Hydrophobic deep eutectic solvents as “green” extraction media for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in aqueous samples
PublicationThe paper presents novel nonionic and hydrophobic deep eutectic solvents which were synthesized from natural compounds, i.e., thymol, ±camphor, decanoic and 10-undecylenic acids. Fundamental physicochemical properties of the synthesized deep eutectic solvents were determined, followed by their application as extractants in ultrasound-assisted dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction to isolate and enrich polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons...

MAC contention in a wireless LAN with noncooperative anonymous stations

IEEE 802.11 LAN capacity: incentives and incentive learning
PublicationMotywację stacji sieci lokalnej IEEE 802.11 do przeprowadzenia racjonalnego ataku na mechanizm MAC można wyrazić liczbowo jako punkt stały pewnego przekształcenia dwuwymiarowego. Model taki został następnie rozszerzony o możliwość stosowania przez stacje strategii wyrafinowanego przewidywania zachowań innych stacji. Pokazano, w jaki sposób wpływa to na przepustowość sieci i sprawiedliwość dostępu do medium transmisyjnego, uwzględniając...

Experimental evaluation of estimator mean square error curve for cognitive tracking radar
PublicationTo make decisions, cognitive radar must rely on predictions of its own performance. In the literature, these predictions are usually based on some form of Cram\'er-Rao lower bound. This approach is scientifically sound, but it also brings a possibility of the cognitive controller overestimating radar performance. It therefore makes sense to back theoretical predictions with careful experiments which will verify their applicability....

Chemical composition of shells from red (Strongylocentrotus franciscanum) and green (Strongylocentrotus droeba-chiensis) sea urchin
PublicationThe shells from red and green sea urchins accounted for 47.9 and 40.7% of their body weights, respectively. The red and green sea urchin shells contained 91.08 and 90.77% minerals and 4.06 and 4.99% proteins, respectively. The shells did not contain any chitin. Sea urchin shells had a relatively large amount of naphthoquinone pigments, 121 mg per 100 g in red and 163 mg per 100 g in green species. The small quantities of glucosamine...

The Green Approach to the Synthesis of Bio-Based Thermoplastic Polyurethane Elastomers with Partially Bio-Based Hard Blocks
PublicationBio-based polymeric materials and green routes for their preparation are current issues of many research works. In this work, we used the diisocyanate mixture based on partially bio-based diisocyanate origin and typical petrochemical diisocyanate for the preparation of novel bio-based thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers (bio-TPUs). We studied the influence of the diisocyanate mixture composition on the chemical structure, thermal,...

Thermo-oxidative exfoliation of carbon black from ground tire rubber as potential reinforcement in green tires
PublicationConsidering the balance between rapidly growing global tire demand and scarcity of natural resources, recycling and reclaiming techniques of tire rubber have become the state of the art. Herein, we set out to implement a self-designed thermo-oxidative reactor for the exfoliation of carbon black (CB) from ground tire rubber, which is efficiently functioned under a thermo-oxidative reclaiming condition without any additive. The exfoliation...

Multispectral Imaging Using Fluorescent Properties of Indocyanine Green and Methylene Blue in Colorectal Surgery—Initial Experience
PublicationIntroduction: Image-guided surgery is becoming a new tool in colorectal surgery. Intraoperative visualisation of different structures using fluorophores helps during various steps of operations. In our report, we used two fluorophores—indocyanine green (ICG), and methylene blue (MB)— during different steps of colorectal surgery, using one camera system for two separate near-infrared wavelengths. Material and methods: Twelve patients...

Deep eutectic solvents – based green absorbents for effective volatile organochlorine compounds removal from biogas
PublicationVolatile organochlorine compounds (VOXs) presented in biogas can cause many technological and environmental problems. During the combustion of biogas containing VOXs, the corrosion of installation, as well as the formation of toxic by-products (polyhalogenated dioxins and furans) and further emission to the atmosphere, may occur. Therefore, in this study, a new procedure based on physical absorption was developed. In order to meet...

Reclaimed rubber in-situ grafted with soybean oil as a novel green reactive plasticizer in SBR/silica compounds
PublicationPolymer recycling and biodegradable polymeric materials are two major routes towards the sustainable development of polymer materials which contributes to the management of waste. In this regard, an eco-friendly approach is presented wherein high reclaiming degree of ground tire rubber (GTR) was achieved by low-temperature oxidation under swollen action of soybean oil. In-situ reclaimed GTR with soybean oil was cured into reactive...

Renewable natural resources as green alternative substrates to obtain bio-based non-isocyanate polyurethanes-review
PublicationCommercially available polyurethanes are synthesized by the polyaddition of diisocyanates with polyols and low molecular weight chain extenders. A new approach to polyurethanes synthesis is realized via non-isocyanate routes. Negative impacts of petroleum-based chemicals on the environment and human health as well as gradual reduction of fuel-based resources, which leads to an increase in their prices, are an incentive to looking...

Performance of an ad-hoc 802.11 LAN under a backoff attack
PublicationSamowolna rekonfiguracja wartości okien rywalizacji w protokole MAC sieci bezprzewodowych 802.11 może prowadzić do niesprawiedliwego rozdziału dostępnego pasma transmisyjnego. Dla dużego obciążenia ruchowego sformułowano prosty model markowowski umożliwiający szybką symulację Monte Carlo dla oceny udziału w pasmie poszczególnych stacji sieci. Traktując otrzymane wielkości jako wypłaty w grze niekoalicyjnej przedstawiono niektóre...

Electronic and nuclear properties from the analysis of the isotope shifts in the spectral lines of lead [online]
