubly miniaturized: (i) characteristic impedances and electrical lengths of microstrip sections have been adequately modified as the first step of size reduction and (ii) T-shaped PBG cells have been implemented to diminish strip section length as the second step of circuit rat-race couplerminiaturization. The experimental results show good agreement with theoretical characteristics. Furthermore,...

A Compact Basis for Reliable Fast Frequency Sweep via the Reduced-Basis Method
PublikacjaA reliable reduced-order model (ROM) for fast frequency sweep in time-harmonic Maxwell’s equations by means of the reduced-basis method is detailed. Taking frequency as a parameter, the electromagnetic field in microwave circuits does not arbitrarily vary as frequency changes, but evolves on a very low-dimensional manifold. Approximating this low-dimensional manifold by a low dimension subspace, namely, reduced-basis space, gives...

Expedited design of microstrip antenna subarrays using surrogate-based optimization
PublikacjaComputationally efficient simulation-driven design of microstrip antenna subarrays is presented. The proposed design approach aims at simultaneous adjustment of all relevant geometry parameters of the subarray, which allows us to take into account the effect of the feeding network on the subarray radiation pattern (in particular, the side lobe level, SLL). In order to handle a large number of variables involved in the design process,...

Greedy Multipoint Model-Order Reduction Technique for Fast Computation of Scattering Parameters of Electromagnetic Systems

To this end, two questions are addressed. Firstly, the cost of the wideband reduced model generation is optimized by automating a...

The...
