Curves of thermodynamic states in some fluids with dispersion
Publikacjavariations in the thermodynamic state of a dispersive medium, caused by sound, are studied. A bubbly liquid and a Maxwell fluid are considered as examples. Curves in the plane of thermodynamic states are plotted. They are in fact pictorial images of linear relations of excess pressure and excess density in the acoustic wave which reflect irreversible attenuation of the sound energy. The curves account for the nonlinear generation...

Nonlinear phenomena of small-scale sound in a gas with exponential stratification
PublikacjaThe nonlinear dynamics of perturbations, quickly varying in space, with comparatively large characteristic wavenumbers k: k>1/H, is considered. H is the scale of density and pressure reduction in unperturbed gas, as the coordinate (H is the so-called height of the uniform equilibrium gas). Coupling nonlinear equations which govern the sound and the entropy mode in a weakly nonlinear flow are derived. They describe the dynamics...

Qualitative evaluation of distributed clinical systems supporting research teams working on large-scale data
PublikacjaInthispaper, fivecontemporaryscalablesystemstosupportmedicalresearchteams are presented. Their functionalities extend from heterogeneous unstructured data acquisition through large-scale data storing, to on-the-fly analyzing by using robust methods. Such kinds of systems can be useful in the development of new medical procedures and recommendation rules for decision support systems. A short description of each of them is provided....

Calculation methods of interaction of electromagnetic waves with objects of complex geometries
PublikacjaModeling of the electromagnetic interaction with different homogeneous or inhomo-geneous objects is a fundamental and important problem. It is relatively easy to solve Maxwellequations analytically when the scattering object is spherical or cylindrical, for example. How-ever, when it loses these properties all that is left for us is to useapproximation models, to ac-quire the solution we need. Modeling of complex, non-spherical,...

1D Model Callibration on the Basis on 3D calculations for Tesla Turbine
PublikacjaThe paper presents the system of equations for axisymmetriclaminar flow, after averaging, through the width of interdisk slit ofTesla turbine. Coefficients were introduced, as a result ofaveraging, that improve the efficiency of 1D model. The minimalnumber of such coefficients was determined. The 1D modelmakes it possible to attain analytical solutions to an accuracylimited by these coefficients. Calibration of 1D model depends...

Example of tension fabric structure analysis
PublikacjaThe aim of the work is to examine two variants of non-linear strain-stress relations accepted to description of architectural fabric. Discussion on the fundamental equations of the dense net model, used in description of coated woven fabric behaviour is presented. An analysis of tensile fabric structures subjected to the dead load and initial pretension is described.

Rotor Blade Geometry Optimisation in Kaplan Turbine
PublikacjaThe paper presents the description of method and results of rotor blade shape optimisation. The rotor blading constitutes a part ofturbine flow path. Optimisation consists in selection of the shape that minimises ratio of polytrophic loss. Shape of the blade isdefined by the mean camber line and thickness of the airfoil. Thickness is distributed around the camber line based on the ratio ofdistribution. Global optimisation was done...

On some extensions of Murray's Law
PublikacjaThis paper cites the original Murray's law about optimal radii.Extensions to some class of non-newtonian flows that aredescribedby Ostwalda-de Waele model and newtonian flows foreliptical crosssections. A generalisation of Murray's law formultiobjectiveformulation is also given. It is shown that theoriginal formulation of optimal condition is a particular case ofmultiobjective formulation.

Molecular dynamics simulations of ultraprecision machining of fcc monocrystals
PublikacjaArtykuł zawiera wyniki wielkoskalowych symulacji dynamiczno-molekularnych ultraprecyzyjnego skrawania monokryształów metali niedeformowalnym narzędziem. Zmiennymi parametrami symulacji były: szybkość i głębokość skrawania, temperatura, orientacja krystalograficzna skrawanego kryształu oraz kształt narzędzia.Analizie poddano zmiany strukturalne w obrabianym materiale.

Analysis of Excavation-induced Deformation with Different Soil Models
PublikacjaMonitorowany wykop budowlany w centrum Warszawy poddano symulacjom numerycznym z wykorzystaniem metody elementów skończonych. Wykop zrealizowany został w pre-konsolidowanych utworach spoistych z zastosowaniem ścian szczelinowych i metody stropowej. Szczególnie ważny w symulacjach tego rodzaju zagadnień jest wybór modelu zachowania się gruntu w warunkach małych odkształceń przed osiągnięciem zniszczenia. Opis aktualnej sztywności...

GENERAL DYNAMIC PROJECTING OF MAXWELL EQUATIONS
PublikacjaA complete – system of Maxwell equations is splitting into independent subsystems by means of a special dynamic projecting technique. The technique relies upon a direct link between field components that determine correspondent subspaces. The explicit form of links and corresponding subspace evolution equations are obtained in conditions of certain symmetry, it is illustrated by examples of spherical and quasi-one-dimensional waves.

A SHORT REVIEW OF BLOOD FLOW MODELLING METHODS: FROM MACRO- TO MICROSCALES
PublikacjaThe aim of this paper it to review various scale approaches to the blood flow modelling. Blood motion may be described by three types of mathematical models according to the observed scales or resolutions, namely microscopic, mesoscopic and macroscopic descriptions. The above approaches are discussed together with their advantages and disadvantages. Several results of mesoscopic simulations are presented with particular attention...

Multidisciplinary Open System Transferring Knowledge for R2B Development
PublikacjaDespite many efforts, there is still a serious problem in transferring knowledge from research to business. The problem is especially visible in Poland – the cooperation of R2B is ineffective. We are trying to solve this problem using some IT support. The manuscript presents some solutions developed at the Gdańsk University of Technology. In particular, the platform called “MOST Knowledge” is deeply described. Its layer architecture,...

Open extensive IoT research and measurement infrastructure for remote collection and automatic analysis of environmental data.
PublikacjaInternet of Things devices that send small amounts of data do not need high bit rates as it is the range that is more crucial for them. The use of popular, unlicensed 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands is fairly legally enforced (transmission power above power limits cannot be increased). In addition, waves of this length are very diffiult to propagate under field conditions (e.g. in urban areas). The market response to these needs are the...

JMATRIX - a package for relativistic J-matrix calculations in elastic scattering of electrons from model potentials
PublikacjaWe present a software package JMATRIX, consisting of two computer codes written in FORTRAN 95 and parallelized with OpenMP, implementing the so-called J-matrix method, applied to elastic scattering of electrons on the radial potential, vanishing faster than Coulomb one. In the J-matrix method, physical scattering problem is replaced by using well-defined model, which is solved analytically. Presented software implements both non-relativistic...

Complementary oriented allocation algorithm for cloud computing
PublikacjaNowadays cloud computing is one of the most popular processing models. More and more different kinds of workloads have been migrated to clouds. This trend obliges the community to design algorithms which could optimize the usage of cloud resources and be more effiient and effective. The paper proposes a new model of workload allocation which bases on the complementarity relation and analyzes it. An example of a case of use is shown...

Some representative teamwork characteristics, such as team member competencies, team diversity, leadership, and team decision-making are analyzed and compared depending on the degree of virtuality. Moreover, the team climate as one of the team performance measures is also analyzed and compared in...
