Group-9 Transition-Metal Suboxides Adopting the Filled-Ti2Ni Structure: A Class of Superconductors Exhibiting Exceptionally High Upper Critical Fields
PublikacjaTi2Ni and the related η-carbide structure are known to exhibit various intriguing physical properties. The Ti2Ni structure with the cubic space group Fd3̅m is surprisingly complex, consisting of a unit cell with 96 metal atoms. The related η-carbide compounds correspond to a filled version of the Ti2Ni structure. Here, we report on the structure and superconductivity in the η-carbide-type suboxides Ti4M2O with M = Co, Rh, and Ir....

The use of Preston equation to determine material removal during lap-grinding with electroplated CBN tools
PublikacjaGrinding executed in a lapping configuration is an alternative finishing process benefiting from both grinding and free-abrasive machining, while minimizing the heat effect impact. Electroplated tools can be effectively used in different abrasive processes, including high-speed grinding, however, the assessment of machining performance over time is a key factor in their correct use to achieve satisfactory technological results....

Monometallic nanoparticles decorated and rare earth ions doped KTaO3/K2Ta2O6 photocatalysts with enhanced pollutant decomposition and improved H2 generation
PublikacjaNew, monometallic nanoparticles (MNPs) decorated surface and rare earth (RE) ions doped lattice of perovskite-type (KTaO3)/pyrochlore-type (K2Ta2O6) photocatalysts were successfully prepared by facile hydrothermal incorporation of RE ions into KTaO3/K2Ta2O6 lattices followed by photodeposition of MNPs. The impact of noble metal type (MNPs = Au, Pt, Rh) and rare earth dopant type (RE = Er, Pr) on the physicochemical properties correlated...

Halogen bonded polypseudorotaxanes based on a pillar[5]arene host
PublikacjaTwo crystalline supramolecular polypseudorotaxanes were obtained by combining permethylated pillar[5]arene as a macrocyclic wheel with 1,4-bis(1-imidazolyl)butane and 1,4-bis(iodoethynyl)benzene or 1,4-diiodo-1,3-butadiyne linked by C–I⋯N halogen bonds and creating a polyrotaxane axis. The resulting highly ordered supramolecular arrays were characterized by X-ray crystallography.

Interplay of hydrogen bonding and aryl-perfluoroaryl interactions in construction of supramolecular aggregates
PublikacjaThe stacking between aryl and perfluoroaryl units is an important class of the aromatic – aromatic interactions that has attracted rapidly growing interest in recent years. Continuing interest of our group in this subject it had been prepared three new complexes of pentafluorobenzoic acid with benzyl alcohol, 4-methylbenzyl alcohol and 4-tert-butylbenzyl alcohol and in the next step investigated their self-assembly modes by...

Probing the Magnetic Anisotropy of Co(II) Complexes Featuring Redox-Active Ligands
PublikacjaCoordination complexes that possess large magnetic anisotropy (otherwise known as zero-field splitting, ZFS) have possible applications in the field of magnetic materials, including single molecule magnets (SMMs). Previous studies have explored the role of coordination number and geometry in controlling the magnetic anisotropy and SMM behavior of high-spin (S = 3/2) Co(II) complexes. Building upon these efforts, the present work...

Impact of the anion and chalcogen on the crystal structure and properties of 4,6-dimethyl-2-pyrimido(thio)nium halides
PublikacjaBy the reaction of urea or thiourea, acetylacetone and hydrogen halide (HF, HBr or HI), we have obtained seven new 4,6-dimethyl-2-pyrimido(thio)nium salts, which were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, namely, 4,6-dimethyl-2-oxo-2,3-dihydropyrimidin-1-ium bifluoride, C₆H₉N₂O⁺·HF₂⁻ or (dmpH)F₂H, 4,6-dimethyl-2-oxo-2,3-dihydropyrimidin-1-ium bromide, C₆H₉N₂O⁺·Br⁻ or (dmpH)Br, 4,6-dimethyl-2-oxo-2,3-dihydropyrimidin-1-ium...

Nanoparticles preparation using microemulsion systems
PublikacjaMetallic nanoparticles become of current interests because they exhibit unique properties compared with those of metal atoms or bulk metal due to the quantum size effect and their large surface area, which make them attractive for applications in optics, electronics, catalysis biology and medicine. TiO2 has been used for environmental remediation purposes such as in the purification of water and air and also solar-to chemical energy...
