Aggregation properties of some zirconium phosphate loaded with dirhenium(III) complexes
PublikacjaOne of the important areas of modern science is the selection of the right forms of drug delivery. Layered inorganic nanoparticles, such as zirconium phosphate, have proven themselves well in this area. The study of the properties of these systems and methods of their preparation makes it possible to determine a rational technology of their manufacture, storage conditions as well as suggest a possible mechanism of therapeutic action....

Aggregation of nonionic surfactants in imidazolium ionic liquids
PublikacjaMicellar aggregation of surfactants in aqueous solutions has been described in terms of the balance between dispersive interactions of the hydrocarbon part of the amphiphilic molecule, and the hydration and electrostatic repulsive effects of hydrophilic head group. Changing the interactions by replacing water with another polar solvent, such as amides or glycols, has been studied to a smaller extent (Singh, Saleem et al. 1980;...

Aggregation of Rhodamine 6G in titanium dioxide nanolayers and bulk xerogels
PublikacjaNanolayers and bulk xerogels of Rhodamine 6G (Rh6G) in titanium dioxide (Rh6G/TiO2) were prepared using the sol–gel method. The spectroscopic and structural properties of these two types of hybrid matrices were studied as a function of dye concentration. In both cases absorption, fluorescence and time resolved emission spectra show the formation of fluorescent aggregates. The observed stronger changes in characteristics of bulk...

Aggregation of imidazoacridinones - spectroscopic and microcalorimetric approach
PublikacjaImidazoacridinones (IA) belong to a group of polycyclic heteroaromatic antitumor compounds. IA create the aggregated form in water solution. Self-association of substances is a very important phenomenon in many fields of applied chemistry. It is also fundamental model reaction of many kinds of molecular interactions such as the micelle formation of amphiphilic substances and the binding of small organic molecules to macromolecules....

Studies on micellar aggregation of nonionic surfactants in imidazolium liquids
PublikacjaA number of imidazolium ionic liquids, with 2-8 carbon atoms in cation alkyl chains, and tetrafluoroborate, hexafluorophosphate, bis(trifluoromethylsulfony)imide and trifluoromethanesulfonate anions, were characterized for their ability to support micellar aggregation of nonionic surfactants in binary solutions.

Entropy Production Associated with Aggregation into Granules in a Subdiffusive Environment
PublikacjaWe study the entropy production that is associated with the growing or shrinking of a small granule in, for instance, a colloidal suspension or in an aggregating polymer chain. A granule will fluctuate in size when the energy of binding is comparable to k_{B}T, which is the “quantum” of Brownian energy. Especially for polymers, the conformational energy landscape is often rough and has been commonly modeled as being self-similar...

The influence of reactions conditions on aggregation of dyes used in biochemistry
PublikacjaSelf-association of dyes and related substances is a very important phenomenon in many fields of applied chemistry. It is also fundamental model reaction of many kinds of molecular interactions such as the micelle formation of amphiphilic substances and the binding of small organic molecules to macromolecules. In spite of many studies concerning the dimerization equilibria of dyes and related substances, the mechanism seems not...

Problem of aggregation in dye-DNA interaction, calorimetry studies
PublikacjaNucleic acids are the biological target for many antimicrobial, antitumor and antiviral drugs. Ligand-DNA interactions can be classified into two major categories: 1. covalent binding, which can provide to intermolecular adducts, 2. physico-chemical interactions, which can be divided into intercalation (e.g. adriamycin) or groove binding (e.g. dystamycin). There are several methods to investigate interactions between drug and DNA....

Micellar aggregation of Triton X-100 surfactant in imidazolium ionic liquids
PublikacjaIn this work we investigated aggregation behavior of a nonionic surfactant Triton X-100 in eighteen imidazolium ionic liquids (ILs) with two to eight carbon atoms in cations alkyl chain, namely 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium, [EMIM], 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium, [PrMIM], 3-methyl-1-propylimidazolium, [BMIM], 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium, [PMIM], 3-methyl-1-pentyl-imidazolium, [HMIM], and 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium, [OMIM], and with...

Thermodynamics of aggregation of 1-methyl-3-tetradecylimidazolium chloride in an aqueous solution
PublikacjaZbadano zależność agregacji chlorku 1-metylo-3-tetradecyloimidazoliowego w środowisku wodnym od temperatury. Wyznaczono krytyczne stężenie agregacji (CAC) oraz stopień jonizacji metodą pomiaru przewodnictwa właściwego. Otrzymane wyniki wykorzystano do predykcji parametrów termodynamicznych - entalpii swobodnej, entalpii i entropii, stosując phase separation model. Wykazano, że krzywa zależności CAC od temperatury jest U-kształtna...

Nonconventional 1,8-Diazafluoren-9-One Aggregates for Green Light Enhancement in Hybrid Biocompatible Media
PublikacjaOrganic aggregates currently play a prominent role, mainly for their unique optoelectronic properties in the aggregated state. Such properties can be related to the aggregates’ structure and the molecular packing mode. In the literature, we have well-established models of H and J aggregates defined based on the molecular exciton model. However, unconventional aggregates, the most unrecognized forms, have been generating interest...

The Effect of Sterols on Amphotericin B Self-Aggregation in a Lipid Bilayer as Revealed by Free Energy Simulations
PublikacjaAmphotericin B (AmB) is an effective but toxic antifungal drug, known to increase the permeability of the cell membrane, presumably by assembling into transmembrane pores in a sterol-dependent manner. The aggregation of AmB molecules in a phospholipid bilayer is, thus, crucial for the drug’s activity. To provide an insight into the molecular nature of this process, here, we report an atomistic molecular dynamics simulation study...

Investigation of the distribution of imidazolium ionic liquids in the environment - aggregation in water and sorption on minerals
W pracy wykazano,...

Representing and appraising Toulmin model arguments in trust cases
PublikacjaThe paper presents a Toulmin-based argument model used in trust cases, which allows to argue various properties of IT systems. Argument patterns encountered in trust cases are discussed together with some real-life examples. A method of argument appraisal is introduced together with the corresponding aggregation mechanism. Practical applications of trust cases in industrial and research projects are outlined.
