System of monitoring of the Forest Opera in Sopot structure and roofing
PublicationThe authors present a solution realized in Forest Opera (name in Polish: Opera Leśna) in Sopot (Poland) in connection with the modernization and construction of a new roof. The complicated structure of the roof of the facility and the used covering in form of membrane made of technical fabric required (for security reasons) to install the unit of devices allowing for the continuous geodetic monitoring of the facility. Monitoring...

Intelligent Decision Forest Models for Customer Churn Prediction
PublicationCustomer churn is a critical issue impacting enterprises and organizations, particularly in the emerging and highly competitive telecommunications industry. It is important to researchers and industry analysts interested in projecting customer behavior to separate churn from non‐churn consumers. The fundamental incentive is a firm’s intent desire to keep current consumers, along with the exorbitant expense of gaining new ones....

Antibiotic resistance, virulence, and phylogenetic analysis of Escherichia coli strains isolated from free-living birds in human habitats
PublicationWild birds can be colonized by bacteria, which are often resistant to antibiotics and have various virulence profiles. The aim of this study was to analyze antibiotic resistance mechanisms and virulence profiles in relation to the phylogenetic group of E. coli strains that were isolated from the GI tract of wildfowl. Out of 241 faecal samples, presence of E. coli resistant to a cephalosporin (ESBL/AmpC) was estimated for 33 isolates...

Application of multisensoral remote sensing data in the mapping of alkaline fens Natura 2000 habitat
PublicationThe Biebrza River valley (NE Poland) is distinguished by largely intact, highly natural vegetation patterns and very good conservation status of wetland ecosystems. In 20132014, studies were conducted in the upper Biebrza River basin to develop a remote sensing method for alkaline fen classification a protected Natura 2000 habitat (code 7230) using remote sensing technologies. High resolution airborne true colour (RGB) and...

Offshore benthic habitat mapping based on object-based image analysis and geomorphometric approach. A case study from the Slupsk Bank, Southern Baltic Sea
PublicationBenthic habitat mapping is a rapidly growing field of underwater remote sensing studies. This study provides the first insight for high-resolution hydroacoustic surveys in the Slupsk Bank Natura 2000 site, one of the most valuable sites in the Polish Exclusive Zone of the Southern Baltic. This study developed a quick and transparent, automatic classification workflow based on multibeam echosounder and side-scan sonar surveys to...

Experimental research on technical fabric of the Forest Opera Roof in Sopot
PublicationThe experimental analysis of the technical fabric Valmex is presented. The study involves uniaxial tensile, cyclic, rheological and biaxial tests. Some of the main differencies between two types of the analysed material have been identified. Mechanical properties of the textile have been modeled by the viscoelastic standard model with quite good effect.

VERSATILE SPACE OF PERSIAN COURT HOUSE IN ISFAHAN USED AS POLISH CHILDREN HABITAT DURING THE WW2
PublicationDuring WW2 thousands of Polish citizens were deported to Siberia and Kazakhstan in the USSRdoomed to exterminating labour. The Polish army was also detained there. The Iranian Shahallowed Polish soldiers and civilians to cross from Russia to Iran. In Isfahan Polish fugitives, mainlychildren, were accommodated in Persian traditional court houses which were converted into theirtemporary habitat, where new...

A study on fibre-reinforced concrete elements properties based on the case of habitat modules in the underwater sills
PublicationHydrotechnical constructions are mostly objects functioning in extreme conditions and requiring a custom-made construction project. In the case of using prefabricated elements, it is required to develop production, transport, assembly, conservation and repair technology. Concerning the problem of concrete cracks, modern repair systems allow positive effects to be achieved in many cases of concrete elements repair. In this work...

Inflation Forecast or Forecast(s) Targeting?
PublicationThe paper refers to L.E.O. Svensson’s concept of inflation forecast targeting (IFT) and its implementation by central banks of Sweden, Norway and the Czech Republic. The study focuses on (1) inflation forecasts published by selected central banks, i.e.headline inflation and core or monetary policy-relevant (MPR) inflation, which are made on the assumption of endogenous instrument rate, (2) one-year consumer...

A Robust Random Forest Model for Classifying the Severity of Partial Discharges in Dielectrics
PublicationPartial Discharges (PDs) are a common source of degradation in electrical assets. It is essential that the extent of the deterioration level of insulating medium is correctly identified, to optimize maintenance schedules and prevent abrupt power outages. Temporal PD signals received from damaged insulation, collected through the IEC-60270 method is the gold standard for PD detection. Temporal signals may be transformed to the frequency...
