  • Hybrid System for a Person Tracking in Harsh Indoor Environments

In the article, the prototype of a system for a person tracking in a harsh indoor environment, especially when no other commercially available radiolocalization system can be used, was briefly described. The prototype realizes the data fusion, i.e. combines data from inertial and environmental sensors and radio distance measurements to estimate the position of a moving person. It is worth noting that the concept and practical realization...

  • Person Tracking in a Ferry Environment Using Ultra-Wide Band Radio Interface

    Publication

This article presents research and analysis of effectiveness of tracking moving people in an environment of passenger ferry, using measurements of propagation time of ultra-wide band radio signal (UWB - Ultra-Wide Band). Constructed measurement stand and results of measurements carried out in a real propagation conditions were shortly discussed.

  • Person Tracking in Ultra-Wide Band Hybrid Localization System Using Reduced Number of Reference Nodes

In this article a novel method of positional data integration in an indoor hybrid localization system combining inertial navigation with radio distance measurements is presented. A point of interest is the situation when the positional data and the radio distance measurements are obtained from less than thee reference nodes and it is impossible to unambiguously localize the moving person due to undetermined set of positional equations....

  • Deep Features Class Activation Map for Thermal Face Detection and Tracking

    Publication

    - Year 2017

Recently, capabilities of many computer vision tasks have significantly improved due to advances in Convolutional Neural Networks. In our research, we demonstrate that it can be also used for face detection from low resolution thermal images, acquired with a portable camera. The physical size of the camera used in our research allows for embedding it in a wearable device or indoor remote monitoring solution for elderly and disabled...

  • Long Distance Vital Signs Monitoring with Person Identification for Smart Home Solutions

    Publication

    - Year 2018

Abstract— Imaging photoplethysmography has already been proved to be successful in short distance (below 1m). However, most of the real-life use cases of measuring vital signs require the system to work at longer distances, to be both more reliable and convenient for the user. The possible scenarios that system designers must have in mind include monitoring of the vital signs of residents in nursing homes, disabled people, who...

  • Simple gait parameterization and 3D animation for anonymous visual monitoring based on augmented reality

    Publication

The article presents a method for video anonymization and replacing real human silhouettes with virtual 3D figures rendered on a screen. Video stream is processed to detect and to track objects, whereas anonymization stage employs animating avatars accordingly to behavior of detected persons. Location, movement speed, direction, and person height are taken into account during animation and rendering phases. This approach requires...

  • Augmented Reality for Privacy-Sensitive Visual Monitoring

    Publication

    - Year 2014

The paper presents a method for video anonymization and replacing real human silhouettes with virtual 3D figures rendered on the screen. Video stream is processed to detect and to track objects, whereas anonymization stage employs fast blurring method. Substitute 3D figures are animated accordingly to behavior of detected persons. Their location, movement speed, direction, and person height are taken into account during the animation...

  • Applications of Immersive 3D Visualization Lab

    Publication

The paper presents Immersive 3D Visualization Lab (at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics at Gdańsk University of Technology in Poland) and its applications prepared after its launch in December 2014. The main device of the lab is a virtual reality cubic cave with six screen-walls, where a person can navigate in virtual space using different controllers. The most sophisticated controller is a freely rotating...

  • Visual Attention Distribution Based Assessment of User's Skill in Electronic Medical Record Navigation

    Publication

Currently, the most precise way of reflecting the skills level is an expert’s subjective assessment. In this paper we investigate the possibility of the use of eye tracking data for scalar quantitative and objective assessment of medical staff competency in EMR system navigation. According to the experiment conducted by Yarbus the observation process of particular features is associated with thinking. Moreover, eye tracking is...
