Fuzzy regresion approach to road safety analysis at regional level
PublicationRoad safety modelling on regional level of NUTS 2 in the EU is the complex issue and authors of this article indicate this in previous publications. NUTS 2 are basic regions for the application of regional policies (0.8-3 m inhabitants). During multivariate models development they discovered that it is difficult to make regression model well described all regions, even if they are from one country. In the first step Poisson model...

MODEL OF MULTILEVEL STOCHASTIC ANALYSIS OF ROAD SAFETY ON REGIONAL LEVEL
PublicationIn this paper multilevel approach to the issue of road safety level on the road network of European regions, classified as NUTS 2 in statistical databases of the European Union, has been presented. Following the pattern of many publications on road safety it has been assumed that the risk calculated as the number of death casualties in road accidents per 100,000 inhabitants of a given region has Poisson distribution. Therefore,...

Analysis of thoracic regional impedance changes using PCA approach
PublicationA multichannel impedance and one lead electrocardiographic recording system has been developed. The impedance measurement unit is built using a four-electrode technique. It consists of a sinusoidal, 40 kHz, current source and five measurement channels. Circumferential current electrodes have been located at a neck and an abdomen. Voltagemeasurement disk electrodes formed five two-electrode measurement ports. The impedance change...

Concentration in ICTs sector - cross country analysis
PublicationIn the chapter below, the author present inequalities in sector of new information and communication technologies. Having in mind inequalities we can also discuss concentration issues, and the concentration itself is a problem to which the author refers on first place. The paper is organized as following: first basic measures of concentration are defined, after we can read a discussion referring to concentration in ICTs sector...

The effects of selected factors on regional road fatalities – analysis of the Łódź region
PublicationAnalysis of regional accident records shows that a country’s national road safety programme does not have the same effect in each of its regions. What may be a serious problem in one region may be of marginal significance in another. Polish and international experience shows that main risk groups and types of accidents related to the level of development and quality of the road network differ from region to region. The conclusion...

Times Series Analysis Of Road Safety Trends At The Regional Level In Poland
PublicationThe paper presents possibility of applying a structural times series modeling with explanatory and intervention variables as a tool capable for explaining the changes in the monthly number of fatalities and seriously injured in traffic accidents. The analysis covers regional level and takes into consideration traffic accidents data of two regions: Pomorskie and Warmia-Mazury. In addition short-term forecasts for the two regions...

Safety Assessment of the Regional Warmia and Mazury Road Network Using Time-Series Analysis
PublicationWarmia and Mazury still belongs to the areas with the smallest transport accessibility in Europe. Unsatisfactory state of road infrastructure is a major barrier to the development of the regional economy, impacting negatively on the life conditions of the population. Also in terms of road safety Warmia and Mazury is one of the most endangered regions in Poland. The Police statistics show that beside a high pedestrian risk observed...

Thermal and dynamic mechanical analysis of cross-linked poly(esterurethanes)
PublicationW pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań termograwimetrycznych oraz termomechanicznych usieciowanch za pomocą styrenu i metakrylanu metylu poli(estrouretanów). Uzyskane wyniki pozwoliły stwierdzić, że stabilność termiczna poli(estrouretanów) jest wystarczająca do wielu zastosowań technicznych. Przeprowadzone analizy wykazały również, iż polimery sieciowane styrenem wykazują separację fazową.

Global value chains and productivity gains: a cross-country analysis
PublicationThe main aim of this article is to assess the implications of involvement in global value chains (GVC) on sectoral productivity growth from the international perspective. Our panel data analysis covers 40 countries, 20 industries (13 manufacturing and 7 services sectors) in the period 1995–2011. Estimation results suggest that there is a positive link between TFP growth and the involvement of sectors in global value chains (measured...

Semiempirical analysis of electron scattering cross sections in N2O and CO2.
PublicationPorównano współczynniki transportu wyznaczone doświadczalnie w eksperymentach rojowych z wyznaczonymi teoretycznie z rozwiązania równania Boltzmana dla N2O i CO2. Badano wpływ przekrojów czynnych na wzbudzenia wibracyjne w tych gazach, w zakresie niskich energii na zgodność tych współczynników transportu.

The impact of domestic and foreign competition on sectoral growth: a cross-country analysis
PublicationThis paper examines the impact of competition on the total factor productivity (TFP) of 21 manufacturing sectors in eighteen OECD countries over the period of time 1990–2006. We assume that the source of TFP growth can be either domestic or foreign innovation or technology transfer from the technological frontier. Trade openness, R&D, and human capital can have two effects: a direct effect on TFP (e.g., through innovation) and...

The mechanisms of technological innovation in SMEs: a Bayesian Network Analysis of EU regional policy impact on Polish firms.
PublicationWe study the underlying mechanisms of technological innovation in SMEs in the context of ex-post evaluation of European Union’s regional policy. Our aim is to explain the observed change in firms’ innovativeness after receiving EU support for technological investment. To do so, we take an approach that is novel in innovation studies: a Bayesian Network Analysis to assess the effectiveness of EU policy instrument for technological...

A Cross-Polarisation Discrimination Analysis of Off-Body Channels in Passenger Ferryboat Environments
PublicationThere is a need for investigating radio channels for Body Area Networks considering the depolarisation phenomenon and new types of environments, since these aspects are becoming very important for systems design and deployment. This paper presents an analysis of cross-polarisation discrimination for off-body channels based on a measurement campaign performed in a passenger ferryboat, i.e., where all walls, floors and ceilings are...

The Analysis of Cross-Polarisation Discrimination for Body Area Networks in Cylindrical Metallic Environment
PublicationThe analysis of cross-polarisation discrimination for Body Area Networks in an untypical environment of cylindrical metallic room has been performed in the paper. This analysis was done based on the measurements carried out for dynamic narrowband off-body channels operating at the frequency of 2.45 GHz. The results have shown that there is a strong dependence of the depolarisation effect on the existence of direct component in...
