Incorporation of nitrogen in diamond films - A new way of tuning parameters for optical passive elements
PublicationThis paper investigates the impact of nitrogen incorporation in diamond films for the construction of an interferometric sensor to measure displacement. Diamond films with different nitrogen levels (0–5%) were deposited on silicon substrates by microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition. The structural characteristics of these samples are characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy...

A Reaction of Thioamides with Zinc Ammoniates Leading to Simple Amidines. Discovery of a New Zwitterionic Monomethylamidine
PublicationThe reaction of thioamides with the R1R2N-ZnCl ammoniates leads to N-mono-, N,N'-di-, N,N-disubstituted, and unsubstituted amidines with high concns. of amines in abs. ethanol. The efficient direct formation of the N,N'-dimethylamidine can be explained by a greater reactivity of methylamine compared with dimethylamine. Discovery of a new zwitterion (induced by a carbonyl oxygen) suggests that the stabilization in the thymine...

Forced degradation studies of ivabradine and in silico toxicology predictions for its new designated impurities
PublicationAll activities should aim to eliminate genotoxic impurities and/or protect the API againstdegradation. There is a necessity to monitor impurities from all classification groups, hence ivabradine forced degradation studies were performed. Ivabradine was provedto be quite durable active substance, but still new and with insufficient stability data.Increased temperature, acid, base, oxidation reagents and...

Exploration of optical fibres as a carrier for new benzene and toluene matrix-free reference materials
PublicationTo meet high expectations concerning precision and accuracy of reference materials, preparation of matrixfree reference materials using thermal decomposition-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (TD-GC-MS) was proposed in this study. In the paper, the results obtained in preparation of the new reference materials for benzene and toluene are presented, based on the thermal decomposition technique of compounds chemically bound to...

Synthesis of functionalized new conjugates of batracylin with tuftsin/ retro-tuftsin derivatives and their biological evaluation
PublicationNew batracylin conjugates with tuftsin/retro-tuftsin derivatives were designed and synthesized using T3P as a coupling agent. The conjugates possess an amide bond formed between the carboxyl group of heterocyclic molecule and the N-termini of the tuftsin/retro-tuftsin chain. The in vitro cytotoxic activity of the new analogues and their precursors was evaluated using a series of human and murine tumor cells. BAT conjugates containing...

Performance comparison of new modified gradient algorithm and Foy algorithm for iterative position calculation
PublicationIn the paper a new position calculation algorithm is presented. It is proposed for indoor environments and is called modified gradient algorithm. This algorithm is compared with well-known Foy algorithm. The comparative analysis is based on real distance measurements conducted in indoor environment.

Shaping New Generations of Managers and Consumers: CSR Implementation and Higher Education System in Poland
PublicationConsidering the Corporate Social Responsibility as a significant research and education topic for university staff, students, graduates and the whole society, has become a sign of our times. Universities and other education institutions, including the third sector, play an important role, incorporating CSR as a crosscutting issue, in particular into the curricula of future managers and graduate students, no matter the country we...

Lean Startup as a New Way of Managing Technology Ventures Illustrated by the Example of Wlcome App
PublicationThe dot-com bubble in the 1990s made the technology industry aware that even excellent ideas backed by amazing teams are not sufficient to ensure a startup’s success. The biggest risk of startups is that they have to operate within many uncertainties, their market and customers are unknown, and their business model is not yet validated. Therefore, successful execution of such a venture requires a rigorous process that would validate...

Response of a New Low-Coherence Fabry-Perot Sensor to Hematocrit Levels in Human Blood
PublicationIn this paper, a low-coherence Fabry-Perot sensor with a spectrally measured signal processing response to the refractive index of liquids is presented. Optical fiber sensors are potentially capable of continuous measuring hematocrit levels in blood. Low-coherence Fabry-Perot interferometric sensors offer a robust solution, where information about the measurand is encoded in the full spectrum of light reflected from the sensing...

New bis(azobenzocrown)s with dodecylmethylmalonyl linkers as ionophores for sodium selective potentiometric sensors
PublicationNovel biscrowns 1 and 2 were synthesized from 13-membered azobenzocrown ethers containing bromoalkylenoxy chains in para position relative to the azo group. The synthesized diester molecules are dodecylmethylmalonic acid derivatives differing by the linker length. The synthesized compounds have the potential of being used as sodium ionophores in ion-selective electrodes. They were characterized and used as ionophores in classic...

Relationship between wages, labour productivity and unemployment rate in new EU member countries
PublicationThe main aim of this article is to find out the extent to which relative labour productivity and relative unemployment rate changes determine relative wage changes. We use average annual macro-data for the period 2002-2013 for Poland and other 5 new EU members: Estonia, Hungary, Slovak, Czech Republic and Slovenia. Using Poland as benchmark, rst we examine the correlation between wage, productivity and unemployment rate changes...

New conjugates of tuftsin and muramyl dipeptide as stimulators of human monocytes-derived dendritic cells
PublicationMuramyl dipeptide (MDP) and tuftsin are known biologically active compound displaying a significant influence on various cell populations of innate immune response. MDP, as a fragment of bacterial cell wall, stimulates not only macrophages and monocytes, but also dendritic cells. In contrast, little is known about tuftsin influence on these cells. Therefore it seemed vital to access whether tuftsin or its derivatives conjugated...

Trade differentiation and the characteristics of new imported and exported products - international panel data analysis
PublicationDrawing on o large panel of international economies we have shown how the set of imported and exported products evolves in economic growth process. Strong activity at the extensive margin, manifested through the rise in the number of active export and import lines, is typical for early stages of development. Trade diversification tendency, typical for a predominant mass of observations in our panel, is associated with changes in...

Shaping the new planning curricula in the post-socialistic context lessons from Poland and Russia
PublicationPlanning education is the issue widely discussed during various conferences and seminars, especially ones grouping the representatives of universities offering professional education in this field. But to large extend this discourse is dominated by the realities and specifics of the highly- developed countries, which is also reflected in the structure of the organizations of universities offering these. At the same time planning...

New approaches to cutting resistance estimation of wood cutting process with circular-saw blades
PublicationTheoretical and experimental determination of values of cutting resistance belongs to the basic and simultaneously the most developed field of mechanics of this process. Energetic effects of wood sawing process are mainly calculated on the basis of the specific cutting resistance which, in wood cutting, is a function on a lot of factors. In this paper new method for calculation of cutting resistance is described. The latter method...

Studies on applicability of new solid-phase microextraction and determination of short - chain monocarboxylic acids
PublicationA convenient approach to monitor the short-chain monocaroboksylic acids (SCAMs) in different samples is gas chromatography (GC) preceded by sample preparation based on solid-phase microextraction (SPME). The fiber with polar coatings were used to extract the SCAMs from headspace of liquid and solid samples. Recently polimeric ionic liquid (PIL) fiber coatings have been proposed to extract volatile organic compounds, minly polar...
