Influence of stress on oxidation behaviour of carbon steel studded coil.
PublikacjaAnalizowano awarię wężownicy kołkowej ze stali węglowej pracującej przez 10 lat w środowisku przegrzanej pary w temperaturze 290ºC i ciśnieniu 0,67 MPa. Obserwacje mikroskopowe powierzchni i przekroju rury ukazały drobne pęknięcia w ściance wynikające z procesu selektywnego utleniania. Zastosowano metodę elementów skończonych w celu ustalenia zależności postępu korozji od ciśnienia i obciążenia cieplnego.

Stress Relaxation Behaviour Modeling in Rigid Polyurethane (PU) Elastomeric Materials
PublikacjaPolyurethane (PU) has been used in a variety of industries during the past few years due to its exceptional qualities, including strong mechanical strength, good abrasion resistance, toughness, low-temperature flexibility, etc. More specifically, PU is easily “tailored” to satisfy particular requirements. There is a lot of potential for its use in broader applications due to this structure–property link. Ordinary polyurethane items...

Two approaches to model the behaviour of soft natural clays under principal stress axes rotation.
PublikacjaPrzedstawiono porównanie dwóch podstawowych metod modelowania konstytutywnego pozwalających na symulację odkształcenia przy obrocie składowych głównych naprężenia. Dotyczy to zastosowania wzmocnienia kinematycznego oraz modelu wielopłaszczyznowego (multi-laminate). Wyniki symulacji porównano z wynikami badań laboratoryjnym w cylindrycznym aparacie skrętnym na próbkach w kształcie wydrążonego walca.

Brain circuit imprints of developmental 17α-Ethinylestradiol exposure in guppies (Poecilia reticulata): Persistent effects on anxiety but not on reproductive behaviour
PublikacjaThe effects of endocrine disruptors may vary with the timing of exposure. The physiological implications of adult exposure are present during and shortly after exposure while embryonic exposure can imprint changes manifested in adulthood. In this study, guppy (Poecilia reticulata) embryos were exposed to 2 and 20 ng/L of 17α-ethinylestradiol during development via the mother and reared in clean water from gestation until 6 months...

Multiaxial Fatigue Behaviour of SLM 18Ni300 Steel
PublikacjaFatigue behaviour of SLM 18Ni300 steel under proportional bending-torsion loading is studied. The fatigue tests are conducted under pulsating loading conditions using tubular specimens with a transversal circular hole. Three ratios of the normal stress to shear stress are considered, namely σ/τ=4,σ/τ=2 and σ/τ = 4/3. Crack initiation sites were found for two diametrically opposite points around the hole, whose locations are governed...

Experimental observations on the creep behaviour of frozen soil
PublikacjaConstitutive models in the literature for creep of frozen soil are based on the direct use of time counted from the onset of creep. An explicit time dependence in a constitutive equation violates the principles of rational mechanics. No change in stress or temperature is allowed for during creep, using the time-based formulations. Moreover, the existing descriptions need much verification and improvement on the experimental side...

Cyclic behaviour modelling of additively manufactured Ti-6Al-4V lattice structures
PublikacjaThe present work is concerned with the numerical modelling of the cyclic behaviour of Ti-6Al-4V lattice structures. In the study, diamond structures of titanium alloy produced by the additive laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) method with different degrees of relative density were used. Realistic geometric models of the studied mesostructures were generated using computed microtomography, taking into account the imperfections of the...

Buckling and initial post-local buckling behaviour of cold-formed channel member flange
PublikacjaThe initial post-buckling behaviour of a cold-formed channel member flange after its local buckling is investigated. An axially compressed column or beam subjected to pure bending is considered. The member material is assumed to follow a linear stress-strain relationship. The governing non-linear differential equation of the problem is derived using the minimum total potential energy principle. An approximate solution for the equation...

An enhanced method in predicting tensile behaviour of corroded thick steel plate specimens by using random field approach
PublikacjaThe present work investigates the possibility of using random field techniques in modelling the mechanical behaviour of corroded thick steel plate specimens. The nonlinear Finite Element method, employing the explicit dynamic solver, is used to analyse the mechanical properties of typical specimens. A material model considering full nonlinearity is used to evaluate the stress-strain response. The influence of major governing parameters...

Influence of the notch rounding radius on estimating the elastic notch stress concentration factor in a laser welded tee joint
PublikacjaIn recent years an increased interest of industry in sandwich-type metal structures can be observed. These structures consist of thin plates of 2.5 mm in thickness separated by stiffeners of different shapes and forms. Welds joining the plates and stiffeners are made on the outer side of the plates using laser welding technique. A locally focused source of heat causes the plate to melt creating a very narrow and elongated joint....

Local buckling and initial post-buckling behaviour of channel member flange - analytical approach
PublikacjaThe local buckling and initial post-buckling behaviour of the cold-formed channel member flange is investigated. The governing nonlinear differential equation for axially compressed columns and beams undergoing pure bending is derived using the stationary total potential energy principle. The critical stress and initial post-buckling equilibrium path is determined by means of a perturbation approach. The results obtained allow...

FEM modelling of stress and strain distribution in weld joints of steel sandwich panels
PublikacjaThe development of laser welding technology has enabled the mass production of thin-walled structures, including steel sandwich panels. The technology of joining plating panels with stiffeners by welding allows us to create joints with a specific geometry and material properties. In comparison with other types of joints, laser welds are characterized by their specific behaviour under cyclic load and, as a consequence, a different...

Stress–strain model of lower corroded steel plates of normal strength for fitness-for-purpose analyses
PublikacjaThis study investigates the mechanical properties of specimens made of normal strength steel subjected to lower marine immersed corrosion degradation levels (below 25 %). The specimens were corroded in laboratory conditions, and only natural factors were controlled to raise the corrosion rate (reaching the level of 1 mm/year). Three different thicknesses of plates made of normal strength of shipbuilding steel are investigated (between...

Geometrically nonlinear FEM analysis of 6-parameter resultant shell theory based on 2-D Cosserat constitutive model
PublikacjaWe develop the elastic constitutive law for the resultant statically and kinematically exact, nonlinear, 6-parameter shell theory. The Cosserat plane stress equations are integrated through-the- thickness under assumption of the Reissner-Mindlin kinematics. The resulting constitutive equations for stress resultant and couple resultants are expressed in terms of two micropolar constants: the micropolar modulus Gc and the micropolar...

Effect of austempering temperature on microstructure and cyclic deformation behaviour of multiphase low-carbon steel
PublikacjaThis paper examined the cyclic deformation behaviour of multiphase low-carbon steel that was subjected to austempering heat treatments at four temperatures (190 °C, 230 °C, 275 °C, and 315 °C) below the martensite start temperature (Ms = 353 °C). The tests were conducted at room temperature, under fully reversed strain-controlled conditions, with strain amplitudes in the range 0.5–1.0%. The microstructure was observed by transmission...

Behaviour of deformed steel columns exposed to impact load during earthquakes: numerical analysis
PublikacjaIt has been observed during earthquakes that the so called soft-storey failure of an upper floor of a building leads to considerable vertical impact load acting on structural members of the lower storeys. The aim of this paper is to investigate numerically the behaviour of horizontally deformed columns (deformation as the result of earthquake loading) that are additionally subjected to vertical impact load. In the first stage of...
