Evaluation of strength, deformability and failure mode of composite structural insulated panels

Finite element study of patterns of shear zones in granular bodies during plane strain compression
PublicationW artykule przedstawiono obliczenia efektów skali na nośność fundamentu na piasku. Obliczenia wykonano przy pomocy mikropolarnego prawa hipoplastycznego. W obliczeniach wykorzystano stochastyczne rozkłady początkowego wskaźnika porowatości według rozkładu Gaussa.

Concrete Compressive Strength Under Changing Environmental Conditions During Placement Processes
PublicationThe technological process of concrete production consists of several parts, including concrete mix design, concrete mix production, transportation of fresh concrete mix to a construction site, placement in concrete framework, and curing. Proper execution of these steps provides good quality concrete. Some factors can disturb the technological process, mainly temperature and excessive precipitation. Changing daily temperature and...

Chemical and Mechanical Properties of 70-Year-Old Concrete
PublicationThe aim of this research is to determine the durability and strength of concrete continuous footing based on the chosen mechanical, physical, and chemical properties of the concrete. The presented investigations constitute some opinions from experts on the bearing capacity of concrete continuous footing and the possibilities of carrying additional loads and extended working life. The cylindrical specimens were taken from continuous...

Chemical, Physical, and Mechanical Properties of 95-Year-Old Concrete Built-In Arch Bridge
PublicationThis research aimed to determine the durability and strength of an old concrete built-in arch bridge based on selected mechanical, physical, and chemical properties of the concrete. The bridge was erected in 1925 and is located in Jagodnik (northern Poland). Cylindrical specimens were taken from the side ribs connected to the top plate using a concrete core borehole diamond drill machine. The properties of the old concrete were...

Properties of Old Concrete Built in the Former Leipziger Palace
PublicationThis research aims to determine the mechanical, chemical, and physical properties of old concrete used in the former Leipziger Palace in Wrocław, Poland. The cylindrical specimens were taken from the basement concrete walls using a concrete core borehole diamond drill machine. The determination of the durability and strength of old concrete was based on specified chosen properties of the old concrete obtained through the following...

Thermodynamically consistent nonlocal theory of ductile damage
PublicationPrzedstawiono termodynamicznie zgodną, słabo-nielokalną teorię zniszczenia plastycznego. Wykorzystano klasyczne dynamiczne zasady zachowania pędu i momentu pędu w przestrzeni fizycznej i materialnej.

A 95-Year-Old Concrete Arch Bridge: From Materials Characterization to Structural Analysis
PublicationThe structural analysis of a 95-year-old concrete arch bridge located in Jagodnik (Poland) is performed in this paper, in order to check its behavior under today’s traffic loads. The mechanical properties of both the concrete and the reinforcement are investigated by testing cores and bar stubs extracted from the bridge. Structural analysis confirms that the bridge meets today’s load requirements in terms of bearing capacity, serviceability...

Influence of the Shear Cap Size and Stiffness on the Distribution of Shear Forces in Flat Slabs
PublicationThe scope of this paper is to investigate analytically and numerically the influence of shear cap size and stiffness on the distribution of shear forces in flat slabs in a slab–column-connections-reinforced concrete structure. The effect of support (shear cap) stiffness on the calculation of the length of the shear control perimeter according to the available methods is presented. Based on the analysis, the authors indicate in...

Shear Cap Size Selection Method Based on Parametric Analysis of ACI-318 Code and Eurocode 2 Standard
PublicationThe scope of the paper is to propose a method for determining the size of shear caps in a slab–column-connections-reinforced concrete structure. Usually, shear heads are used to enhance slab–column connection, especially when the transverse reinforcement does not give the required punching shear load capacity. The dimensions of the shear head should provide the punching shear resistance of the connection inside and outside the...

Mechanical Properties of Aluminium Bracket Strengthening
PublicationThe aim of the research is laboratory investigation of aluminium brackets employed to fasten lightweight curtain walls to building facilities. Tensile loads perpendicular to end plates (vertical) were applied here. The author focused on the solutions intended to increase the load-carrying capacity of aluminium brackets applying the plain washer form A (DIN 125; ISO 7089), plain washer with an outer diameter about 3d (DIN 9021;...
