MP3vec: A Reusable Machine-Constructed Feature Representation for Protein Sequences
Publikacja—Machine Learning (ML) methods have been used with varying degrees of success on protein prediction tasks, with two inherent limitations. First, prediction performance often depends upon the features extracted from the proteins. Second, experimental data may be insufficient to construct reliable ML models. Here we introduce MP3vec, a transferable representation for protein sequences that is designed to be used specifically for sequence-to-sequence...

Impact of AlphaFold on structure prediction of protein complexes: The CASP15‐CAPRI experiment
PublikacjaWe present the results for CAPRI Round 54, the 5th joint CASP-CAPRI protein assembly prediction challenge. The Round offered 37 targets, including 14 homodimers, 3 homo-trimers, 13 heterodimers including 3 antibody–antigen complexes, and 7 large assemblies. On average 70 CASP and CAPRI predictor groups, including more than 20 automatics servers, submitted models for each target. A total of 21 941 models submitted by these groups...

Neural networks and deep learning
PublikacjaIn this chapter we will provide the general and fundamental background related to Neural Networks and Deep Learning techniques. Specifically, we divide the fundamentals of deep learning in three parts, the first one introduces Deep Feed Forward Networks and the main training algorithms in the context of optimization. The second part covers Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and discusses their main advantages and shortcomings...

Machine learning-based prediction of seismic limit-state capacity of steel moment-resisting frames considering soil-structure interaction
PublikacjaRegarding the unpredictable and complex nature of seismic excitations, there is a need for vulnerability assessment of newly constructed or existing structures. Predicting the seismic limit-state capacity of steel Moment-Resisting Frames (MRFs) can help designers to have a preliminary estimation and improve their views about the seismic performance of the designed structure. This study improved data-driven decision techniques in...

An Intelligent Approach to Short-Term Wind Power Prediction Using Deep Neural Networks
PublikacjaIn this paper, an intelligent approach to the Short-Term Wind Power Prediction (STWPP) problem is considered, with the use of various types of Deep Neural Networks (DNNs). The impact of the prediction time horizon length on accuracy, and the influence of temperature on prediction effectiveness have been analyzed. Three types of DNNs have been implemented and tested, including: CNN (Convolutional Neural Networks), GRU (Gated Recurrent...

Deep learning for ultra-fast and high precision screening of energy materials
PublikacjaSemiconductor materials for energy storage are the core and foundation of modern information society and play important roles in photovoltaic system, integrated circuit, spacecraft technology, lighting applications, and other fields. Unfortunately, due to the long experiment period and high calculation cost, the high-precision band gap (the basic characteristic parameter) of semiconductor is difficult to obtain, which hinders the...

Optical method supported by machine learning for dynamics of C‐reactive protein concentrations changes detection in biological matrix samples
PublikacjaIn this article we present the novel spectroscopy method supported with machine learning for real-time detection of infectious agents in wastewater. In the case of infectious diseases, wastewater monitoring can be used to detect the presence of inflammation biomarkers, such as the proposed C-reactive protein, for monitoring inflammatory conditions and mass screening during epidemics for early detection in communities of concern,...

Optimized Deep Learning Model for Flood Detection Using Satellite Images
PublikacjaThe increasing amount of rain produces a number of issues in Kerala, particularly in urban regions where the drainage system is frequently unable to handle a significant amount of water in such a short duration. Meanwhile, standard flood detection results are inaccurate for complex phenomena and cannot handle enormous quantities of data. In order to overcome those drawbacks and enhance the outcomes of conventional flood detection...

Experimental and Machine-Learning-Assisted Design of Pharmaceutically Acceptable Deep Eutectic Solvents for the Solubility Improvement of Non-Selective COX Inhibitors Ibuprofen and Ketoprofen
PublikacjaDeep eutectic solvents (DESs) are commonly used in pharmaceutical applications as excellent solubilizers of active substances. This study investigated the tuning of ibuprofen and ketoprofen solubility utilizing DESs containing choline chloride or betaine as hydrogen bond acceptors and various polyols (ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, glycerol, 1,2-propanediol, 1,3-butanediol) as hydrogen bond donors. Experimental...
