Photoelectron spectroscopy of brominated derivative of pyrimidine: 2-bromopyrimidine
PublicationIn this study the brominated derivative of pyrimidine, 2-bromopyrimidine, was investigated by photoelectron spectroscopy. Outer valence photoelectron spectra recorded at 21.22, 45 and 100 eV photon energy for this compound are presented. The recorded spectra have a higher resolution than that previously reported in the literature. The bromine 3d and 3p edge photoelectron spectra have also been recorded in a photon impact experiment...

Thermal imaging in automatic rodent’s social behaviour analysis
PublicationLaboratory rodent social behaviour analysis is an extremely important task for biological, medical and pharmacological researches. In this work thermal images features that facilitate analysis are presented. Methods to distinguish objects on the basis of thermal distribution are tested. Actions of grooming or biting one rodent by another - important social behaviour incidents - are clearly visible...

A study of the electronic states of pyrimidine by electron energy loss spectroscopy
PublicationThe electron energy loss spectra were measured in pyrimidine at the constant electron residual energy varied from 15 meV to 10 eV and in the scattering angle range 0–180°. The spectra were analysed applying an iteration fitting procedure to resolve the energy loss bands corresponding to excitation of the electronic states of pyrimidine. The vertical excitation energies of the singlet states of pyrimidine and of a number of the...

Parametric study of fluid flow and heat transfer over louvered fins of air heat pump evaporator
PublicationTwo-dimensional numerical investigations of the fluid flow and heat transfer have been carried out for the laminar flow of the louvered fin-plate heat exchanger, designed to work as an air-source heat pump evap- orator. The transferred heat and the pressure drop predicted by simulation have been compared with the corresponding experimental data taken from the literature. Two dimensional analyses of the louvered fins with varying...

Aerodynamic Shape Optimization for Delaying Dynamic Stall of Airfoils by Regression Kriging
PublicationThe phenomenon of dynamic stall produce adverse aerodynamic loading which can adversely affect the structural strength and life of aerodynamic systems. Aerodynamic shape optimization (ASO) provides an effective approach for delaying and mitigating dynamic stall characteristics without the addition of auxiliary system. ASO, however, requires multiple evaluations time-consuming computational fluid dynamics models. Metamodel-based...

Geometric working volume of a satellite positive displacement machine
PublicationThis article describes a method for determining the geometric working volume of satellite positive displacement machines (pump and motor). The working mechanism of these machines is satellite mechanism consisting of two non-circular gears (rotor and curvature) and circular gears (satellites). Two variants of the satellite mechanism are presented. In the first mechanism, the rolling line of the rotor is a sinusoid "wrapped" around...

Experimental determination of H2 mass stopping powers for low-energy electrons
PublicationWe present experimental mass stopping powers of electrons in gaseous H2 obtained with an electron time- of-flight spectrometer, for the incident electron energy range of 11 to 25 eV. In our procedure, the average energy loss is derived from conversion of the measured electron time-of-flight spectra into equivalent electron energy-loss spectra. Our present results are compared with the only available experimental measurement and...

Formation of gold anostructures detected by SEM microscope
Open Research DataGold nanostructures were prepared on silicon - Si(111) as a substrate. The substrates (1 × 1 cm2 of area) were cleaned with acetylacetone and then rinsed in ethanol. Thin Au films (with thicknesses in a range of 1.7–5.0 nm) were deposited using a table-top dc magnetron sputtering coater (EM SCD 500, Leica) under pure Ar plasma conditions (Argon, Air...

First report on echinocandin resistant Polish Candida isolates
PublicationPurpose: Candida spp. are ranked as one of the four major causative agents of fungal infections. The number of infections caused by Candida species resistant to fluconazole, which is applied as the first line drug in candidiasis treatment, increases every year. In such cases the application of echinocandin is necessary. Echinocandin susceptibility testing has become a routine laboratory practice in many countries due to the increasing...
