Comparison of Impedance-Source Networks for Two and Multilevel Buck–Boost Inverter Applications
Publikacjampedance-source networks are an increasingly popular solution in power converter applications, especially in single-stage buck-boost power conversion to avoid additional front-end dc-dc power converters. In the survey papers published, no analytical comparisons of different topologies have been described, which makes it difficult to choose the best option. Thus, the aim of this paper is to present a comprehensive analytical comparison...

The paper presents the structure of the speed observer which is a new proposition of observer backstepping with additional state variables marked Z. The rotor speed can be estimated in three different ways. The first is based on the adaptive approach, the second on the nonadaptive...

An Analysis of Elliptical-Rectangular Multipatch Structure on Dielectric-Coated Confocal and Nonconfocal Elliptic Cylinders
PublikacjaA rigorous analysis of the resonance frequency problem of an elliptical-rectangular microstrip structure mounted on dielectric-coated elliptic conducting cylinder, with electrically small radius, is investigated in this paper. A full-wave analysis and a moment-method calculation are employed. The analysis is carried out considering the expansion of the field as a series of Mathieu functions. The complex resonance frequencies of...

Objective selection of minimum acceptable mesh refinement for EMC simulations
PublikacjaOptimization of computational electromagnetics (CEM) simulation models can be costly in both time and computing resources. Mesh refinement is a key parameter in determining the number of unknowns to be processed. In turn, this controls the time and memory required for a simulation. Hence, it is important to use only a mesh that is good enough for the objectives of the simulation, whether for direct handling of high-fidelity EM...

Dead-Time Effect Compensation Based on Additional Phase Current Measurements
PublikacjaThis paper proposes a new method of dead-time effect compensation. The proposed solution is based on additional phase current measurements realized by analog-to-digital converters. These measurements are carried out at the time instants specified by a pulsewidth-modulation (PWM) strategy. This makes it possible to estimate inverter currents at the commutation instants and, finally, to estimate the voltage error caused by dead time. This...

On Noncausal Identification of Nonstationary Multivariate Autoregressive Processes
PublikacjaThe problem of identification of nonstationary multivariate autoregressive processes using noncausal local estimation schemes is considered and a new approach to joint selection of the model order and the estimation bandwidth is proposed. The new selection rule, based on evaluation of pseudoprediction errors, is compared with the previously proposed one, based on the modified Akaike’s final prediction error criterion.

PublikacjaThe problem of parametric, autoregressive model based estimation of a time-varying spectral density function of a multivariate nonstationary process is considered. It is shown that estimation results can be considerably improved if identification of the autoregressive model is carried out using the two-sided doubly exponentially weighted lattice algorithm which combines results yielded by two one-sided lattice algorithms running...

PublikacjaThis paper proposes a speed observer algorithm for the sensorless control of a doubly-fed induction generator based on classical adaptive backstepping technique. The sensorless control is shown using classic stator field oriented control which is used to active and reactive power control. Performance of the proposed algorithm of a speed observer is validated by simulation and experimental results obtained using a small-rating generator...

Additionally, such an observer structure...

In the proposed solution the machine model vector form is not transformed to the (dq)-coordinate system, that is connected to rotor flux vector, but utilizes the stationary system ( αβ ). Moreover, the nonlinear model linearization is based on demonstrated nonlinear variables transformation for i-orthogonal ( αβ )(n) planes. By introducing the backstepping...

The proposed analytical models yield the values of the element spacings...

Amplifying the Randomness of Weak Sources Correlated With Devices
PublikacjaThe problem of device-independent randomness amplification against no-signaling adversaries has so far been studied under the assumption that the weak source of randomness is uncorrelated with the (quantum) devices used in the amplification procedure. In this paper, we relax this assumption, and reconsider the original protocol of Colbeck and Renner using a Santha-Vazirani (SV) source. To do so, we introduce an SV-like condition...

Calculation of Resonance in Planar and Cylindrical Microstrip Structures Using a Hybrid Technique
PublikacjaA hybrid technique was employed for the analysis of the resonance frequency of thin planar and cylindrical microstrip structures with the patches of arbitrary geometry. The proposed technique utilizes a combination of Galerkin’s moment method and a finite-element method (FEM). In this approach, an FEM is adopted to calculate the patch surface current densities, and a method of moments is utilized to calculate the resonance frequencies...

Frequency Guided Generalized Adaptive Notch Filtering - Tracking Analysis and Optimization
PublikacjaGeneralized adaptive notch filters (GANFs) are estimators of coefficients of quasi-periodically time-varying systems, encountered e.g., in RF applications when Doppler effect takes place. Current state of the art GANFs can deliver highly accurate estimates of system variations’ frequency, but underperform in terms of accuracy of system coefficient estimates. The paper proposes a novel multistage GANF with improved coefficient...
