Novel analytical approach for real-time monitoring of volatile Maillard reaction products emitted from the sugar-amino acid model system using proton transfer reaction mass spectrometry
PublicationIn the presented research, volatile Maillard reaction products formation in the two sugar-amino acid model systems, namely glucoselysine and ribose-lysine model systems were investigated using proton transfer reaction mass spectrometry. Obtained data were supported by the reference method, i.e., UV/Vis spectrometry. A number of volatile organic compounds were selected based on the correlation of the effect of Maillard reaction...

Quantitative risk assessment of new ship designs in damage conditions
PublicationThe paper is devoted to safety of ships in damage conditions. The novel contribution of the paper is connected with a new Multi-Task ship (MT-ship) design at the preliminary stage of design. There are a few problems at the preliminary stage that should be considered. One problem is connected with if the quantitative risk-based method is a reliable and formal method for safety assessment of such the new design (MT-ship) in damage...

Investigation of magnetic order in a new intermetallic compound Nd2PtGe3
PublicationIn the present study we report a successful synthesis of the new intermetallic compound Nd2PtGe3 by an arc-melting method. The powder X-ray diffraction analysis indicates that this compound crystallizes in an disordered variant of the AlB2-type structure (space group P6/mmm, no. 191) with lattice parameters a = 4.2455 Å and c = 4. 1933 Å. The compound exhibits a cluster-glass transition below Tf = 2.9 K, characterized through ac...

Eqiuitable coloring of corona products of cubic graphs is harder than ordinary coloring
PublicationA graph is equitably k-colorable if its vertices can be partitioned into k independent sets in such a way that the number of vertices in any two sets differ by at most one. The smallest k for which such a coloring exists is known as the equitable chromatic number of G. In this paper the problem of determinig the equitable coloring number for coronas of cubic graphs is studied. Although the problem of ordinary coloring of coronas...

Evaluation of the photoprotective effect of ˇ-cyclodextrin on the emission of volatile degradation products of ranitidine
PublicationThe process of the photo-excitation of ranitidine hydrochloride (RAN) in a solid state makes visible changes to its colour and generates an unpleasant odour. The purpose of the present study was to observe the protective effects of ˇ-cyclodextrin (CD) complexation as well as the effect of the mixture of two stoichiometries 1:1 and 1:2 (RAN:CD, IC) on the photostability of samples in a solid state. Sam- ples of inclusion complexes...

Assessment of cytotoxic and endocrine potential of selected xenobiotics commonly present in food products
PublicationMore and more increased intensity of anthropopressure processes can be observed, among other things, in the release of great quantities of synthetic substances into the environment, including the Endocrine Disrupting Compounds (EDC). A vast number of chemical substances is considered to belong to the this group, including substances which occur naturally in the environment, such as mycotoxins and phytoestrogens, and substances...

Evaluation of the photoprotective effect of β-cyclodextrin on the emission of volatile degradation products of ranitidine
The exploitation of anticarcinogenic potential of white cabbage to improve nutritional value of meat products
PublicationBadania dotyczyły wykorzystania zalet składników kapusty białej w celu opracowania technologii wytwarzania wyrobów mięsnych wzbogaconych w związki przeciwrakotwórcze a zatem o poprawionej wartości żywieniowej. Wybór warzywa wynikał zarówno z środkowoeuropejskiej tradycji spożywania kapusty z daniami mięsnymi jak i badań modelowych wskazujących na technologiczne i zdrowotne zalety skojarzenia tego warzywa z mięsem.

Stability studies of selected phenoxyacid herbicides in water samples and detrmination of their transformation products

Travel agents and destination management organizations: eLearning as a strategy to train tourism trade partners.
PublicationThis article offers an overview of the existing online courses run by national destination management organizations (DMOs) in order to better equip travel agents and tour operators in the sales activities of the tourism destinations. These online courses represent one of the B2B offers by DMOs and an interesting opportunity for travel agents, who are trying to find their identity and competitive advantage within the context of...

An new method of audio-visual correlation analysis
PublicationThis paper presents a new methodology of conducting the audio-visual correlation analysis employing the gaze tracking system. Interaction between two perceptual modalities, seeing and hearing, their interaction and mutual reinforcement in a complex relationship was a subject of many research studies. Earlier stage of the carried out experiments at the Multimedia Systems Department (MSD) showed that there exists a relationship between...

Is it possible to create a unified urban greenery management system (UGMS) on a national scale? The concept for EU Member State of Poland
PublicationMotives: Currently developed urban greenery management systems (UGMS) are limited in scope and profiled towards solving particular issues. Moreover, due to the lack of common standards and solutions, UGMS implementation requires considerable financial effort, which is only feasible for wealthy urban centres. There is a need for universal, cost-effective technological solutions which could constitute a common urban green infrastructure...

Synthesis and properties of new 'N,'N-phenyltetrazole podand
PublicationThe synthesis of a new chromogenic N,N-phenyltetrazole receptor is reported here. The cationbinding properties of this receptor in solution were investigated by naked-eye colour change, electrochemical methods and UV-Vis spectroscopy in various solvents (CH3CN, dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO), DMSO/H2O, CH3CN/H2O and CH3CN/MeOH). In addition, the receptor was used as a sensing material in ion-selective membrane electrodes. The selectivity...

Design specification management with automated decision-making for reliable optimization of miniaturized microwave components
PublicationThe employment of numerical optimization techniques for parameter tuning of microwave components has nowadays become a commonplace. In pursuit of reliability, it is most often carried out at the level of full-wave electromagnetic (EM) simulation models, incurring considerable computational expenses. In the case of miniaturized microstrip circuits, densely arranged layouts with strong cross-coupling effects make EM-driven tuning...
