Event driven MPC for networked control systems
PublikacjaBecause of variable delays and stochastic data packets loss networked control systems require suitable algorithms to ensure stability of the control system and guarantee desired control performance. This paper presents the idea of an event driven approach with MPC controller. In opposition to network compensation, where standard regulators are used, the presented solution integrates network with plant. A MPC based controller is...

Sport nie tylko w wielkim mieście. Aktywizujące przestrzenie publiczne
PublikacjaW ostatnich latach sport i rekreacja ruchowa coraz śmielej wkraczają w przestrzeń publiczną miast - ludzie aktywni fizycznie stali się stałym elementem miejskiego krajobrazu. Statystycznie wciąż jednak ruszamy się zbyt mało. Przed architektami i urbanistami stoi więc zadanie projektowania przestrzeni w taki sposób, aby atrakcyjne rozwiązania architektoniczne prowokowały ruch i zróżnicowane formy aktywności fizycznej. Artykuł, skupiając...

Sport-related concussion alters cerebral hemodynamic activity during controlled respiration
PublikacjaThis study investigated cerebral hemodynamic activity following sport-related concussion. Prefrontal cortex oxygenation was assessed by near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) during a controlled breathing protocol. Wavelet transformation of the NIRS signals showed significant decreases in HbO2 and HbD amplitude at the respiratory frequency interval (0.10–0.6 HZ) from preseason baseline to acute concussion. These results suggest a decreased...

A Parallel Corpus-Based Approach to the Crime Event Extraction for Low-Resource Languages
PublikacjaThese days, a lot of crime-related events take place all over the world. Most of them are reported in news portals and social media. Crime-related event extraction from the published texts can allow monitoring, analysis, and comparison of police or criminal activities in different countries or regions. Existing approaches to event extraction mainly suggest processing texts in English, French, Chinese, and some other resource-rich...

Acceleration of decision making in sound event recognition employing supercomputing cluster
PublikacjaParallel processing of audio data streams is introduced to shorten the decision making time in hazardous sound event recognition. A supercomputing cluster environment with a framework dedicated to processing multimedia data streams in real time is used. The sound event recognition algorithms employed are based on detecting foreground events, calculating their features in short time frames, and classifying the events with Support...

Support Vector Machine Applied to Road Traffic Event Classification
PublikacjaThe aim of this paper is to present results of road traffic event signal recognition. First, several types of systems for road traffic monitoring, including Intelligent Transport System (ITS) are shortly described. Then, assumptions of creating a database of vehicle signals recorded in different weather and road conditions are outlined. Registered signals were edited as single vehicle pass by. Using the Matlab-based application...

The impact of initial and boundary conditions on severe weather event simulations using a high-resolution WRF model. Case study of the derecho event in Poland on 11 August 2017
PublikacjaPrecise simulations of severe weather events are a challenge in the era of changing climate. By performing simulations correctly and accurately, these phenomena can be studied and better understood. In this paper, we have verified how different initial and boundary conditions affect the quality of simulations performed using the Weather Research and Forecasting Model (WRF). For our analysis, we chose...

Neural Oscillation During Mental Imagery in Sport: An Olympic Sailor Case Study
PublikacjaThe purpose of the current study was to examine the cortical correlates of imagery depending on instructional modality (guided vs. self-produced) using various sports-related scripts. According to the expert-performance approach, we took an idiosyncratic perspective analyzing the mental imagery of an experienced two-time Olympic athlete to verify whether different instructional modalities of imagery (i.e., guided vs. self-produced)...

Distributed Framework for Visual Event Detection in Parking Lot Area
PublikacjaThe paper presents the framework for automatic detection of various events occurring in a parking lot basing on multiple camera video analysis. The framework is massively distributed, both in the logical and physical sense. It consists of several entities called node stations that use XMPP protocol for internal communication and SRTP protocol with Jingle extension for video streaming. Recognized events include detecting parking...

Public Perception of Intangible Benefits and Costs in the Valuation of Mega Sports Events: The Case of Euro 2012 in Poland
PublikacjaThis article estimates the intangible benefits and costs of Euro 2012 in Poland. Using the contingent valuation method (CVM), a study was conducted among residents of all four host regions of the event and one nonhost region. This provided the basis for determining the net intangible benefit arising from Poland’s hosting of the European football championships (Euro 2012), which was estimated at 5.3 billion PLN2012. The aggregate...

Extinction Event Concepts for the Evolutionary Algorithms
PublikacjaThe main goal of this present paper is to propose a structure for a tool helping to determine how algorithm would react in a real live application, by checking it's adaptive capabilities in an extreme situation. Also a different idea of an additional genetic operator is being presented. As Genetic Algorithms are directly inspired by evolution, extinction events, which are elementary in our planet's development history, became...

Simulations of the Derecho Event in Poland of 11th August 2017 Using WRF Model
PublikacjaThis series contains datasets related to the forecasting of a severe weather event, a derecho, in Poland on 11 August 2017. The simulations were conducted using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model version 4.2.1 with different initial and boundary conditions of the pressure and model levels derived from 5 global models: Global Forecast System (GFS), Global Data Assimilation System (GDAS), European Centre for Medium-Range...
