Modern Arrangement for Reduction of Voltage Perturbations
PublikacjaThe contents of this chapter encompass general problems and the most important issues of power-supply-quality improvement in AC systems. In the context of the above, consideration is given to evaluation of bilateral interactions of receivers with an electrical power-distribution system and methods of their reduction. Also are discussed the basis of operation of the most important compensation-filtration devices and their applications...

Nongeminate recombination in organic bulk heterojunction solar cells: Contribution of exciton–polaron interaction
PublikacjaA new model to explain nongeminate recombination in organic bulk heterojunction solar cells is presented. We suggest that the annihilation of excitons on charge carriers at the interface between donor and acceptor phases competes with the bimolecular recombination of Coulombically bound electron–hole pairs. The exciton–polaron interaction gives visible contribution to the reduction of Langevin recombination. An analytical formula,...

Hydration of urea and its derivatives - Volumetric and compressibility studies
PublikacjaThe densities and sound velocities at T = (288.15, 293.15, 298.15, 303.15 and 308.15) K have been measured for aqueous solutions of urea, N,N-dimethylurea, N,N-diethylurea, N-propylurea, N-butylurea. From these data the apparent molar volumes, V the apparent molar isentropic compressions, KS,, and the Passynski solvation numbers of solutes have been determined. The concentration dependencies of the calculated quantities, their...

Thermodynamic Properties of Inorganic Salts in Nonaqueous Solvents. VI. Apparent Molar Volumes, Expansibilities, and Compressibilities of Divalent Transition Metal Ions in Methanol and Dimethylsulfoxide
PublikacjaThe temperature dependence of the density of divalent transition metal perchlorates in dimethylsulfoxide as well as cobalt(II), nickel(II) perchlorates, and copper(II) trifluoromethanesulfonate in methanol was determined. Moreover, sound velocities for solutions of cobalt(II), nickel(II) perchlorates, and copper(II) trifluoromethanesulfonate in methanol have been measured at 298.15 K. From these data, the partial molar volumes,...

The supramolecular organization of self-assembling chlorosomal bacteriochlorophyll c, d, or e mimics
PublikacjaBacteriochlorophylls (BChls) c, d, and e are the main light-harvesting pigments of green photosynthetic bacteria that self-assemble into nanostructures within the chlorosomes forming the most efficient antennas of photosynthetic organisms. All previous models of the chlorosomal antennae, which are quite controversially discussed because no single crystals could be grown so far from these organelles, involve a strong hydrogen-bonding...

Polyurethane/ground tire rubber composite foams based on polyglycerol: processing, mechanical and thermal properties
PublikacjaDuring the synthesis of rigid polyurethane foams, petrochemical polyol was substituted with polyglycerol, the product of thermo-catalytic polycondensation of waste glycerol, resulting from biodiesel production. Two types of ground tire rubbers, untreated and thermo-mechanically reclaimed, were used to obtain ‘‘green’’ polyurethane-polyglycerol composite foams. Samples were prepared by a single-step method for the ratio of NCO/OH...

Relationships Between Geographical and Virtual Proximity in Cluster Organisations
PublikacjaThe purpose of the paper is to explore the relationships between geographical and virtual proximity in cluster organizations (COs). The authors report the findings of a qualitative study conducted in four COs in Poland. The basic technique for collecting and analyzing data was an in-depth individual interview and qualitative content analysis. The research has shown that the relationships between geographical and virtual proximity...

VUV irradiation studies of plasmid DNA in aqueous solution
PublikacjaInteractions of VUV light and DNA samples in aqueous solutions are reported. The damage induced by such radiation is quantified by monitoring both loss of supercoiled DNA and formation of single and double strand breaks using agarose gel electrophoresis. Irradiations were performed using synchrotron VUV photons of 130, 150, 170 and 190 nm. VUV irradiation experiments revealed enhanced damage upon irradiation with 170 nm photons...

Hybrid Reduced Model of Continuous System
PublikacjaThe paper introduces an alternative method of modelling and modal reduction of continuous systems. Presented method is a hybrid one. It combines the advantages of modal decomposition method and the rigid finite element method. In the proposed method continuous structure is divided into one-dimensional continuous elements. For each 1D element modal decomposition and reduction is applied. Interactions between substructures are...

Solvation of alkaline earth metal ions in N,N-dimethylformamide and N,N-dimethylacetamide – A volumetric and acoustic study
PublikacjaDensities and sound velocities at temperatures (298.15, 303.15, 308.15, 313.15 and 318.15) K of magnesium(II), calcium(II) and strontium(II) rifluoromethanesulfonates (triflates), as well as barium(II) perchloratein N,N-dimethylformamide (dmf) and N,N-dimethylacetamide (dma) have been measured over the composition range studied. From these results, apparent molar volumes and apparent molar isentropic compressibilities at infinite...
