THE ROLE OF INFERENCE IN MOBILE MEDICAL APPLICATION DESIGN
PublicationIn the early 21st century, artificial intelligence began to be used to process medical information. However, before this happened, predictive models used in healthcare could only consider a limited number of variables, and only in properly structured and organised medical data. Today, advanced tools based on machine learning techniques - which, using artificial neural networks, can explore extremely complex relationships - and...

Succinite, Baltic Amber: A Chemical Masterpiece of Nature
PublicationSuccinite, Baltic amber, is one of the most appreciated fossil resins. Its beauty has fascinated people since prehistoric times. It is a substance, and also gemstone, whose uniqueness is due to its compelling, though still not fully understood, physicochemical nature. In this article, some facts about the physical and chemical properties of succinite in order to find an answer for questions about the unique properties of this resin,...

Accelerated solvent extraction-gas chromatographic determination of acidic herbicides in soil
Anality przenoszono z ekstraktu wodnego do rozpuszczalnika...

Studies on removal of hydrophobic organics from contaminated soil by washing process
Oba surfaktanty były relatywnie efektywne w usuwaniu dodekanu. Ze wzrostem stężenia surfaktantu obserwowano wzrost efektywności wymywania dodekanu, jednakże Rokanol NL6...

Enzymatic degradation and transport of endothiopeptides into Escherichia coli K12 mutant strains

Chapter 18. Emulsifying properties of nonionic surfactants in the context of soil remediation
PublicationPowstające podczas remediacji gruntów emulsje są niekorzystne, gdyż mogą prowadzić do zatykania porów i unieruchomienia strumienia cieczy przemywającej. Czyni to proces przemywania nieefektywnym. Zbadano stabilność emulsji trzech olejów mineralnych i jednego syntetycznego (PAO 6). W badaniach wykorzystano aparat Turbiscan TLab Expert. Stabilność emulsji określono jako zależność delty transmisji od czasu. Spośród przebadanych emulsji...

Checkpoints that regulate balanced biosynthesis of lipopolysaccharide and its essentiality in Escherichia coli
PublicationThe outer membrane (OM) of Gram-negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, is essential for their viability. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) constitutes the major component of OM, providing the permeability barrier, and a tight balance exists between LPS and phospholipids amounts as both of these essential components use a common metabolic precursor. Hence, checkpoints are in place, right from the regulation of the first committed step...

A systematic review on cellular responses of Escherichia coli to nonthermal electromagnetic irradiation
PublicationInvestigation of Escherichia coli under electromagnetic fields is of significance in human studies owing to its short doubling time and human‐like DNA mechanisms. The present review aims to systematically evaluate the literature to conclude causality between 0 and 300 GHz electromagnetic fields and biological effects in E. coli. To that end, the OHAT methodology and risk of bias tool were employed. Exponentially growing cells exposed...

Five buildings with 4-storeys, 6-storeys, and 7-storeys were considered. Three types of the 4-storey building with different total heights were taken into account which leads to floor-to-column pounding at 1/3, 1/2 and 2/3 of the height of the impacted column. Two pounding scenarios were considered,...
