EXPERIMENTAL AND NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION ON SPECIMEN GEOMETRY EFFECT ON THE CTOD VALUE FOR VL-E36 SHIPBUILDING STEEL
PublikacjaThere are special cases in the marine industry, where additional material tests, such as the fracture toughness test, must be performed. Additional fracture toughness tests, such as CTOD (Crack Tip Opening Displacement), are typically performed on three-point bend specimens. The dimension that defines all the specimen dimensions is the thickness of the material to be tested. It is recommended by classification societies (e.g. DNVGL)...

Uniform corrosion monitoring of carbon steel in concrete.
PublikacjaW przypadku korozji prętów zbrojeniowych w żelbecie zaobserwowane zostały obszary wzmożonego zaatakowania. Pomiar prądowego i napięciowego szumu elektrochemicznego umożliwia wyznaczenie szybkości korozji ogólnej a zmiany parametrów statystycznych przebiegów szumowych umożliwiają detekcję występowania przestrzennych rejonów intensyfikacji korozji. Przedstawione rezultaty, oparte na wykorzystaniu odpowiedniego układu zastępczego,...

Steel-fibrous concrete -experiments and a numerical discrete model

Application of guided waves in the evaluation of steel-concrete adhesive connection
PublikacjaThe aim of the paper is the application of guided waves in the evaluation of a condition state of adhesive connection between steel and concrete. The study concerns a push-out specimen consisting of two steel plates glued to opposite faces of a concrete cube with the use of structural adhesive. Wave propagation in the specimen without external load is investigated both experimentally and numerically. The second stage of the investigation...

Evaluation of the resistance of steel–concrete adhesive connection in reinforced concrete beams using guided wave propagation
PublikacjaThe development of the nondestructive diagnostic methods is of significant importance in the last decades. A special attention is paid to diagnostics of reinforced concrete structures, which are very popular in the civil engineering field. A possible use of the guided waves in the estimation of the resistance of steel–concrete adhesive connection is studied in the following paper. The relationships relating adhesive connection...

Guided wave propagation for assessment of adhesive bonding between steel and concrete
PublikacjaAdhesive bonding is becoming more increasingly important in joining of structural elements. In civil engineering, there is a growing interest in connection by adhesive bonding in steel-concrete flexural members. This study concerns the guided wave propagation technique applied to condition assessment of an adhesive connection between a steel member and a concrete beam. Various states of degradation were considered by producing...

High Rise Building: The Mega Sculpture Made Of Steel, Concrete and Glass
PublikacjaHigh rise building has transformed from providing not only the expansion of floor space but functioning as mega sculpture in the city. The shift away from economic efficiency driven need is only expected to grow in the future. Based on literature studies; after analysing planning documents and case studies, it was examined whether the presumption that gaining the maximum amount of usable area is the only driving factor; or if the...

DETECTION OF DEBONDING IN STEEL BARS EMBEDDED IN CONCRETE USING GUIDED WAVE PROPAGATION
PublikacjaThe paper presents a non-destructive diagnostic technique based on guided wave propagation phenomenon used to assess the adhesive bonding between a steel bar and a concrete cover. Double-layered cylindrical specimens with different levels of debonding and its location were investigated. The influence of bonding length on the excitation of multiple modes of longitudinal guided waves was analysed. Numerical simulations of guided...

Failure Monitoring and Condition Assessment of Steel-Concrete Adhesive Connection Using Ultrasonic Waves
PublikacjaAdhesive bonding is increasingly being incorporated into civil engineering applications. Recently, the use of structural adhesives in steel-concrete composite systems is of particular interest. The aim of the study is an experimental investigation of the damage assessment of the connection between steel and concrete during mechanical degradation. Nine specimens consisted of a concrete cube and two adhesively bonded steel plates...

Tests of bond between concrete and steel bars – literature background and program of own research
PublikacjaThis article deals with the issue of the bond between concrete and reinforcement. The bond is crucial for reinforced concrete elements because it is possible to transfer forces (stresses) from concrete to the reinforcement. Basic information related to the cooperation of concrete and rebars was recalled in the article. Selected issues concerning theoretical and numerical analysis as well as experiments of the bond phenomenon were...

Experimental investigation of Steel–Concrete–Polymer composite barrier for the ship internal tank construction
PublikacjaTransportation of dangerous cargo by ships demands ensuring an appropriate protection level in case of an accident. Two of the most dangerous accident types resulting in an oil spill are grounding and ship to ship collision. The article presents results of research on a new composite construction for a ship hull that increases structural safety during collision. The concept of semi-elastic Steel–Concrete–Polymer structure is presented....

Experimental and numerical investigations of size effects in reinforced concrete beams with steel or basalt bars.
PublikacjaW artykule przedstawiono wyniki obliczeń efektów skali w belkach betonowych zbrojonych prętami stalowymi i bazaltowymi podczas zginania. Zastosowano model sprężysto-plastyczny z nielokalnym osłabieniem. Rozkład wytrzymałości na rozciąganie był stochastyczny – przestrzennie skorelowany. Belki były geometrycznie podobne. Wyniki porównano z modelem efektu skali Bazanta

Simulation of fracture process in concrete elements with steel fibres using discrete lattice model
