Unusual behavior of secondary amine group as a leaving group
PublicationIn our recent project we focused on reactivity of2,2-dimethyl-4,6-dioxane-1,3-dione carbamoilo- and thiocarbamoylo- derivatives as a ketenesource. Meldrum`s acid derivatives after thermal decomposition gives substituted keteneswith stoichiometric yield, that can be trapped with various spectrum of nucleophiles likealcohols, thiols, amine, imines etc. In case of5-[3-(dimethylamino)-sulfanyl-propyliden]-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione...

Comparison of hydrogen bonds and diverse weak interactions of the nitro group in 2-methyl-4-nitroanilinium nitrate, bisulfate and two hexafluoridosilicates: elementary graph-set approach
PublicationCrystal structures of (H2m4na)NO3 (1), (H2m4na)HSO4 (2), (H2m4na)2SiF6 (3) and (H2m4na)2SiF6*2H2O (4), where 2m4na = 2-methyl-4-nitroaniline, are presented. Two layers of interactions occur in the structures, N—H...O/F hydrogen bonds and interactions with the nitro group. Although diverse, hydrogen-bonding patterns are compared with each other by means of interrelations among elementary graph-set descriptors and descriptors of hydrogen-bonding...

Distortion in the group of circle homeomorphisms
PublicationLet G be the group PAff+(R/Z) of piecewise affine circle homeomorphisms or the group Diff∞(R/Z) of smooth circle diffeomorphisms. A constructive proof that all irrational rotations are distorted in G is given.

The Factors Affecting Group Identity of Cluster Structures
PublicationThe paper provides a new approach to cluster analysis, basing on a sociologically rooted concept of identity. The authors state that identity in cluster structures is formed by two main groups of factors – uncontrollable or slightly controllable factors (identity mix) and factors that can be fully controlled by a cluster initiative (corporate identity mix). It means that the cluster coordinator is able to consciously build the...

Multiple Group Membership and Collective Action Intention
PublicationDatasets from two studies conducted in Poland on the relation between identity fusion, group identification, multiple group membership, perceived injustice, and collective action intention. The presented studies, in the context of protests against attempts to restrict abortion law, were conducted to examine the link between belonging to multiple groups, group efficacy & identification, perceived injustice and collective...

Platinum group elements: a challenge for environmental analytics
PublicationW pracy opisano problemy związane z analityką platynowców (Platinum Group Elements - PGE) w próbkach środowiskowych (kurz uliczny, materia zawieszona, gleba i osady denne, wody, ścieki, próbki biologiczne). Scharakteryzowano poszczególne etapy procedury analitycznej mogące być źródłem błędów oraz powodować szereg trudności. Opisano sposoby pobierania, przechowywania i utrwalania próbek przeznaczonych do badań. Przedstawiono również...

Alkanethiolates of Group 1,2, and 13-15 Metals
PublicationThis manuscript is an update to the earlier Science of Synthesis contribution describing methods for the synthesis of alkanethiolates of group 1, 2, and 13-15 metals. Alkanethiolates can be converted into S-alkyl thiocarboxylic acid esters, 1-thioglycosides, S-alkyl thiosulfinates, tetrahydro-1,4-thiazine-3-ones, sulfides, disulfides, sulfonium salts, dithioacetals and dithioketals, etc. These transformations are accomplished by...

Load-settlement characteristics of piles working in a group
PublicationLoad-settlement characteristic (Q-s) of an axially loaded pile can be empirically determined from a static pile load test or on the basis of calculations using, e.g. transfer functions or numerical methods (FEM). The transfer functions method usually rely on empirical data, i.e. the function parameters are determined on the basis of numerous pile test results. Thus this method takes into account pile installation technology and...

Azo group(s) in selected macrocyclic compounds
PublicationAzobenzene derivatives due to their photo- and electroactive properties are an important group of compounds finding applications in diverse fields. Due to the possibility of controlling the trans–cis isomerization, azo-bearing structures are ideal building blocks for development of e.g. nanomaterials, smart polymers, molecular containers, photoswitches, and sensors. Important role play also macrocyclic compounds well known for...

Environmental Fate of Traffic-Derived Platinum Group Metals

Degree product formula in the case of a finite group action
PublicationLet V, W be finite dimensional orthogonal representations of a finite group G. The equivariant degree with values in the Burnside ring of G has been studied extensively by many authors. We present a short proof of the degree product formula for local equivariant maps on V and W.

Group 11 complexes with a phosphanylphosphaalkene ligand: preparation and stability study
PublicationThe reactivities of two selected phosphanylphosphaalkenes, Ph2C=P-PtBu2 (1a) and (p-MeO-Ph)2C=P-PtBu2 (1b), toward CuCl, AgCl and (tht)AuCl (tht = tetrahydrothiophene) were investigated. As a result, new phosphanylphosphaalkene dimeric and monomeric complexes were formed (Cu and Ag dimeric and Au monomeric). All obtained products were air and moisture stable and light insensitive.

GROUP COMPOSER - System for Modeling Agents’ Team Building for Tasks
PublicationMulti-agent systems consist of many autonomous units, called agents, that can interact when trying to achieve their goals. The selection of interaction partners is called team formation. Three basic approaches can be considered to match multi-agent system resources to the problem at hand. To research the properties of different approaches, a software for modeling team formation in multi-agent systems has been created and is presented...

On the material symmetry group for micromorphic media with applications to granular materials
PublicationWithin the framework of the theory of nonlinear elastic micromorphic continua we introduce the new definition of the local material symmetry group. The group consists of ordered triples of second- and third-order tensors describing such changes of a reference placement that cannot be recognized with any experiment. Using the definition we characterize the micromorphic isotropic media, micromorphic fluids, solids and special intermediate...

IS THE REGIONAL DIVERGENCE A PRICE FOR THE INTERNATIONAL CONVERGENCE? THE CASE OF THE VISEGRAD GROUP
PublicationThe main goal of this article is to verify whether the Visegrad Group countries are achieving social convergence at national level at the expense of internal divergence. For this purpose, the existence of social beta-, sigma- and gamma-convergence at national and regional level was tested. The author of this article decided to tackle the convergence problem since there is a high risk that countries are trying to catch up at...

On Dynamic Extension of a Local Material Symmetry Group for Micropolar Media
PublicationFor micropolar media we present a new definition of the local material symmetry group considering invariant properties of the both kinetic energy and strain energy density under changes of a reference placement. Unlike simple (Cauchy) materials, micropolar media can be characterized through two kinematically independent fields, that are translation vector and orthogonal microrotation tensor. In other words, in micropolar continua...
